Chapter 73 He Has a Home Again

Even if she doesn’t eat with the Lu family, Jiang Wanwan can still make something delicious for Lu Xiao. Delicious food can always make people feel better.

They steamed white rice, made braised pork, and scrambled eggs with tomatoes, which they both liked. Jiang Wanwan also poured out half a bowl of canned food. Sweet food can make people happy.

The meal was ready but Lu Xiao had not returned yet. Jiang Wanwan put the braised pork upside down in a bowl. The other dishes were fine, but the meat was cold and inedible.

After standing under the eaves for a while and getting tired, I simply moved a small stool and sat at the door to wait for him.

Her stomach was growling with hunger, so Jiang Wanwan took a box of potato chips from the two-bedroom apartment and ate while waiting.

After an unknown amount of time, a figure approached in the darkness from a distance. Jiang Wanwan recognized the man by the mere sight of him. She quickly put away the remaining potato chips and waved at him, "Lu Xiao——"

The man paused.

In the night, the slender figure stood in front of the dilapidated adobe house and waved to him. Even though he couldn't see the other person's face clearly, he knew in his heart that it must be a beautiful smiling face.

At this moment, the haze in Lu Xiao's heart gradually dissipated, and he walked forward with big strides. In the last few steps, he almost ran.

He stopped in front of Jiang Wanwan, took in the face that he had imagined in his mind, and the corners of his lips unconsciously curled up slightly.

This is his home and his wife.

He remembered that he was only a teenager that year, and he watched those people break into his home unscrupulously, take away all their belongings, and drive his entire family out of the house.

At that time, he thought that as long as the family was together, it would be fine.

Later, my grandfather died, and then my grandmother followed him. Until one day, my father also passed away, and his world collapsed.

That was his father whom he regarded as a god. He had already restrained all his edge and broken his strong bones. Why didn't he let them go?

Even though he lost his father, he still had his mother. He wanted to take care of his mother and not let her live a hard life.

But such a small wish was difficult to fulfill. The eldest sister-in-law was domineering and kept thinking about his room. Mother couldn't eat or sleep because of this.

He couldn't put his mother in a difficult position. If he could live a stable life by leaving his mother, he was willing to exchange this room for another.

From that day on, he knew that he had no home.

What kind of home is a place without relatives?

At this moment, Lu Xiao felt that he had a home again, with someone who was always thinking about him and was the person he cared about.

He reached out to hold her little hand, "Why are you here? Are you cold?"

It was fine at noon in the past few days, but the temperature dropped in the evening, and it was indeed cold to the touch when I held it.

Jiang Wanwan rudely stuffed both of her small hands into the man's big hands. "I'm bored when you're not home. Come on, I made something delicious for you. Do you smell it?"

Jiang Wanwan pulled him home and said, "I made you braised pork, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and white rice today. They're all your favorites."

"When I was making the braised pork just now, the fire was too high and the sugar color was a little burnt. I was a little anxious to put the meat in, and the oil exploded with a bang. Fortunately, I dodged quickly and nothing happened. Am I awesome?"

"Oh, by the way, I also poured out some canned food. Your favorite is canned apples. Actually, I also like canned hawthorns. Let me tell you, canned hawthorns are really not as sour as you think. Really, if you don't believe me, try it next time. Hawthorns are not only delicious when canned, but they are even more delicious when made into candied haws. Otherwise, I'll make some for you to try next time..."

It was only a few dozen steps from the front door to the kitchen, but Jiang Wanwan's mouth never stopped talking.

Lu Xiao let her lead him inside, listening to her chattering, his eyes full of tenderness.

While eating, Jiang Wanwan picked up food for him one piece at a time with chopsticks, encouraging him to eat more.

"Wanwan," Lu Xiao suddenly spoke.

Jiang Wanwan paused in picking up the food and blinked at him.

"You, don't be like this, I'm fine." He knew why she was like this. She was worried about him and was comforting him in her own way.

I have to say, it is very effective.

"We went to the grave today and told grandpa, grandma and dad. I believe they would be happy to hear it. Later, my eldest brother and second brother had to go back, so I stayed at dad's grave for a while longer, so I came back late. I should have told you in advance," so that she wouldn't worry.

Jiang Wanwan put the half-finished dish into his bowl and nodded in agreement, "I believe that Dad would be happy too if he were still alive."

After saying that, she held up her little face, blinked her big eyes and asked him, "Did you say anything after staying with Dad for a while? For example, did you find a wife who is both beautiful and virtuous?"

Lu Xiao was stunned for a moment, then he looked at her and laughed, "I told Dad that I have a family now. I married a young intellectual who is well-educated and beautiful. She cooks delicious food. I will never go hungry again. Dad told me to treat you well and not let you down."

Jiang Wanwan was very satisfied. "After autumn, can you take me to visit Dad's grave? You said such good things about me, I have to let Dad see it, right?"

Lu Xiao looked at her deeply: "Okay."

Jiang Wanwan thought that if she talked it out, the man would feel better, but she completely underestimated the impact of this incident on him.

In her era, she might never be able to understand his feelings at this moment. She could only accompany him, comfort him, and hug him like she is now.

Before I knew it, the night had darkened and become quiet.

The next day, Jiang Wanwan was awakened by the heat. The man was already awake and was hugging her tightly, with his face pressed against her neck.

The wet touch was itchy, and her voice became softer. In this bright morning, it seemed particularly intimate. "Lu Xiao~"
