Lunch was served in the dining car, so there was no way to make do with lunch boxes. Any food would have gone cold in a day, unless she was crazy about popsicles.
When I came back, I saw the bed was piled with things, and the things on the bed were neatly stacked on the floor.
This person is quite particular. If she had just thrown it down, would she have paid for taking up two beds?
When I saw the people lying on the bed, I felt it was no wonder, but I felt secretly uncomfortable in my heart.
"Doctor Su, are you on a business trip again?"
Yes, they met again, in the same carriage. Jiang Cha thought to herself that she would rather have a fight with Jipin than see him. Every time she saw him, she felt uneasy.
"Well, you're on a business trip too? Your company is pretty awesome. It's almost Chinese New Year, and they let a little girl like you go out alone."
“It’s not a big deal if I can’t work.”
I climbed up as I spoke. I felt safer on the upper bunk. I had to stay away from him so I wouldn't get covered in blood.
"Who did it? Can you afford to pay for it if it gets dirty?"
The shrill voice made loud voices piercing. She covered her face with a novel and pricked up her ears to listen to the sounds below.
"This is my place. Your things are all taken up here."
He's really pretentious, but I have to say that face is really useful.
"Um, sorry! I didn't mean to take your spot. Thank you for coding so neatly."
It was over? Just like that? No scratching his face until it bled, no cursing his ancestors. It just ended so simply that she couldn't understand it.
I put the novel away in disappointment and looked down. I saw Dr. Su's expressionless face. The owner of the thing was a girl wearing a woolen coat. I didn't know what she looked like, but she was pretty cold-resistant.
Perhaps the disappointment on his face was too obvious, which attracted the greeting of Dr. Su.
"I thought you were asleep. It's so boring up there. Come down and chat with me."
I knew he was going to cause trouble, and the people below were eyeing him covetously. I'd better forget about getting her involved.
"Doctor Su, please take your time. I get nervous when I see doctors. Maybe it's because I got so many injections when I was a kid that I get weak in the knees and scared when I see a doctor."
Doesn't the bed smell good? Who wants to see his fake, polite face?
"I like doctors the most. Let's chat and kill time! I didn't realize you were a doctor. What a noble profession!"
Oh my, I hope Dr. Su won’t be too happy with Mei by his side.
I don’t know how long they chatted, but they slept soundly in the warm bed.
I got up and went to the dining car for dinner. I missed the two of them perfectly and gave myself a thumbs up in my heart.
After turning off the lights at night, it was so cold that it seemed like the chill could seep through the car windows.
I quietly put a hot water bottle under my feet and held another in my arms, thinking about sleeping until dawn.
I heard voices downstairs in my sleep, and when I listened carefully, I could tell it was the person in the lower bunk.
"Doctor Su, are you cold tonight? I was practically freezing last night, and the blanket in the car wasn't clean. Who knows who's used it before? Girls should be more refined, especially when it comes to hygiene."
Jiang Cha nodded repeatedly when she heard her words before she opened her eyes. Yes, you must pay attention to hygiene in public places.
When she came down with the toiletries, the girl looked at her with disgust.
"How dirty is this quilt? I didn't even open it last night and just slept in my clothes. You slept in it directly. You're really not polite at all. Doctors are all very particular. It's definitely not okay for someone as sloppy as you."
The woman, bleary-eyed, clutching a toothbrush, chattered non-stop. The central idea was that she was worthy of Dr. Su, a germaphobe.
"You see me covering myself with a quilt when I sleep at night, but you don't see that I'm wrapped in a blanket underneath. Bringing your own quilt is convenient for business trips, but it's cold in a sleeper berth. It's better to squeeze in a hard seat and stay warm.
It's only five in the morning, clearly time for bed, yet you insist on rambling on and on. I don't know if you're clean or not, but you really have no manners."
After that, I took my things and went to the bathroom to wash up. I woke up early so I didn't have to queue anywhere. After I cleaned up and came back with my thermos, everyone else was up. I saw that they had been woken up because of the noise.
She was in a bad mood early in the morning, so she stopped nagging and went to bed to sleep.
How could that be possible? A nap was so precious that she didn't deserve it. The elder sister came down from the bed, stepping down the ladder with a clang.
The big brother on the opposite bed sat on the bed and started to sing a piece of "Lin Hai Xue Yuan" with enough strength to shake through the bed board below.
"Crossing the forest, crossing the snowy plains, with a breathtaking aura..."
"good"
There were sounds of applause and cheers coming from passengers in their own carriage as well as those walking in the corridor.
The girl in the lower bunk suddenly sat up and looked at everyone with a wronged look on her face, as if it was immoral for everyone to disturb her rest.
"Where are you going this time, Doctor Su?"
Jiang Cha leaned on the guardrail and asked Dr. Su below, wanting to know where he was going.
"Shandong, we'll arrive tonight. I hope I can take this train again next time."
At least we don't have to sit together. I feel an indescribable sense of discomfiture when I'm with him. I can't think of the specific reason, but it's just uncomfortable.
Knowing he was leaving, they were so happy they ate an extra bowl of rice. It was that shrill-voiced girl who was so reluctant to let Dr. Su go when he got off the car. If you didn't know better, you would think they were filming a movie!
"You know where Dr. Su's unit is, right? Give me a copy quickly."
She looked up at Jiang Cha on the upper bunk with a look of impatience, as if someone owed her money.
"I just told you this morning that you have no manners, and it's true. You are not allowed to disclose other people's privacy (including work units) without their permission."
After saying that, he lay back on the bed. In such a cold weather, instead of staying in bed and thinking about strange men, what else could it be like?
