Chapter 360: A Journey Spanning Decades

"No."

Boromir's voice of refusal sounded rather ruthless and indifferent, but his head was very enthusiastic, shaking like a rattle.

Putting aside whether it's suitable for the occasion or not, just look at the armor that's emitting heat. If you're not careful when hugging it, you'll get burned.

But after this interruption, for some reason, Boromir suddenly felt a lot more relaxed.

This damn inexplicable feeling of relaxation, where on earth does it come from?

But, it’s not bad.

Boromir leaned back on the stone chair, lost in thought.

Gondor is not alone.

Levi, the supreme leader of all city-states, who although he had never met him many times, was actually on good terms with his family. He would really help if anything happened.

Boromir realized this.

This is no joke.

I have to say, it does make people feel at ease to know a friendly and reliable elder from their great-grandfather's generation.

But my great-grandfather’s generation…

Boromir glanced quietly at Aragorn and then at Levi.

Is he a human or not? Without giving him more time to think, the meeting quickly moved on to the next stage.

First of all, there is a consensus that the One Ring cannot be threatened by any ordinary means, and it can only be destroyed in the Rift of Doom in Mount Doom.

This was verified by Levi. He tried all possible ways to destroy objects, but none of them worked.

Then there was Gimli.

When this slightly impatient dwarf boy heard everyone say that this ring, which appeared to be made of pure gold, could not be destroyed, his first reaction was disbelief.

He immediately swung his huge, solid, and heavy steel axe and chopped it up, but the result was that his steel axe was shattered into pieces by the power transmitted from the Supreme Ring, and he himself flew out.

Fortunately, Aragorn and Legolas behind him stood up in time to catch him, otherwise he would have rolled a long way down the stairs.

"Get away from me, both of you!"

Gimli kicked his feet in angrily. At this moment, he was trapped in the air between the two men, looking quite embarrassed.

Everyone looked at each other.

Levi looked at the ring and had his own opinion.

The hardness of this ring can be compared to bedrock to some extent. The hardness of bedrock is negative, and it is indestructible according to the rules unless another rule of the same or higher level appears.

It takes a mechanism to destroy this thing.

After verifying that ordinary means could not destroy the Supreme Ring, everyone began to discuss again.

Someone suggested sending the ring to Valinor and having it guarded by the Valar and the elves of Valinor, but not to mention the possible obstacles on the sea, given the nature of the ring itself, no one could guarantee whether it would not cause any trouble there.

Of course, Vera would not care about such a little thing, but after all, there are a large number of ordinary creatures there besides Vera, so this method is not very reliable.

After this plan was rejected, someone mentioned Levi again.

Someone suggested sending the ring to the roadside fort and keeping it under strict guard, but this plan was not very wise and was quickly rejected by everyone, including Levi.

Yes, Levi did have the means to seal the ring completely, like the Orthanc crystal, so that no one except him could touch it, not even Sauron himself.

But doing so is essentially no different than sending it to Valinor; both methods essentially involve sealing the ring somewhere.

Gandalf expressed his own opinion on this: "The sea may also turn into mulberry fields. No one can predict what will happen in the future. The responsibility of all of us here is not just to consider the moment, or a few generations of mankind, or an era of the world. We should seek a way to completely resolve this threat, even if it is difficult to do so."

Elrond said solemnly: "It must be brought into the heart of Mordor and thrown into the fire to destroy it."

After the two finished speaking, the scene fell silent for a short while.

People were waiting for the last person to speak.

Levi said calmly: "I agree, it should be destroyed."

"One of you must hold the ring and take it to Mordor."

So the general direction of the meeting was determined.

Everything that follows revolves around how to destroy the One Ring and who will be the 'Ring Bearer'.

"You can't just enter Mordor if you want to."

Boromir covered his head and said, "Fouler monsters than Orcs guard the Black Gate. Evil never slept in that land, and the Eye was always on guard..."

"The other entrance is a barren wasteland called Minas Morgul. It is full of deep pits filled with smoke, fire, and poisonous fog that fills every inch of the air. Breathing even a little bit of it will make people feel miserable."

“Even if we go in with tens of thousands, or even twenty or thirty thousand soldiers, it will be futile and foolish.”

Even if these soldiers are not from Gondor, but from the North.

Boromir did not say this.

"Didn't you hear what Lord Elrond and Levi said? The ring must be destroyed!"

Legolas, who had a slightly bad temper, immediately stood up and retorted to him.

Boromir chuckled and shook his head.

He thought of the countless sleepless nights, of himself at the border holding the sword, gazing at the dark land of Mordor, and of the magic eye surrounded by flames that suddenly projected over a long distance.

I think of the hardship I had fighting it with, almost making me grit my teeth.

The elf understood nothing, he had never seen any of this.

Boromir suddenly stood up in anger and said: "What if we fail? What if the ring is found by the enemy again?"

"I do not think an Elf could be responsible for this," said Gimli.

The fire directly ignited the scene.

Levi looked at the Supreme Ring in the center of the stone platform and realized that this thing was exerting its power again.

It will not miss any opportunity to create chaos around it.

Seeing the situation getting out of control, Gandalf quickly stood up to stop it.

"While you are arguing, Sauron's power continues to grow. We shouldn't get caught up in meaningless conflicts here!"

There were only a few people still sitting in the meeting at this moment.

Elrond tangled his hands together and once again looked down and sighed.

Glorfindel leaned back in his chair, put his hands on his knees, and sat there quietly watching the quarreling people without saying a word.

Levi looked around, thoughtful.

Frodo was a little confused.

The One Ring has been confirmed to be destroyed, but no matter what, someone has to hold the ring, and the choice of this person must be carefully considered.

First of all, we rule out Levi and Glorfindel. It’s not that we don’t trust them, but mainly if anything happens to either of them, the consequences will be devastating, even more dangerous than Sauron himself.

And wizards can't do that either, and Gandalf has already explained why.

"I'll do it."

Unexpectedly, Bilbo stood up first. He pulled Gandalf, who was still arguing with others, and said, "Since I discovered this trouble, let me solve it. I can take it to Mordor."

Gandalf shook his head and said, "No, Bilbo, you have done enough, and you have held the Ring too long to take it back."

"If you don't want to become like Gollum."

"Oh——" Bilbo covered his chest and shook his head.

No, it would be too scary to turn into Gollum.

The quarrel continues.

In the midst of the noise that made it impossible to hear the specific content, Frodo subconsciously looked at Levi.

Levi also looked at him and smiled back.

A thought came to his mind, and Frodo suddenly asked Levi: "Will this be a journey with beautiful scenery?"

"Have you decided?"

Amid the noise, the two spoke calmly.

"Well, I've decided." Frodo nodded.

Let’s go back a few decades.

At an unprepared birthday party, Levi gave Frodo a special gift.

A journey and adventure, the duration of which is determined by Frodo.

The journey was arranged by Levi.

Yes, he decided.

However, the journey decided today does not seem so beautiful, and the destination is not so beautiful either.

"I'd love to do it!"

Taking a deep breath, Frodo stood up and walked towards the crowd.
