Chapter 8 What's so great about it

After listening to her description, Uncle Liu tapped his pen on the notebook, pondered for a moment and said;

"Wait a moment, I'll have someone find you some clothes. After dinner, come to my dorm and take a nap.

We need to have a meeting and confirm whether you are safe and have not been followed."

After saying that, he left. A moment later, a female police officer came in and said, "I'll take you to take a shower and change clothes. I live in the dormitory and we are about the same height. I'm sure you can wear my clothes."

After saying that, he pulled her away and said, "You haven't eaten yet? Take a shower first. Political Commissar Liu just gave you some new soap and towels. I'll get you some food." The decisive female police officer looks so cool.

She took her change of clothes and went into the police station's bathhouse. No one came to take a shower so early in the morning, otherwise she would be even more embarrassed. She couldn't bear the thought of being watched naked.

After she had a good night's sleep, she found a policewoman waiting for her at the door. She ate first and then had a good night's sleep. Porridge, steamed buns, and some pickles—this was quite good treatment, considering many families couldn't even get enough steamed bread these days.

When they reached Uncle Liu's dorm, they went in on their own. The female police officer had other work to do. Jiang Cha ate and drank her fill and went to sleep. She passed the information she had given Uncle Liu to her colleagues, and together they discussed how to set up surveillance. They would keep an eye on the man named Wang, find out who the woman he was in contact with was, and then track them down.

At the same time, the military district was notified and their cooperation was needed. The steel plant has tens of thousands of employees, and such a large-scale investigation is a very arduous task.

The knock on the door woke Jiang Cha who was still dreaming. When she opened the door, it was a policewoman calling her.

"Political Commissar Liu asked me to wake you up. Several military district leaders have arrived. They want to invite you over to talk to them."

After washing my face, I went straight to the meeting room with the policewoman. When I pushed the door open, there was smoke everywhere. These people were trying to become immortals!

"Comrade Scout, come and tell us what good things you have done."

As soon as he entered the door, he heard a lazy voice. He tilted his head and saw his childhood friend, Goudaner, standing next to Uncle Liu and asking him in a mischievous manner.

No wonder the original owner, such a well-behaved baby, always fought with him when he was a child. What’s the point of being handsome? He always looked like he deserved a beating since he was a child.

"Hello everyone, I'm Jiang Cha." Don't argue with him. Say hello to the leaders first. We're good kids. "Little Jiang Jiang, don't you recognize us?"

Several big men in military uniforms asked her questions, and then she looked carefully and found that they were all uncles from the original compound.

When the original owner's parents were around, she was known as a good kid in the compound, a good student with a cute appearance. It's not like they haven't been in touch with Jiang Cha in recent years, but the introverted, even a little autistic original owner rarely spoke to them, and these rough old men thought she was afraid to talk to them.

"Hello uncles, why are you here too, stinky dog?" He relaxed since they were all familiar faces. The original owner's memories were all there, and no one would notice if he changed his personality little by little, or changed back to his original state.

"I am on a mission with my leader, unlike some people who like to throw manure at other people's homes in the middle of the night~" He is wearing a military uniform, a short buzz cut, bronze skin, big eyes, a high nose bridge and a broken mouth. What a childhood friend, what a childhood sweetheart.

"Zhao Goudan, are you done yet? I haven't seen you expose my shortcomings for several years. You are seven years old and still wet the bed, and..." He was covered by his mouth before he could finish his words. If he could beat him, he would have beaten him long ago.

"Kids, stop messing around. Let's have a meeting." Uncle Liu knocked on the table, and everyone quickly sat down. "Jiang Cha, you see, we all know each other. Tell us what you know again. We'll try to find some details here."

Since Uncle Liu said they were all acquaintances, they must be very reliable, otherwise he would not have asked her to come over.

"Half a month ago, the steel mill was recruiting workers, and I went to take the exam... The woman came back twice, and one of the times she was close to me. I held my breath for fear of being discovered by her. After she left, I took a deep breath and seemed to smell the scent of a snack, fragrant and sweet."

She suddenly remembered that she smelled a sweet scent after the woman left. It was a very faint scent and it was definitely not perfume. Now there were only cloying floral scents such as osmanthus and jasmine on the market. It was definitely not this kind of sweet scent like the one from a cake shop.

Everyone's eyes lit up. This is good, with a sweet taste. Then they went to Lao Wang's house to stake out the place. Their goal was clear.

Then he continued, "They were planning to find another trustworthy person to bring the explosives in, but they haven't found one yet. This Lao Wang is the director of the Revolutionary Committee. I heard him being called that in the alley when I was following him."

She couldn't reveal her identity as someone who had entered the hospital to drug or dig for treasure. She tried very hard to remain calm in front of these powerful people, but was mistakenly perceived as a child who was frightened. But she was actually very brave. Thank you all, she was so frightened that her legs gave out, she was too afraid to tell the truth in front of them.

"How come Old Li raised his girl to be so timid? And yet you did something so big."

"You didn't agree when I wanted to adopt you. If you were my daughter, you would have kicked Gou Dan out."

Her uncle Liu was still muttering that everyone wanted to adopt her at the beginning, but each family’s situation was different. Some had many children and the burden was heavy, while some were unmarried and still lived in the dormitory. Could he raise the child well?

"I told you to come to our house, but you refused to go. I see you must have had a hard time at his house these past two years. But don't worry, I often teach Li Jie a lesson. This can be considered as revenge for you.

Although this guy is a jerk, he has protected her like a sister since she was a child. They have not seen each other much in recent years, but he would secretly vent his anger on her. Maybe Li Jie is afraid of being beaten because he hasn't come back for a long time?

"Where do you live now? I heard you moved out. When do you start working? I'm going to pick you up and let my mom make dumplings for you. I remember you loved eating the dumplings my mom made when you were a kid."

While the bosses were perfecting the plan, we quietly came out and chatted in the corridor.

"No. 29 Wanshou Road, my mother's old house, is now owned by a distant relative. It's close to the steel plant. Taking the subway is much faster than taking the bus, and it's definitely safe. You're still worried about that area."
