Chapter 314: Searching for the Cold Dragon
"What the hell?"
In the roadside fort, Levi waved his hands, as if he was driving away something.
Just now, he felt as if a gaze was falling on him from a long distance.
As a "mystic" who is proficient in the occult, "inspiration" is something that cannot be lacking.
After so many years of immersion, Levi's inspiration has already reached a very high level.
Perhaps because a considerable part of the distortion phenomena produced by studying the taboos of occultism are related to the eyes, Levi is particularly sensitive to things like sight.
There was indeed a gaze sweeping over me just now, it shouldn't be an illusion.
But there seemed to be no malice.
But it still needs to be dispersed. After all, even if there is no ill intention, who would like to be stared at by something all the time?
When the discomfort of being monitored disappeared, Levi continued to do his own thing.
"About the exploration of the northern mountains."
Looking at the report handed over by the people from Karl Town, Levi fell into thought.
The so-called Northern Mountains are the Grey Mountains, where there is a fallen and abandoned dwarf hall, which is the hall of Dain I.
You won’t know until you see it, and you’ll be shocked when you see it.
According to intelligence gathered by scouts at the front line, this dilapidated and decaying hall is full of traces of Orc activities.
And not only Orcs, for the scouts found large scratch marks on the ground and on the pillars supporting the hall, marks that did not appear to be made by Orcs, Wargs, or Trolls.
Then there is only one answer.
Evil dragon.
Still dragons stalk the halls of Dain the First.
According to records, those evil dragons all came from the Northern Wastes - the vast snowy plain shrouded by the remaining power of Morgoth.
They were attracted by the treasure of the Dwarves, so they flew out of the Northern Wastes to the Grey Mountains and raided the Dwarf Halls.
The hall of Dain I fell, and the dwarves were forced to move to the Lonely Mountain. But afterwards they also developed some targeted anti-dragon weapons, and they could still resist three or two ordinary cold dragons that could not breathe fire.
But unfortunately, it was a fire dragon that later attacked Lonely Mountain.
Let’s not talk about the past. No matter what, the possible existence of a dragon is not good for the town of Karl and the recently rebuilt Flamsburg.
Especially the latter, which is close to the Gray Mountains.
So Levi set out again, walking all the way to the town of Karl, and then arrived at Flamsburg.
During the time when he was reviewing the report and making the decision on action, the people of Flamsburg were not idle either. Several scout teams led by outstanding rangers continued to go deep into the hinterland of the mountains, and even entered the abandoned halls for in-depth exploration, trying to find out the exact location of the evil dragon.
The engineering team went to Lonely Mountain to seek help from the dwarves, and obtained a row of semi-automatic armor-piercing heavy crossbows from them. They placed them on the north wall of Flamsburg, facing the mountains.
When Levi arrived at Flamsburg, looking at the neat rows of armor-piercing heavy crossbows, he even had a feeling that he could kill the cold dragon even without him.
Just as Levi was thinking this, the ranger teams returned one after another and brought him information deep in the hall.
"There are many skeletons of giant dragons. Judging from the marks on the bones, they seem to be from the same kind. It seems that they once fought among themselves over something."
"How do you make this guess?" Levi asked the ranger who made the report.
The ranger immediately stepped forward and said, "I once borrowed some books from the dwarf's literature room, and one of them recorded this incident."
He recalled, and said in the tone of a plain historical narrator:
"The dragons occupied the Grey Mountains, but because most of the dwarves who could mine the treasures had left, the limited treasures became less and less for the dragons that continued to multiply, so they began to kill each other, which not only caused serious damage to the surrounding areas, but also reduced the number of dragons."
"Finally, no longer content with the riches of the Grey Mountains, the dragon Smaug decided to move south in 2770 of the Third Age, leading to the fall of Erebor."
"I understand." Levi nodded.
"So, the evil dragon tribe in the Grey Mountains once had a civil war due to fighting for wealth."
“I just don’t know how much is left.”
"Have you found out their exact location?"
The rangers looked at each other and shook their heads.
However, although they did not find the possible dragon, they did draw a general topographical map of the hall.
Of course, some rangers had asked the dwarves before, but unfortunately the dwarves no longer had any detailed records of this former colony, and the internal topographic map had also been lost.
One of them stepped forward and handed Levi a map of the hall with some markings on it.
He explained: "The area marked is where the Orcs will move around. We didn't attack rashly because we thought the dragon might smell the blood and become alert."
Levi looked at the map and nodded.
"Well, that's fine."
Levi said, "No matter where the dragon is, I'll plow the entire hall. It won't matter how deep it hides."
"Enter alert mode and wait for my news."
After leaving a few words, Levi jumped off the city wall and walked alone into the depths of the gray mountains with the map.
That day, he followed the indistinguishable, dilapidated dirt road built by the ancestors of the Rohan people and arrived at the foot of a mountain, where he saw the entrance to the dilapidated hall.
New areas are unlocked and the fog is dissipating.
The hall of Dain I.
Levi raised his head and observed the situation inside with the help of the sunlight coming in from the gate.
Just as the rangers said, there were almost no intact buildings here. Even the pillars were missing pieces or broken in half, obviously having been hit hard by something.
There is not a single intact part of the floor. It can be seen that there has been a large-scale collapse here, as if it was hit by a meteorite. Sand and broken stones are everywhere.
Looking down, it was full of potholes and there was no place to stand.
But the rangers were smart enough. They marked out some traversable routes, although they were a bit circuitous.
Click.
Levi took out a pebble and used it as a step as he moved forward.
Apparently, he didn't like taking detours very much.
Boom boom boom…
Inside the hall, a door that was still relatively intact and seemed to have signs of recent use was knocked.
The sound was particularly obvious.
A voice came from inside the door:
"Which damned——"
Crunch.
Oak opened the door with a curse, and was greeted by a huge sword that was completely black and red.
Boom!
A loud noise came from the door, startling the Oaks gathered in the room so much that they couldn't help but look over.
I saw that the orc who had just opened the door had his armor and body cut in half, and he was motionless in an instant.
"Tell me, where is the dragon?"
