Chapter 354: Sudden Invasion
"This doesn't seem like a good sign."
There are ogres and wolves that are chilling to the bone, and orcs who come from nowhere and don’t know what camp they belong to.
"What are you going to do?" Gandalf asked Levi.
"What else can I do? Of course I'll go and have a look."
"Then I'll go with you."
Gandalf made his decision immediately.
"Why don't you deal with the matter of the One Ring first?"
"This matter is not urgent, or rather, it cannot be rushed."
"Do you have other plans?"
“There are some arrangements.”
Gandalf replied: "This matter is of great importance. I intend to ask Aragorn to inform the other allies so that we can discuss it together."
"What do you think about this?"
"Reasonable."
Levi approved.
"I have no idea about this ring. The worst outcome is to confront Mordor head-on and launch another decisive battle, but that is too radical. Well, you know, I am a relatively conservative person."
keep?
Gandalf looked a little strange.
That's what you guys think.
"If there's a better way, I don't mind supporting it."
"That would be best." Gandalf felt relieved after hearing what Levi said.
With Levi's support, Gandalf left for the time being to talk to Aragorn.
So Aragorn had something to do again.
"Where are you going?"
Seeing that Aragorn was about to leave, Frodo, who was most familiar with Aragorn during this period, asked.
Aragorn's answer was also rather brief.
"To the valley."
"The Valley?"
Frodo perceptibly brightened at the word.
"That's where Bilbo went?"
"Bilbo? Oh, there is indeed a hobbit called Bilbo."
"Very good!"
Frodo began to pack his bags on the spot.
"I'll go with you. I haven't seen Bilbo for a long time. I don't know how he is doing now."
"He's fine. I saw him the last time I went to Rivendell, but he was concentrating on writing a book at that time, so I didn't disturb him."
As he was speaking, three other hobbits came over.
“Write a book!”
Merry, Pippin, and Sam looked at each other.
"It's been so long, Bilbo's book must be finished."
"That's right. Last time we went to peek, we only read half of it. The rest hasn't been written yet."
"Rivendell, that's the home of those elves we saw on the road, right?"
"Please, take us with you!"
Several hobbits made earnest requests to Aragorn.
Aragorn nodded.
"Yes, it is possible..."
"Did you encounter elves on the road?"
At this time, Levi, who had just finished discussing with Gandalf, came over and interjected.
Aragorn responded, "Yes, we met Gildor, the Noldor Elf of the House of Finrod. He led a small group to make a pilgrimage to the Tower Hill this spring and just returned now, so he happened to run into us."
Frodo said excitedly, "This is the first time I have seen elves. They are just as I heard about them, elegant, tall, and mostly friendly."
"What about the other minority?"
"Well, I heard there are still some woodland elves in the Black Forest..."
This made Aragorn laugh.
The reputation of the woodland elves suffered.
"Take them with you. Bilbo will be glad to see them, too."
Following Levi's suggestion, Aragorn set off with the four of them.
However, this happened a few days later. The group rested in the roadside fort for a while before continuing their journey.
The road from Roadside Fort to the Valley is also within the protection range of Roadside Fort. There is basically no danger and you can walk freely without worry.
A few people walked onto the main road, crossed the last bridge, and visited the famous scenic spots in the Troll Forest. Finally, they slowly arrived at the valley.
Elrond came upon hearing the news and received them warmly. Frodo also met Bilbo as he wished.
"Recently? I've been having a great time lately."
Bilbo looked quite happy.
"Bilbo, you have changed a lot."
Frodo sighed as he looked at Bilbo, whose hair had turned gray and who was finally showing signs of old age.
"Yeah, it has changed a lot. Since coming here, the feeling of being pulled around me has disappeared."
Frodo smiled and nodded, and Bilbo took him to visit some of the most scenic places in Rivendell, which made him open his eyes wide.
“Great view.”
"How does it compare to Roadside Castle? I heard you lived there for a while."
Frodo hesitated for a moment, and finally said, "Equally matched."
"But Roadside Fort is much more lively than here."
"That's irrefutable."
Bilbo said, "Actually, I was struggling over whether to live in Wayside Castle or Rivendell. The people and elves in both places are equally friendly and kind, but in the end I chose this place."
"Well, mainly because, relatively speaking, I prefer quiet and high scenery. Also, I can often come into contact with elves here. They can teach me something, which is very helpful for my new book."
"Although there are elves in Roadside Castle, they are quite busy. Each elf has many students to teach. I need to make an appointment before I can see them."
"By the way, where's Levi? Didn't he come with you?"
"It's been a long time since I last saw him."
"Levi is with Gandalf. They went further north to Wayfort. They seem to be in a hurry."
"That's a pity," Bilbo sighed.
Far away on the walls of the abandoned fortress of Carn-dûm in the snowy mountains of Angmar, Gandalf couldn't help but gasp.
"I'm very familiar with this type of armor. Even though it's so tattered that its shape is almost unrecognizable, the feeling is unmistakable."
He used his stick to poke at the body on the ground, which was already frozen as hard as ice, and said:
"From what I can gather he is of the same species as the orcs we have seen before, but I am afraid he is not of the same genus."
"These are the hosts of Morgoth. They are most likely the first Orcs to have survived the First Age. Where did they live before that? I wonder."
"I'm sure if they were put together with the Orcs of the Misty Mountains or even Mordor, there would be a fight between the two sides."
Levi squatted down and took a look at Oak's body, feeling the coldness and thinking about something.
"That's really interesting."
“It’s really interesting.”
Gandalf squatted down too, and looked at the Orc carefully.
"Where on earth did they come from?"
"The answer to this question may lie further north."
Levi thought about it and made a decision.
"Gandalf, I... um?"
As he was speaking, suddenly, there was a burst of noise coming from the distant mountains.
A powerful army of monsters was charging down from the top of the snowy mountain. They slammed into the ruined walls of Carn-dûm. Trolls smashed the poorly maintained gates, and wolves slipped in like ghosts, searching for the scent of the living. Following them were the Orcs, some of whom ran in screaming, their evil, turbid eyes darting around.
However, they were destined to be disappointed.
There are no 'people' as they know them here, only a wizard and Levi.
The original garrison had already evacuated.
brush--
Levi took out the Dragon Flame Steel Greatsword, jumped off the city wall with a bang, and directly chopped down a large number of demon wolves, then swung the sword and killed another group of orcs.
Several insane snow ogres rushed up and tried to cause him some trouble.
Boom! A fierce white light burst out on the city wall, and several ogres suddenly felt dizzy and stopped. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Levi rushed forward and attacked them, finishing them off quite cleanly.
“That’s a nice flash.”
