Chapter 22 Selling Wine

The next day, Chen Xiaomi spent two hundred coins to buy twenty exquisite wine jars.

After buying the wine jar, Lu Lin opened a case of beer, poured the beer into the wine jar that Chen Xiaomi had bought, and then sealed it.

A case of beer filled about eleven beer jars.

"Alright, that's about it. Now we can take it to the restaurant and try selling it tomorrow," Chen Xiaomi said, her eyes shining.

Chen Xiaomi thought to herself: If this wine can be sold smoothly, I should buy a mule cart. Having a mule cart would be more convenient. I can make a wooden roof for the mule cart so that I won't have to worry too much about wind and rain.

Lu Lin frowned and said, "It's not certain that it will sell."

Lu Lin felt that this wine would be considered a good wine in ancient times, but since it wasn't well-known, others might not be willing to acknowledge its value!

Chen Xiaomi said nonchalantly, "If we can't sell them, we can just drink them ourselves." He actually quite liked the taste of the wine.

"We can send a jar to that young master." Lu Lin's shop had over a hundred cases of beer, so he didn't really care about one or two jars.

When Lu Lin went to town last time, he inquired and found out that the young master seemed to be quite prestigious in the town. If the young master liked the drink and helped promote it, then there would be no need to worry about sales in the future.

Chen Xiaomi nodded and said, "That's fine."

Chen Xiaomi and Lu Lin went to the town together. Although Chen Xiaomi carried a large basket on her back, she had stored the wine in Lu Lin's small shop along the way and only took it out when they were close to the town.

Chen Xiaomi was very confident about selling alcohol, but she was soon given a cold shower.

Lu Lin and Chen Xiaomi went to Fuyuan Restaurant first. Lu Lin told the waiter that he wanted to see the manager, but the waiter kicked him out.

The shop assistant arrogantly indicated that the manager wasn't someone you could just see whenever you wanted, so the two had no choice but to leave.

Not only did she fail to sell any wine, but she was also ridiculed and mocked, leaving Chen Xiaomi feeling quite disgruntled.

"What kind of person is that! They look down on people like that," Chen Xiaomi said sullenly.

Lu Lin glanced at Chen Xiaomi, smiled, and said, "Why bother getting angry with him?"

Lu Lin had long anticipated that things might not go smoothly, but since things really did not go smoothly, he was still somewhat bothered.

Lu Lin smiled and comforted him, "Today you ignore me, but tomorrow you'll be begging for my attention. We'll be rich someday." By then, this clown won't be worth mentioning at all.

Lu Lin led Chen Xiaomi to the second restaurant. The manager of Hongyun Restaurant was quite interested when he heard that they were going to sell wine.

"Do you sell wine? Where is the wine from?"

"It's homemade," Chen Xiaomi said.

"Homemade wine probably won't fetch a good price!"

Chen Xiaomi said dismissively, "The wine my family brews is delicious."

The shopkeeper smiled mysteriously, thinking to himself: "The wine brewed by country folk probably won't turn out to be anything good. But country folk don't know much and always think their own wine is the best."

"Xiaomi." The eldest son of the Yang family came out and saw Chen Xiaomi talking to the restaurant owner. He couldn't help but feel curious.

"Young Master Yang, you're here too! This is my homemade wine, this bottle is for you."

The eldest son of the Yang family smiled and said, "Xiao Mi is very kind."

The Yang family was very wealthy, and the eldest son of the Yang family drank only the finest wines. He wasn't very interested in the wine that Chen Xiaomi was talking about, but he didn't refuse Chen Xiaomi's request and accepted it directly.

When the manager of Hongyun Restaurant saw that Chen Xiaomi and Yang Hengzhi knew each other, he immediately treated Chen Xiaomi with more special regard.

"When selling wine, we should first check its quality," the shopkeeper said after a moment's thought.

Chen Xiaomi opened a jar of wine and poured out two bowls of it.

Whether something is good or not, you have to take it out and show it to yourself to know.

Young Master Yang, who wasn't particularly interested in the wine Chen Xiaomi had given him, was somewhat surprised when he saw the wine being poured out.

"This wine is quite good! Judging from its appearance, it's almost as good as top-grade wine," Young Master Yang said, fanning himself with a hint of surprise.

The restaurant owner took a sip of wine and said somewhat anxiously, "Are all these jars of wine of this quality?"

Chen Xiaomi nodded and said, "Yes, they came from the same vat."

Young Master Yang casually ordered a bowl, took a sip, and was immediately surprised, "I didn't expect you to have this skill, Xiaomi, otherwise this wine..."

The restaurant manager realized that Young Master Yang was trying to steal the prize, and immediately felt helpless. "Young Master Yang, this is not in accordance with the rules."

Young Master Yang smiled and said, "I was being presumptuous, Manager Wang. Don't take advantage of my young brother's lack of expertise!"

"How could that be!" Manager Wang forced a smile.

Shopkeeper Wang glanced at Young Master Yang, feeling somewhat depressed. If Young Master Yang weren't here, he could try to negotiate the price down, but since Young Master Yang was here, if he tried to negotiate, the wine would probably be gone.

Finally, including the opened jar of wine, Chen Xiaomi sold all ten jars of wine to Manager Wang for eight hundred coins per jar, earning a total of eight taels of silver.

Manager Wang very warmly offered to send more wine if there was any left.

Chen Xiaomi was overjoyed to suddenly receive eight taels of silver. Knowing that Lu Lin still had a lot of wine that she could sell, Chen Xiaomi was even happier.

Whether they were lucky or unlucky, Chen Xiaomi had already decided to buy a mule, but unfortunately, there were no mules for sale on the street. Helpless, the two had to buy some other things first.

Lu Lin went to the grain store and bought a batch of rice and flour. Although the store also had rice and flour, there would be a day when it would all run out. Moreover, Lu Lin felt that if he had money, it would be better to buy some pure natural refined rice, since the rice and flour in his previous life had been sprayed with too many pesticides.

Besides rice and flour, Lu Lin caught six more chicks. They ate the eggs very quickly, which made Lu Lin feel a sense of crisis. Although he already had a few chicks at home, buying more would not be a problem.

In addition to the six chicks, Lu Lin also bought six goslings. Geese are good things; they can guard the house and lay eggs.

After Lu Lin decided to take the gosling back, he would leave it to Chen Xiaocai to raise. Chen Xiaocai was a thrifty and hardworking child. If he was given the gosling to raise, he would definitely take good care of it and make sure it didn't die. With so many things to do, the attention would naturally shift away from him.

Chen Xiaomi was undecided about whether to buy a mule, but she still went to the livestock market to take a look. There were not many animals on the market, and those that were there were either sick or old. Seeing that there were no suitable ones, the two had to give up.
