Side Story – Luo Sheng and Xiao Yunying

Xiao Yunying looked at him suspiciously and said, "You didn't ask for this, did you?"

Without military power, he wouldn't have to stay in the capital to protect the emperor.

Luo Sheng readily admitted, "You guessed right again."

Xiao Yunying looked at him with an "I knew it" expression. The Luo family had never valued official positions and power. They took away the military power and that was that. He might even be happy to be free.

"That's good. Keeping a second-class noble title is enough to intimidate people. I don't want you to be a general all day fighting and killing. It's too dangerous, and I'm worried about you."

"Then I'll have to rely on my wife to support me from now on."

Xiao Yunying glanced at him with a smile: "Come on, you've only lost your official position, the Luo family's wealth is still there, don't pretend to be poor."

The two chatted in the room for a while, then Xiao Yunying impatiently urged him to go wash up.

When Luo Sheng returned, he brought the child in with him, saying, "Come see our daughter."

Xiao Yunying perked up and looked at it carefully; it wasn't as wrinkled as it was when she was first born.

Her eyes weren't open yet; overall, she wasn't exactly pretty, but she wasn't ugly either.

Let's see how it goes. Whether it takes after me or Luo Sheng, its appearance shouldn't be too bad.

She tapped the child's little hand: "Don't forget to name the child."

"We've decided on a name. We'll call her Qin'er. Xin'er is our precious darling, and so is Qin'er."

Xiao Yunying heard a slight noise coming from the doorway and saw a small shadow peeking through the crack in the door. She knew that Luo Sheng had probably already discovered that the little girl was eavesdropping outside, so she pretended not to see it.

"Luo Qin, it sounds beautiful. From now on, this little baby will be our precious darling, just like Xin'er. Xin'er said she likes her little sister, so I think Xin'er will definitely love this little sister very much."

The door was gently closed, and the girl outside, thinking no one had noticed her movements, tiptoed away.

Luo Sheng and Xiao Yunying exchanged a glance and smiled knowingly.

Xiao Yunying lay back down: "My body is sore, I want to lie down for a while longer. You must be tired from traveling, why don't you go and get some sleep too?"

"Would you like something to eat?"

"I'm not hungry yet, let's talk about it later."

"Okay, then you can sleep peacefully."

Luo Sheng carried the child out of the house, and after closing the door, he made a decision.

Pregnancy is so difficult for women, and the process of childbirth is so dangerous.

He couldn't let his beloved person go through these hardships and dangers again.

He made a decision on his own, without telling anyone.

Unaware of the situation, Xiao Yunying initially thought she wouldn't have any more children in the next few years, since she was still young and could have children a few years later.

Moreover, it is currently a period of national mourning, so pregnancy is not allowed.

But to her surprise, seven years later, when she had made all the preparations to have a second child, two years passed and she still hadn't gotten pregnant.

She once thought that her body had been damaged by her first childbirth.

The doctor couldn't find anything wrong with them.

Could it be that Luo Sheng has a health problem?

He's been poisoned and injured before; let's hope he doesn't develop any more hidden illnesses.

Once the thought crossed her mind, Xiao Yunying couldn't sit still. To save Luo Sheng's face, she found a reason to have him accompany her to see a doctor and made him go to Chen Family Medical Clinic together, where she forced him to stand in front of the doctor.

"Don't shy away from medical advice, Luo Sheng. It's best if we're not sick. If we are, we'll get treatment, and I'll keep it a secret from you."

Luo Sheng had no reason to refuse. If he resisted too much, his wife, with her intelligence, would surely guess something. So he could only bite the bullet and let the doctor take his pulse, hoping that the doctor wouldn't find anything wrong.

Unfortunately, the doctor did not hear his plea, and although the doctor saw the signal he gave, he chose to refuse to conceal it.

Since he was the resident doctor at the Chen family clinic, he was naturally more familiar with Xiao Yunying. How could he possibly deceive Xiao Yunying for Luo Sheng's sake?

So he told the truth in a tactful way.

Xiao Yunying stared wide-eyed at Luo Sheng in disbelief: "What? You've been taking contraceptives for a long time?"

She thought that only women could drink contraceptives in ancient times, but it turns out that men could also drink them.

After being exposed, Luo Sheng glared at the doctor and said, "Yun Ying, don't be angry."

Xiao Yunying stopped him, asking, "Doctor, will this medicine harm your body?"

The doctor also told the truth that this kind of medicine would more or less harm the body, but compared to women taking it, it would be less harmful to men. After stopping the medicine, they could take a few doses of herbal decoction to regulate their bodies.

Xiao Yunying grabbed the medicine and said to him, "Let's go home."

After the two got into the carriage, Luo Sheng couldn't tell if she was angry or had any other emotion. He quietly apologized, "Yun Ying, don't be angry. I just... didn't want you to suffer the pain of childbirth again."

He suddenly remembered that his wife liked to read all sorts of storybooks, and he would occasionally flip through them. Some of the content could really lead to misunderstandings, and his tone became a little flustered: "I don't have any mistresses or anything like that, you can't get the wrong idea."

Xiao Yunying's expression remained unchanged: "I'm not angry, and I didn't mean anything by it."

She just didn't know what to say.

In recent years, when they have sex, they don't leave any semen inside their bodies.

If she occasionally loses control, Xiao Yunying will take a bath, and if she's really worried, she'll take medicine.

She had condoms in the supermarket, but she was embarrassed and worried that Luo Sheng wouldn't be used to them, so she didn't take them out.

Looking back now, she realized that during the last two years of national mourning, she lost control a few times. She was very nervous, afraid of getting pregnant, knowing that if people found out, she would be beheaded.
