Chapter 360 Escaping the Bandit's Den

The female bandit twitched in pain, but did not wake up.

Xiao Yunying touched the back of her hand and cursed under her breath, "Serves me right for molesting a child."

Luo Yang threw down the knife and said, "Mother, let's go."

"Let's go, let's pick up a girl first, then go find Yuanxuan and the others."

"Has Mother found Yuanxuan?"

"We found it without really knowing what was going on." Xiao Yunying peeked through the crack in the door to make sure no one was there before taking Luo Yang out, making sure to close the door behind her.

"Who is the girl Mother is looking for?"

"A girl who had been abducted. At first, I went to the wrong house and mistook her for you. Seeing how pitiful she looked, I agreed to take her out with me."

"Well, from now on, don't call me 'Mother.' If we encounter any other bandits, I'll say I'm taking you back to where the children are imprisoned, understand?"

She couldn't very well enter or leave the supermarket in front of others, lest she scare the bandits or her own people.

Luo Yang had already noticed her outfit: "I know."

The two went to the second-in-command's room, and Xiao Yunying whispered through the door, "Miss, did you hear that?"

The sound of a door bolt being pulled open came from inside, and the young woman said nervously and excitedly, "My benefactor, you've come."

She saw Luo Yang beside her and said, "Our benefactor has found the person to save."

Xiao Yunying didn't have time to chat with her: "We found it, let's go. I need to go rescue other children now. If we encounter bandits on the way, remember not to run. I'll say I'm escorting you back, understand?"

"I understand."

Xiao Yunying looked her up and down: "You're dressed too neatly, you don't look like one at all..."

She looked ravaged, but she didn't say it aloud.

"Ruffle your hair a bit yourself."

Then she turned around and tugged at Luo Yang's collar, making his already messy hair even messier.

The girl was clever; she understood what she meant and ruffled her hair a little.

"Let's go, you two go first."

The two women were in front, with Xiao Yunying behind, pointing out the directions.

They only chose to walk on the darkest paths, without deliberately hiding, and as it turned out, they didn't encounter anyone.

Luo Yang was puzzled: "Why are there so few people in this bandit stronghold? Their vigilance is so low."

The young woman said, "On the way here, I heard someone say that they had taken a group of people out of the country recently and that they would be back tonight. We were going to celebrate while waiting for them to return."

Xiao Yunying said, "That's right, they were all drinking up ahead. Before I found you, I went to the wine storage place and put a sleeping potion in the wine. I don't know if it will work."

When they arrived at the place where the children were kept, they saw two people slumped over a table in the open space, snoring loudly.

Xiao Yunying mustered her courage and went over to poke at them: "They're not awake. The sleeping pills must have taken effect."

Luo Yang rushed to the front of the house: "Mother, the door is locked."

"Girl, could you keep an eye on the people for me?"

Xiao Yunying shielded herself with her body, took an axe from the supermarket, and walked over: "Move aside, I'll break the lock."

Luo Yang didn't ask where the axe came from; he knew that even if he did, Xiao Yunying wouldn't tell the truth.

Knowing that the medicine had taken effect, Xiao Yunying became much bolder. Without restraint, she swung the axe and smashed open the door lock in a few blows.

When the door was opened, the children inside were huddled together, clinging tightly to each other.

She quickly walked up to Chen Yuanxuan and saw that the child was sleeping against the wall with a half-eaten steamed bun in his hand, and she felt that something was wrong with him.

"Yuanxuan, Yuanxuan, wake up."

Chen Yuanxuan opened his eyes groggily: "Sister Yunying, is that you?"

Seeing that his face was pale but his cheeks were flushed, Xiao Yunying reached out and touched his forehead, and at the same time noticed that there was a red and swollen patch on his forehead.

"Does he have a fever?"

She wondered how Chen Yuanxuan could sleep so soundly under such circumstances.

Chen Yuanxuan threw himself into Xiao Yunying's arms and cried, "It really is you, waaaaah, I was so scared."

Luo Yang said, "Stop crying, let's leave here first."

Chen Yuanxuan sobbed, trying his best to stop his tears: "Okay, let's go quickly."

A boy of about eight or nine years old nearby asked, "Are you here to rescue them? Can you take us out with you?"

All the children looked at Xiao Yunying with anticipation. She nodded and said, "Okay, but there's one thing: you must listen to me. Do whatever I tell you to do, and no matter what happens, you're not allowed to run around or shout. Understand?"

Since entering the bandits' den, there have been few dangerous incidents, which has greatly boosted Xiao Yunying's confidence.

Apart from Chen Yuanxuan, the youngest of these children is probably seven or eight years old, so they should be able to control their behavior and emotions very well.

The children responded in unison. Xiao Yunying led the group of children out, making sure to put the door lock back on as a formality.

Following her memory, she headed towards the gate. There was no other way; she wasn't alone anymore, and she couldn't use the supermarket bug anymore.

Now that they could no longer openly walk around the village, Xiao Yunying, based on her experience from when she came, took the lead by sticking close to various cover, and only called the children over after confirming that there were no problems.

As they approached the gate, Xiao Yunying took out a pair of night-vision binoculars and went forward alone to observe the surroundings.

"These people are really living a carefree life. They don't seem to worry at all about anyone sneaking into their hideout at night. They don't even have a night watchman."

She always felt that if it was officials from the government who colluded with bandits, it would be officials from other places, if not from Donglin City.

Otherwise, these bandits wouldn't have been able to entrenched themselves here so nonchalantly without ever being attacked, and the people they raised in the village would have lost their sense of vigilance.

Xiao Yunying put away her binoculars, went to the gate, and pushed it hard; it could be opened.

He waved behind him: "Nobody's here, come on over."

Upon receiving the message, the children rushed over, and Xiao Yunying hurriedly instructed them, "Keep your footsteps quiet and keep your voices down."

After the children had all left the gate, she closed it and they walked down the mountain together.

The children were thrilled to have left the bandits' gate unharmed.

It was too dark, and the light was even dimmer in the mountains, but she didn't use any light source, afraid of being too conspicuous, and led the children down the mountain along the path trodden out by the bandits.

"Watch your step, watch where you're going, don't twist your ankle."

Chen Yuanxuan was walking unsteadily because of a fever, so Xiao Yunying squatted down and carried him on her back.

"Young Master Chen, what are you still doing with that steamed bun? Aren't you full?"

Chen Yuanxuan leaned on her back and looked at the half-eaten steamed bun in his hand: "I don't know either, just throw it away."

He loosened his grip, and the steamed bun fell to the ground.

Xiao Yunying kicked the steamed bun into the grass: "Are you hungry? I'll cook you something delicious after I take you home."

He replied weakly, "It's a promise, no going back on it."

"When have I ever gone back on my word?"

"I trust you……"

Chen Yuanxuan's voice grew softer and softer, as if he were drifting off to sleep.

Xiao Yunying shook him awake: "Don't sleep. You have a fever, and it's cold in the mountains. Don't let the wind blow on you."

Chen Yuanxuan tried to stay awake: "Okay, I won't sleep."
