Chapter 13: Random Thoughts

A cup of tea, two pieces of rice and a pot of ginger tea were eaten and drunk leisurely among a group of elderly people.

They were also reading the newspaper in their hands with great interest. If it weren't for the language barrier, they would have wanted to join the elderly people in chatting.

"I was looking for you in your room, why did you come out without telling me?"

The person who spoke was an assistant to the team leader, who happened to be accompanying the family members of the business group to have dinner.

The money for morning tea is not included in the room charge. I guess other people would be reluctant to pay except the business representative. He was able to come along thanks to the young lady last night.

At that time, everyone was looking at her in condemnation or making fun of her.

He was the only one who stepped forward to send the young lady back to her room. He kept comforting her on the way. Just for a few words, he got a benefit of 100 yuan last night.

He also took over the work here smoothly today, and all the daily arrangements and activities of the business representatives and their families are under his responsibility.

By following a group of rich people, just a little bit of exposure between his fingers would be enough for him to make a small fortune.

"I didn't leave the hotel? Do I need to report?"

Jiang Cha had never gone out with them before, so how could she know that everyone was miserable every time they went out.

I can’t afford to buy anything with the little salary I earn when I exchange it for foreign currency. At most, I can buy some souvenirs for my wife and children.

Who would be willing to come out for dinner? Apart from the business representative, it was her. Didn’t you see that the male assistant came here just for free?

"Some people don't know their own worth. The cost of living here isn't as simple as buying a fried dough stick at the door. A single meal of morning tea could cost you a month's salary. Doesn't that hurt?"

The person who spoke to her was the young lady from last night. If she remembered correctly, her surname was Ding and her father was the director of a home appliance factory.

This time I came here to see the development there and see if there is a chance to visit their factory.

She actually thought that the person working with her was a waiter, which was why she was so arrogant and ordered people around.

"No matter how much it costs, I can't eat it every day. I can still afford it once in a while. I'll pay for it myself, so don't worry about it. I can spend my own money however I want."

After finishing the last bite of wonton noodles, he took out a handkerchief from his pocket, wiped his mouth and raised his hand to say hello.

"Sister"

The aunt who was busy in the restaurant came over quickly, and she couldn't hold back the smile on her face.

On weekdays, customers would either call her "Auntie" or "Wu Gai". The girl was so sweet and she felt happy when they called her "Auntie"!

"Pretty girl, eighteen and a half dollars."

Jiang Cha handed the money to the auntie and left the restaurant. The money was exchanged at the hotel front desk, and the knife music in the space was inconvenient to use.

When I came back, I saw several people walking towards a room. They looked familiar and were from her unit.

"Have you had breakfast?"

Jiang Cha followed and asked the group of people. A group of old men came out and squeezed into a room to eat biscuits. They looked really pitiful.

"I'm eating right now. The food below is too expensive, so I'll just have one bite. I heard the food here is good, so I'll eat more at noon."

Alas! He couldn't even bear to eat a hot meal, which made Jiang Cha feel very uncomfortable and unhappy.

She was just an attendant, and they were the ones who actually did the work. She couldn't accept this gap.

"Come on, come on, everyone, let's go downstairs for breakfast. It's my treat, and I'd like to ask you to take care of me, a newcomer, along the way! Hurry up, there will be no seats left. Please take good care of me from now on!"

As he said that, he started pulling and dragging the person out. It was no big deal!

"Not so good, right? I heard it's very expensive down there. We can just eat some cookies up there. It's much better than eating out normally."

The guy next to Jiang Cha murmured to her that it was not a good idea to let a girl pay for the meal, especially when it was so expensive.

"Let's go! Now that we're here, we have to try some local food!"

It took a lot of effort to convince the men. If she had known this would happen, she should have waited for them. They still had to stay for another day, so Jiang Cha decided to take care of breakfast.

It's okay if it's hard on ordinary days, but how could she make people suffer so much on this trip?

Why can those people be so picky while these lovely people have to endure, hold it in, and suffer?

"Sister, I'm back!"

The waiters here can understand some Mandarin, and the teams that come here often can barely understand it after listening to it many times.

"Please give me a few more servings of shrimp dumplings, siu mai, egg tarts, and barbecued pork buns, and a bowl of wonton noodles for each person, thank you!"

Seeing that everyone seemed hesitant to speak, Jiang Cha didn't say anything but poured tea for them one by one.

Even with this, she was still worried that she wouldn't be full. A group of young men could only eat a few bites of food to be half full.

If she wasn't afraid of attracting too much attention, she would have continued to order. How could she have the energy to work if she wasn't full?

"It's a small portion, just fill your stomach. Eat more at lunchtime. Once you're full, you'll have more energy to work. Then you can carry my luggage for me."

Everyone knew what she meant, and they were deeply moved. As expected of someone in their department, they were truly compassionate.

They thought they were being held back by the newcomers this time, but who knew they were here to let them enjoy themselves?

Not to mention her luggage bag, she could even carry her entire body back.

"Pretty girl, there's a little more, and there's more to come."

The auntie pushed a small cart with several layers of food stacked on it, all of which were ordered by them.

Jiang Cha also came to help, placing baskets of food on the table, and the wonton noodles that had just been served also arrived.

The table was full, and a few people felt a little embarrassed. They looked at each other and waited for the other person to pick up their chopsticks.

"Let's eat! It won't taste good if it gets cold. Do you have any tea left? I'll add some water."

Eat one shrimp dumpling at a time, finish the wontons in a few bites, and finish the bamboo noodles with two chopsticks.
