Chapter 3 Returning Home

The matter has been settled and the villagers who came to watch the fun have dispersed.

After solving the source of Jiang Ning's tragedy in the book, she walked towards home according to her memory.

The Jiang family lived at the eastern end of the village. Because of their large population, Jiang Ning's maternal grandparents had two children, both married. His uncle had three children: two boys, his eldest brother Jiang Jianguo and his second brother Jiang Weimin, and a girl named Jiang Xiaomei. His eldest brother was married, and his wife was Liu Zhaodi. Together, they raised two children. Because the family was poor, his second brother remained unmarried. Jiang Xiaomei, a year younger than Jiang Ning, also helped with household chores.

Jiang Ning's parents died early, leaving her alone. However, since Jiang Ning was a girl, as the rural saying goes, she could not carry on the family line, so no one wanted her. The young Jiang Ning was kicked around like a ball, and was eventually taken in by her grandparents and uncle, and her name was changed from Wang Ning to Jiang Ning.

His uncle, aunt, two brothers, sister-in-law and sister were all very kind to Jiang Ning, and his grandparents treated Jiang Ning as the apple of their own eyes.

The only thing was that her cheap aunt and cheap cousin didn't like her. They felt that her arrival took away the little love her grandparents already had. More importantly, it was one more mouth to feed, making it a little more difficult for them to make money.

Jiang Ning also couldn't understand why Jiang Ning in the book, who was actually very happy to live with his grandparents, developed a stubborn personality and allowed himself to be manipulated.

Even when bullied by her cheap aunt like this, she never fought back, but was submissive. For a long time, seeing that Jiang Ning was so easy to bully, her cheap aunt became even more aggressive. Not only did she often ask Jiang Ning to secretly leave the egg white flour that her grandmother saved for her, she also ordered her to do this and that at every turn, so Jiang Ning looked malnourished.

Moreover, in this era, work points were still the main source of income. The adult labor force in the family was my grandfather, my uncle, and my two older brothers. These men could each earn ten work points a day, while the women were slightly less likely, only earning about eight work points a day. Children had no way of earning work points, but they could raise some chickens and ducks and sell them to the production team at the end of the year in exchange for some food.

But the family had to support eleven people, and this amount of work points was barely enough, so the family was very poor.

However, no matter how poor they were, Jiang Ning was never wronged. When his eldest brother was getting married and preparing to build a house, he built a small room for Jiang Ning. Although there was only an old bed, a half-worn wardrobe, an uneven and shabby eight-immortals table and four shabby benches in it, Jiang Ning was very satisfied.

How can I make my first pot of gold in this strange world? This is the most urgent task.

When Jiang Ning was thinking about the problem, the door was suddenly pushed open. The person who came in was an old man with a thin figure but bright eyes. This was Jiang Ning's grandfather, Old Man Jiang.

Old Man Jiang is in charge of everything at home and outside, and everything is managed in an orderly manner.

"What happened to you today, little girl Ning? Are you hurt? We all heard from your Aunt Wang in the fields that if you are wronged, you should tell grandpa. As long as grandpa is in this family, no one can bully you!" Old Man Jiang looked at his granddaughter with a loving face.

She lowered her head with a guilty look on her face. Although she was venting some anger for the original body, Jiang Qiufang was still her grandfather's granddaughter after all, so it was still a bit unkind of her to do so.

But as soon as the old man came in, he asked himself if he was injured, instead of indiscriminately saying that he was wrong. It seems that this kind old man really loves Jiang Ning.

This made her, who had grown up with her grandparents, even more moved. She didn't know how the two old people were doing now that she had come here.

Old Man Jiang looked at his granddaughter who lowered her head and knew that she had been wronged again. This child had always reported good news but not bad news since she was a child, just like his poor little daughter.

"Ning girl, your aunt is just that kind of person who bullies the weak and fears the strong. Don't go to their house in the future. I shouldn't have said this to you, but you are really too honest. It's okay to be a little cautious when facing your aunt. Don't worry, you won't cause any trouble for the family. Even if there is trouble, don't be afraid, your uncle and I will cover you. We don't want this relative!"

Hearing this, Jiang Ning was deeply moved. He couldn't understand how his previous life could be bullied so badly by his cheap aunt. His grandfather loved her so much, so he couldn't understand what she was afraid of.

Before "Grandpa" started to say anything, Jiang Ning felt as if his throat was astringent as if he had swallowed cotton.

The grandmother who was eavesdropping at the door couldn't stand it anymore. As soon as she came in, she hugged Jiang Ning and started, "My poor Ning girl, it's all because of grandma's failure to protect you and let you suffer."

"Okay, old woman, stop crying. Listen to what happened, Ning girl." Old Man Jiang interrupted his wife's crying and signaled Jiang Ning to finish what she had not finished saying.

She told them everything that had happened, but omitted the fact that Aunt Hua and Jiang Qiufang had deliberately plotted against her. After all, she had already taken revenge, so there was no need to tell them again and make them worry.

She was worried about the old lady being so old. Aunt Hua was very nice to her grandparents on the surface. She was afraid that they would know that Aunt Hua had been bullying the original owner in secret, and that they would not be able to bear the blow for a while.

Aunt Hua lost her husband early in life and raised three children alone. The help of her grandfather and uncle reduced a lot of her burden. The two old people have always taken care of them as their own sons and daughters-in-law and grandchildren.
