Xiao Yunying said seriously, "Did you hear that? My sister said she won't forgive you. You can leave now."
The pampered eldest daughter of the Minister's family, who had been spoiled since childhood, had never been treated like this before. Pointing at Zheng Yunwan, she said, "How can you be so petty? Didn't Yinzhu apologize to you?"
Xiao Yunying glared at her coldly: "Take your hand away and stop pointing fingers in my house. Why should we forgive you just because you apologize? You say we're petty? I'll slap you now and then apologize to you, okay?"
Yin Yu hurriedly stepped forward and pressed down on Zuo Lanzhi's arm, protecting her and taking two steps back, as if afraid that Xiao Yunying would really hit her.
Seeing Xiao Yunying's disdainful gaze, Yinyu's mind raced, and finally, it seemed she had confirmed something.
She stepped forward and bowed to Xiao Yunying: "Please don't blame me, Miss. My young lady treats her servants well. Yinzhu has grown up with my young lady since childhood and has become a bit impatient because of her pampering. She only offended you because she saw that my young lady was tired from her journey and wanted to find a place for her to rest as soon as possible."
She paused, then bowed to Zheng Yunwan: "Yinzhu was indeed in the wrong. I hope you won't hold it against her. It's getting late, and we really can't get back before the curfew in Donglin City. I hope you will have mercy on us and forgive Yinzhu's rudeness, and let us stay the night."
Zuo Lanzhi said from behind her, "Yinyu, there's no need to beg them. We can stay at someone else's house for the night. We can just give them more money. I don't believe we can't find a place to stay."
Do you have silver?
Xiao Yunying's eyes flickered: "What a joke, how much silver are you willing to give?"
Zuo Lanzhi thought Xiao Yunying was just an ordinary peasant girl who had never seen the world, so she wanted to use money to pressure her.
"How about 100 taels for a night?"
Xiao Yunying opened her mouth slightly, looking quite surprised: "One hundred taels for one person to stay one night? Then it's three hundred taels for three people?"
Zuo Lanzhi originally intended for three people to pay one hundred taels, but she was in a fit of anger and seeing Xiao Yunying's unworldly appearance, she raised her head and said, "That's right, how about it, you've never seen so much silver in your life, have you?"
Xiao Yunying nodded: "It is quite a lot. Give me the money and I will find you a place to stay."
Zuo Lanzhi glanced at her disdainfully: "Now you want us to stay? We're not staying. We'll find somewhere else to stay."
Xiao Yunying said calmly, "Sure, take care."
He then sighed and said slowly, "Except for my house, which is newly built, all the other houses in the village are old houses. They raise chickens, ducks, pigs, and cows in their yards. I don't know if they have fleas, or who has lived in the places you've found. I wonder if you might have contracted any diseases."
Zuo Lanzhi's face turned ugly; she couldn't accept anything Xiao Yunying had said.
But she simply couldn't bring herself to say anything conciliatory.
Having no other choice, Yin Yu said, "Miss, my young lady is quite particular about cleanliness. I would be grateful if you could find her a place to stay."
Xiao Yunying looked at her, her expression saying, "Go on, tell me."
Yinyu hurriedly said, "My young lady's luggage is still with Madam Luo. We will definitely offer a reward money as soon as the luggage arrives tomorrow."
Xiao Yunying then spoke up, "Alright, I'm not an unreasonable person. It's getting late, so it's not good to really kick you out."
She said to Zheng Yunwan, "Take them to the courtyard where Wanjun's mother lives. I'm a little hungry, I'll go find something to eat first."
Wan Jun is not here today, and only Wan Jun's mother lives in that courtyard. This young lady doesn't need to worry about staying there.
Upon hearing this, Zuo Lanzhi asked, "Don't I live here?"
Xiao Yunying said, "I don't want strangers to stay in my house. The house over there is newly built, and the bedding is all new. It's no worse than this place."
Yinzhu wanted to say something more, but a look from Yinyu made her swallow it back.
The sky is now dusky, not yet completely dark.
Zheng Yunwan led them to their accommodation. Xiao Yunying first helped Luo Xin wash her face, and then opened the large pot.
The pot is currently filled with stewed chicken with potatoes and steamed dumplings.
She glanced at the portion size: "You didn't have dinner?"
Luo Xin wiped the water off her face with a towel: "We want to wait for Mom to come back so we can eat together."
Xiao Yunying washed a few cucumbers and patted them: "The pheasant my mother sent?"
Luo Xin handed the towel to Luo Chen, asking him to help hang it on the rack, and replied, "It wasn't sent by Grandma, it was caught by Dad in the mountains this afternoon."
"Luo Sheng caught it?" Xiao Yunying asked, tossing cucumber. "Did he go up the mountain this afternoon?"
Luo Xin said uncertainly, "I think so, but I'm not sure either."
Anyway, when my father came back, he brought two pheasants.
Xiao Yunying said nonchalantly, "Alright, let's get ready to eat."
She set the food on the table, waiting for Zheng Yunwan to come back so they could have dinner together.
She specifically instructed Zheng Yunwan and the children that if she came back late again in the future, they didn't need to wait for her to eat; they should eat first, as she wouldn't go hungry.
The next morning, Xiao Yunying got up early.
She couldn't sleep well because she had something on her mind. She made breakfast, saw the children off to the carriage, cleaned two rooms, and aired out the bedding.
If Luo Sheng's mother is coming, she definitely can't be allowed to stay at the farmhand's place.
She patted the blanket and sighed, "I wonder if this Madam Luo is easy to get along with."
As the wife of an official, she certainly wouldn't be as down-to-earth as her mother; she would likely be bound by all sorts of rules and regulations.
When Xin'er got up, they were eating when Zuo Lanzhi came over with two maids, saying they wanted to wait for Madam Luo to arrive.
