Chapter 11 War Preparations
After saying goodbye to Farodan, Levi returned to the castle without wasting a moment and began to prepare supplies.
With permission, Farodan curiously walked into the wall and followed Levi to look around.
Levi went straight to the castle's smelting room, collected the iron ingots fired in a row of furnaces, and synthesized them.
Open the box marked [Mineral].
There were five groups of iron blocks lying quietly in it, as well as some other miscellaneous minerals, including one group of sulfur and 43 groups of saltpeter.
Level:35.
This is the result of continuous mining in the past month.
"How are you going to deal with this?"
Looking at Levi who was counting the supplies, Farodan couldn't help but ask.
While walking in, the experienced vagrant also took a look at the internal structure of the city wall. After some observation, he couldn't help but frown.
The defensive work of this city wall is not to be said to be better than nothing, but it can also be said to be non-existent.
It is just a pure wall made of stones. There are only a few ladders to climb up. Once you climb up, it is still bare ground. There is no cover at all. Standing there you are basically a sitting duck with nowhere to hide.
He really couldn't imagine how Levi could defend this place with such a bare wall and a fence gate that looked fragile.
By witchcraft?
"Just keep guarding like this." Levi gave an ambiguous answer.
As he spoke, he took out more than a dozen sets of boulders and went back and forth several times. In just a few dozen minutes, he raised the city wall by a full five meters.
Farodan was stunned by the whole process.
What kind of witchcraft is this? Why is it that such a large piece of stone is stuck there, not moving at all? And where did so many stones come from? It seems that he just pointed at the air and the stones appeared.
Looking at the city wall that seemed to be a whole with no traces of splicing, the vagrant was stunned.
This kind of construction ability is comparable to that of the God of Creation descending to earth.
If any country could obtain his services, it would be a qualitative breakthrough, which would be more useful than 10,000 soldiers defending the city...
"Now I understand why you are confident that you can hold this place."
The homeless man recovered quickly and said, "But your fortifications are indeed a bit crude. Listen to me, this way..."
Levi listened, his eyes gradually brightening.
As an architecture MC player, he always considers aesthetics over practicality when building houses, and he does it in any way that looks good.
Now, after listening to Farodan's advice, everything suddenly became clear.
In half an hour, the general defense work, structure and function of the castle were explained clearly. Levi's eyes lit up and he started to make modifications on the spot.
Farodan was giving real-time guidance, telling Levi what to do, where to build cover, where to leave arrow holes, and where to place obstacles to prevent people from climbing the wall.
I was busy like this all afternoon.
At dusk, another simple watchtower was completed. Levi took a big bite of beef jerky and handed a few pieces to Farodan.
"Try my craftsmanship, System brand secret beef jerky."
Although he didn't know what the system Levi was talking about was, it didn't stop Farodan from taking a peek.
With one bite, the aroma hidden in the jerky breaks through the shell and bursts out in the mouth.
"It's delicious. Even the dishes made by the best royal chefs are not as good as this."
+1 from a loyal fan of System Gourmet.
Seeing that the castle had truly become a real castle with both aesthetics and defensive capabilities, Farodan no longer had any room for help.
Everything is ready, now we just have to wait.
As dusk was about to pass, Levi turned around and asked, "Why aren't you leaving? If your intelligence is true, the Wolf Cavalry Squadron will attack tonight."
Farodan took another bite of the dried meat and swallowed it before saying, "No, I want to see how you deal with them."
"Also, one more person can always help, right?"
Although he said so, the vagrant had other ideas in mind.
A head-on confrontation is definitely impossible, as they are a cavalry squad of hundreds of people.
He had already made a plan. If Levi failed to defend the castle in the end, he would just take Levi and run away, so that Levi would not be reluctant to leave the castle and die here, or be captured by the orcs, which would be a pity.
"Aren't you afraid?"
"Fighting and killing are things I experience every day."
Farodan looked nonchalant.
Levi took a breath.
It was broken, so I installed it for him.
"Well, if you insist on staying, take these as a gift to you."
Levi took out a set of iron armor and an iron sword and placed them on the ground. Farodan's eyes widened immediately.
What a fine armor, what a sharp sword, could this man be a master forger? "Put it on and see if it fits you."
As soon as he put on the armor given by Levi, Farodan immediately felt the difference. This set of solid-looking, silver-white armor did not affect his movement at all when he put it on, nor did it feel heavy. One could not help but marvel at the ingenious craftsmanship.
"You always surprise people, Levi."
He liked this armor very much.
"Looks like I'll have to put in a little more effort tonight."
Dusk passed in an instant.
Night is coming.
The sky is not very clear.
In the woods that could be seen at a glance, pairs of scarlet eyes were fixed on the castle that suddenly appeared out of nowhere in the distance, and the city wall that was built almost overnight.
Even though orcs are generally not very smart, they still know that there are some powerful beings in this world, such as wizards, elven lords, and the masters behind them.
What if there is a similar powerful being inside the city wall? Wouldn't that be troublesome for me?
However, more than ten days have passed since we noticed this strange human being. We have seen the castle becoming more and more complete, the farmlands increasing, the city walls getting higher and longer, and it seems that there is nothing special about that person except for his incredibly fast construction speed.
"We can use this castle!" A short scout Orc came back and reported to the relatively strong leader: "Also, the wolf smelled the smell of meat, there must be a lot of fresh meat inside..."
Meat... fresh meat...
After hearing this news, many orcs lost control.
"I've had enough of moldy rotten bread and maggots, I want fresh meat!!"
"Meat, human flesh!"
"Shut up!" the strongest orc roared and smashed the big rock next to him hard.
Looking at the cracks on the stone, the restlessness around them immediately subsided a lot.
"Everything is ready. Let's go now. Immediately! I'm going to eat roasted human flesh there tonight!!"
The leader gave instructions.
roar--
The wargs could not stop growling, and the orcs began to cheer.
