Chapter 344: Sauron's Good Will?
Facing the Ranger's question, Gollum hesitated and tentatively answered: "Then we want... meat?"
His voice was full of confusion and doubt.
Obviously, the ranger's behavior was somewhat beyond his expectations, and he was a little confused for a moment.
But soon, none of that mattered.
A moment later, the ranger brought a steak with beautiful neat patterns and a fat salmon.
They are all raw.
Gollum cringed subconsciously.
"Is it poisoned?"
But on second thought, it seems like they have no reason to do that.
Besides, the legend made a promise...
Hunger eventually overcame doubt.
After rolling his eyes and convincing himself, Gollum could no longer hold back and immediately began to bite and swallow the food in big mouthfuls, looking like a starving ghost and almost choking himself.
"So delicious... ahem, gulp..."
I have never eaten such clean and fresh meat! Beside Gollum, the ranger stared at him, frightened by his appearance.
He didn't dare to leave - mainly because he was afraid that Guru would eat too excitedly and choke to death.
But this little thing is really strange.
He seems to be intelligent. Lord Levi said that he was a hobbit before, but he is different from ordinary hobbits. He likes to eat raw and bloody things.
Between raw food and cooked food, he chose the former.
You have to know that Hobbits are very particular about food and would never just chew on raw meat that still has blood in it.
But this point can be explained.
The ranger looked at Gulu who was eating voraciously and remembered what Levi had said before.
Gollum was eroded by an unnamed dark thing for too long and too deeply, and even his living habits were changed as a result.
"belch."
A voice was heard from inside the prison.
"It looks like you're full."
"Then let's go."
The ranger opened the door and motioned for Gollum to come out.
Gollum opened his eyes wide and asked, "Where are we going?"
Obviously, the rangers could feel the changes in Gollum.
After eating, this guy seemed like a different person, his eyes became clear.
"Go somewhere safer."
Just go.
A moment later, Levi, Gollum and several rangers walked out of the stronghold, headed west, entered Rohan, crossed East Mark, and crossed the bridge.
Very smoothly and quickly, in less than ten days, the few people arrived at the city of Nanhetao.
Gollum got his own room here, and the environment was so good that he wondered if he had done something good unintentionally, or if he was going to die.
“Is this some kind of paradise?”
"No, this is a prison." A guard answered his question.
"Prison? You mean this clean, tidy, bright room with no disgusting smell is a prison?"
Thinking back to the environment of Mordor, Gollum was obviously a little bit unbelievable.
The guard outside had a strange look on his face.
Isn't this just a standard single room?
This is also called good?
This guy has really never been to any really good places.
“It’s time to eat.”
The professionally trained guard did not say much to Gollum. On the one hand, it was to prevent himself from accidentally revealing any information, and on the other hand, he was not interested in saying too much.
He just silently brought the clean food and watched Gollum wolf it down.
"Oh, good food, good drink and good accommodation, these days are so happy."
At this moment, Gollum's mentality changed a little.
This change resulted in Gandalf, who arrived a little later than Levi, rarely being able to shirk his responsibilities when asked questions by him, and he answered everything he needed to say.
"You really have a magical power here."
After interrogating Gollum, Gandalf was amazed at the changes in this guy.
If I stay here for a long time, maybe Guru can really...
"How's it going? Did you get the information you wanted?"
“It’s basically clear now.”
Gandalf nodded.
Levi asked, "What are you going to do next?"
"Frodo, I plan to go to him first to confirm the safety of the ring."
Gandalf stood up immediately after saying this.
"And Aragorn, as it happens, he is visiting an old friend in the Woodland Kingdom recently. I have a plan that requires his participation. He can help a little."
"What about me?" Levi asked from behind.
How come you can't see me when I'm so big? "You?"
Gandalf raised his eyebrows, looking somewhat helpless.
"Levi, there are some things that you are no longer allowed to participate in."
"No, what do you mean?" Upon hearing this, Levi was a little unhappy.
What do you mean I can't participate? Gandalf opened his big innocent eyes and said:
"Well... forgive me, there is no derogatory meaning in what I said. What I meant is that your power is too strong and your presence is too dazzling. It is no longer suitable for you to do something covert."
"I don't want to see our enemies shouting 'Levi and his men are in the Shire' when we get to the Shire, or 'Levi and his men are in Bree' when we get to Bree."
"You know what I mean, don't you?"
"Okay. I understand."
Levi shrugged, looking somewhat helpless.
Broken, banned.
I am glad to receive the same treatment as Glorfindel.
The powerful elf who could kill the fire demon with a small dagger was not involved in many things that required covert operations because of his excessive presence.
"Let's do this."
Levi said: "When you have dealt with Frodo's affairs, you can come to the roadside fort to find me. I will wait for you there and we can talk in detail then."
"That's best."
Gandalf nodded solemnly and said, "With your help, I think it will be hard for this matter to go wrong. Well... I hope so."
After chatting for a while, Gandalf rode away on his horse under Levi's gaze.
He's going to start getting busy.
When Gandalf left and Levi was about to think about what he was going to do, unexpectedly, the Nanhetao fortress where Gollum was imprisoned welcomed a very special guest.
A messenger.
"Respected Legend, Supreme Leader of the Free Cities, Leader of the Northern Humans, Lord of the North Levi, I greet you on behalf of my master, Lord Sauron."
—The Messenger from Mordor.
"What's up?"
At the city gate, Levi asked the messenger from Mordor who was riding a black horse and wearing a black sleeved robe with a cold expression.
On the city wall behind him was a team of armed guards, who kept a close eye on the man, guarding against any small moves he might make.
Of course, there is no need to worry about Levi's safety.
The main task of the guards was to prevent the messenger from suddenly doing something bad and causing any harm to the residents of the city.
"Respected sir, I come with the goodwill of my master."
The envoy bowed his head respectfully and humbly, and said, "Lord Soran wants to discuss some friendly cooperation with you."
