Chapter 47: Team Wipeout

When I woke up in the morning, it was still stormy outside and there was no rain all night.

After washing up, Jiang Cha went downstairs and saw Goudan and the others working on improving the beds.

After all, I just used straw and leaves to make do in the beginning. It has been raining outside and the temperature has dropped quickly, so I decided to do it again.

There was no way out, so we had to make do with what was available. When Jiang Cha came down, several people were busy removing the door!

The doors of each room are made of solid wood without any hollow carvings. Once the lock is removed, it becomes a great bed board.

Except for the toilet door and the door of the ginger tea room upstairs, they took everything apart.

They put together 7 single beds and this time everyone moved into the bedroom. They no longer slept in the living room on the first floor. The typhoon freed them from guarding the door for a while.

In addition, the temperature dropped rapidly, so in order to avoid catching a cold and delaying the next journey, it was necessary to sleep in a comfortable and warm place.

Jiang Cha made her own "bed" thickly covered and covered the door panel with a layer of straw.

There were five layers of blankets on top, which felt warm to the touch. They had brought a lot of blankets from the base, enough to use as a bed or even a carpet on the floor.

There were also a few blankets left for covering herself at night, ensuring that she could have a warm night.

I went downstairs to prepare dinner, and they were still busy cleaning up.

I cooked a pot of seafood porridge and boiled eggs. The porridge was filled with plenty of ingredients, all of which were found in the camp kitchen.

The seafood here is not expensive, and the dried goods can be preserved for a long time. We brought a lot from the camp, and they were all cheap.

I checked the stored water and found that there is still a lot. If that doesn't work, I can use the rainwater outside. I just haven't figured out how to get the water yet.

The three large boxes that Goudan and his friends carried in were full of food.

Rice, noodles, oil, various seasonings, canned food, dried seafood and preserved meats.

They also brought in half a wall of firewood. It was originally stored in the servants' house, but they brought it all in when they saw it was going to rain.

These supplies can even ensure that they have good food and drink for a month, not to mention ten days or half a month.

After a hearty breakfast, everyone sat on simple straw cushions and began to discuss the most important matters of the day: what to eat for lunch and dinner.

No need to be nervous, no need to carefully observe your surroundings, no need to be ready to fight at any time.

It is a rare time to relax, and for them, this typhoon landing is the best time to rest.

After it passes, you can basically only relax like this when you return.

After much discussion, they decided to have pickled meat and potatoes with rice and canned stewed vegetables for lunch.

We had rice noodles for dinner. The dry rice noodles looked especially like the vermicelli noodles stewed with pork.

After the discussion, several people divided the work, and some people went upstairs and downstairs to check whether the doors and windows were sturdy.

Someone checked to see if there was any water leak and whether the sewers in the bathroom and kitchen were backflowing.

Finally, pour the cooking oil into a small bowl and place a piece of cloth on it as an oil lamp.

It is impossible to prepare everything, such as the oil lamp that is currently being experimented with.

Everyone forgot to bring candles, and the doors and windows were sealed with wooden boards. During the day, you could barely see clearly with the light from the gaps between the boards.

It definitely won’t work at night. Last night I just used a stick to light a fire.

Fortunately, the house was not very well sealed, so they did not suffocate to death when they cooked inside.

The day passed happily in eating and drinking, and everyone was quite satisfied with today's meal.

They had even agreed on breakfast for tomorrow morning. Jiang Cha didn't have to wash the dishes and clean up. She could go upstairs to wash up while they were working.

Lying on the warm bed, I thought about how I shivered with cold last night, barely covering myself with a banana leaf.

It was one of the most embarrassing moments she had ever experienced in all these years.

There are a lot of supplies in the space, but it's a pity that this is not a suitable place to take them out.

Jiang Cha was soon wrapped in a warm blanket and fell into a deep sleep. He didn't even realize that someone had appeared near them in the rain.

"Good morning!"

When I went downstairs, I saw Goudan and the others looking serious, discussing something.

Seeing that something was wrong, Jiang Cha went over and looked at them curiously.

"Last night, someone took advantage of the wind and rain to peek inside the gate for quite a while. Luckily, we're used to having someone on guard at night, otherwise, we wouldn't have known there were such desperate people."

Looking out from the gap left behind, it was still windy and rainy. Anyone who dared to come here at this time must be really risking his life.

The place where they lived was a wealthy area, and the houses all faced the European-style buildings of that time.

The materials used to build houses are bricks, stones, cement, etc. Ordinary people even just build sheds at home.

People in tropical areas build very simple houses, especially those that looked like the sheds used to watch watermelons.

During the typhoon, not only did the trees get uprooted, but many people's sheds were also blown everywhere.

If you walk on the street now, you may be hit by a roof falling from the sky even if you are not blown away by the typhoon.

The wooden boards they nailed outside their doors and windows were the most common and effective protective measures of that era.

Every day, hearing the clanging noise outside, they felt sorry for the monkey soldiers in the camp.

It started raining not long after they returned that day, and the typhoon soon arrived, leaving them no time to prepare.

Just thinking about the group of seriously injured soldiers who had no food or water was simply "a horrible sight".

After all, if they were fine, it wouldn't be long before they would go to war with us.

So, everyone must die, either by killing each other, or by dying from a serious injury, or by being hunted by wild beasts.
