After finishing her meal and tidying up, Xiao Yunying drew some pictures in the room for a while. Feeling her eyes getting tired, she pinched the bridge of her nose with her fingers.
I had just put down my pen when I faintly heard a knocking sound at the door.
Xiao Yunying opened the door and listened carefully. After confirming that someone was knocking, she called out softly, "Coming."
As soon as I entered the courtyard, I heard Luo Li's voice: "Mother, open the door quickly! Your eldest son is back!"

“We bought a lot of things, and I’m going to help Dad carry them.”
Luo Li excitedly went to the carriage to get things for home. Xiao Yunying could only accompany Madam Luo into the reception room first. Zheng Yunwan heard the noise and came out to help, making hot tea for everyone to warm up.
She added two pieces of charcoal to the stove and took the kettle down: "Has Madam Luo eaten? Would you like me to make something to eat?"
Upon hearing this form of address, Madam Luo's face fell: "How come I've become Madam Luo again after just one month?"
Xiao Yunying: "...Mother, I'm not used to it yet, and I forgot for a moment."
"You'll get used to it if you call me that a few more times." Madam Luo finally calmed down and smiled. "We've eaten our dry rations, we're not hungry, so we don't need to bother anymore."

Xiao Yunying watched as the children carried large and small bags of things into the living room, while Luo Sheng carried two large boxes directly into his room.
No one asked about anyone else, which shows that they had no idea the children's birth mother had arrived.

After she fetched water for Luo Sheng to wash up, they went back to the house together. As soon as they closed the door, Luo Sheng asked, "Did someone come to visit?"

Luo Sheng draped a cloth over the washstand: "You're just letting her move into our house like this?"

She only said that your carriage broke down on the way, which delayed you and that's why you arrived earlier... Could she be lying?"
