Chapter 1: School

"Jiang Jiang, where do you want to go?"

"I want to go to Tsinghua University, but my ability can only get me to Tsinghua University. Based on my test score, whichever school accepted me must have done so out of sympathy because the leaders were helping the poor and took pity on me."

"Don't say that, you're pretty good too, really!"

"Yeah, my score is about the same as yours. We're both pretty much the same. I'll apply to the same school wherever you go so we can go to school together. Who's Lei Zi? Erbei and the others are going to military school, even Da Pao got in. We're the only ones left without a response. I can't even hold my head up in the hospital. How about I stay with you for a few days?"

Three years have passed since I returned from my childhood, and a lot has happened. For example, all the potential gang members have been caught.

For example, she was powerless against the forces of nature during that heartbreaking natural disaster. The only thing she could do was to send all the food and pigs stored in her space to the disaster area.

The whole country was deeply saddened by the tragic news that followed. That year, everyone spontaneously wore white flowers on their chests on Chang'an Avenue!

Later, the four certain policies were overthrown (please forgive me, this part needs to be vague), the college entrance examination was restored, and good news came one after another.

Her employer was very supportive of her college entrance exam and even planned to let her study with pay. Carrying the expectations of her employer, she stepped into the examination room and took the exam seriously.

My friends were all taking exams in different places, all working hard for a bright future. Admission letters flew across the country, but unfortunately, there were no letters for Jiangcha and Guangjin.

The foot-picking duo watched the others celebrate joyfully. The unit leader patted her shoulder, hesitantly speaking, and looked at her with sympathy. She seemed like the most hopeless time-traveling girl, while others could easily get into Tsinghua University or Peking University.

Besides baking sweet potatoes, she also bakes potatoes. It turns out that a poor student doesn't change just because the times change. A poor student is still a poor student no matter where he goes. Fortunately, Guangjin is there to keep him company. It's better to embarrass two people than one.

The day the notice arrived, she wanted to set off two firecrackers to celebrate. To prove to everyone that her poor academic performance was only relative, and that she was still pretty good if not compared to her friends.

"Where, where?"

Guangjin came over to show her his admission letter. It was just an admission letter, wasn't it? He pulled out hers, as if no one else had one. They were both in the same school. What the hell had this school done to admit both of them?

"Look, we have one too. We'll be alumni from now on, so be polite to me."

She took out her admission letter and showed it to Guangjin, but she didn't know why it was the same major.

In the English Department of Capital University of Physical Education (fictional, please don't take it too seriously), almost all the students in the school are competitive athletes, with only these two being amateurs.

At grandma's house, everyone spent a lot of time thinking about how they were admitted to this school. Did the school value their well-developed muscles?

"Chief, thank you for your care over the years. You've allowed me to grow here and taught me a lot. Thank you so much for your care! I'm going to school now. I'll definitely come back to see you during the holidays. Don't think I'm annoying then!"

"Sister Wang, let's hug each other. When I have a holiday and you retire, I'll go to your house to see the baby!"

"You're welcome anytime, but you still have to come back to get your salary! It makes me cry, but you have to come back every now and then. I'm so moved for so long, and then I have to see you when I come back. It's so annoying. Go away, go away. It makes me angry just looking at you, you poor kid."

"That's right, you know where our home is, so why are you following me around? If you have time, study hard! We in the department are all hoping that you can win glory for our country and bring back a gold medal, hahahahahaha——"

"I can bring back a gold medal for bragging. Do you dare to take it out?"

After saying that, she ran away. Even from a distance, she could still hear Sister Wang calling out. Her voice was full of reluctance to leave her, but she was a reserved person and expressed herself simply.

"roll"

The uncles at Daku are all retired, and Jiang Cha often visits them. It's like visiting relatives back home—close and interesting. She's about to go to school, and she's still reluctant to leave. "I call the factory my home," she says, isn't just empty talk.

After being here for a long time, she has already consciously integrated into the factory and is a part of it. Today I am proud of the factory, and tomorrow I will be proud of the factory.

On the first day of school, everything is so fresh and full of vitality.

"Hello, I'm a freshman here to report."

"Okay, you're a martial arts major?"

The registration teacher saw that she had come to register on her own and, based on her body shape, guessed that she was a martial arts major. After all, she didn't look like someone who did weightlifting, gymnastics, or swimming.

Those queuing up behind could probably guess what kind of expertise the person had. Everyone was curious about what kind of talent was coming here and whether they might be their competitors.

"English"

I was thinking about building a good relationship with her, so we could be rivals in competitions and friends in school. But it turned out she was an English major, and the teams behind her were surprised to learn that the school even had an English major.

"Oh, oh, I see. Your major is relatively small, so we'll combine accommodation with other language majors, and large classes will be held together. Okay, take it to the office inside to complete the paperwork, and then go to the General Affairs Office to pick up your things. Okay, next one, stop chatting and hurry up."

Following the teacher's directions, Jiang Cha found the office, where several desks stood in a row. They were used to handle admissions procedures, collect student allowances, and get notes to the General Affairs Office to collect items.

There was a long line outside the General Affairs Office, and everyone who came out was carrying a lot of stuff. I saw school uniforms, several sets of both long-sleeved and short-sleeved shirts. I hadn't expected their school to be so generous, handing out multiple sets of clothes right away.

It was Jiang Cha's turn. The teacher looked at her note, then at her. Without saying anything, he went in, fiddled with it for a while, and pulled out a school badge.

"No way! Teacher, the people in front of you were all carrying large and small bags, but why are you only giving me a school badge?"

Leaning forward to look inside, she saw a lot of clothes, luggage bags, shoe boxes, etc. She wasn't coveting these things, but she wanted to know why they didn't give them to her since they were all from the same school.

"They have a competition soon, and they're going abroad. The school is providing them with luggage. You're a language student, so you won't be able to use anything other than the school badge!"

"Ah? I didn't know. Sorry, teacher. I didn't mean to do that. Sorry!"

I tucked my school badge into my pocket and hurried off with my head down. It was so embarrassing. Cloth coupons haven't been abolished yet. If it weren't for the mission, which school would be so generous? They're going out to win glory for our country, so of course they have to be neat and tidy.

I found her dorm room and pushed the door open. Inside was a bunk bed. It was an eight-person room, and the conditions were pretty good. The bathroom and toilet were at the other end of the hallway, quite far from their dorm. This is important; anyone who's lived in a dorm knows that being next to a bathroom and toilet is noisy and smelly.

The scariest thing is that every school has a legend, whether it's the red-dressed senior, the long-haired girl, or the midnight singing. The various versions of bathroom legends are simply terrifying.

Jiang Cha didn't plan to stay in the dorms for long, as the school had plenty of dormitories. She planned to take a nap here every day at noon and go home the rest of the time, as it was much more comfortable and cozy at home.

"Jiang Jiang, I'm in the same dorm with a weightlifter. They say my physique isn't even strong enough for one of them to do a snatch!"
