Chapter 374 Quiet Street
“It always feels like the streets are a little quiet.”
Levi walked out of the castle, muttering something strange.
"There are no more people chatting and laughing on the roadside, and Xiaofen is not here either."
"Maybe they were all transferred to the Eastern Theater."
Hearing Levi's question, a strong old man who was bending over to plant vegetables answered without turning his head.
"Eastern Theater?"
"Yes, the east has been quite chaotic recently. I heard that from Nanhetao to Karl Town, the land is full of orcs, and they are almost on the road to heaven."
"Is there such a thing?"
"Well, I can tell you haven't been around lately, so you haven't heard the news."
The old man was leisurely picking up potatoes on the ground, and he continued in a calm tone:
"Except for the necessary garrisons, almost all the young men who can fight have gone to the east. By now, the Orcs have probably been almost wiped out. Young man, if you prepare to leave earlier, you might be able to catch up with the end."
"Is that so... Please tell me in detail. I want to know the current situation, including the follow-up plans."
"Now? What else could it be? The little pinkies have already flown over to join the battle. Maybe they have already gathered and set off for the Black Gate."
"What are you going to do at Black Gate?"
"Of course we are going to find our Lord. Didn't we have a meeting some time ago? Oh, seeing that you have so many questions, I guess you were not there at that time. Anyway, the result of that meeting was that everyone agreed that the Lord's disappearance was related to the Lord of Mordor. As long as we enter Mordor and capture the Dark Lord, we will be able to get something out of him."
"That's true. I think so too. It's probably Sauron's doing." Levi nodded.
"Well, it seems that you have the same idea as most people. In order to break through the solid black gate of Mordor, we dispatched more than 20 full regiments. 40,000 people gathered in Rhovanion. All the excellent rangers and legion champions who can still hold a sword were dispatched. I don't know where they are now..."
After harvesting the last potato in this 9*9 standard farmland, the old man stood up and stretched.
"Rumors from the outside world say that our lord has left this world and will never come back, but I don't believe it. I will never believe such absurd words, even if some of them are spoken by elves."
"Unfortunately, I am too old to go out with you to look for clues about the lord."
"But if anyone thinks that the old man in Roadside Castle is easy to bully, they are wrong. If I can swing a hoe, I can also swing a sword."
Looking at the old man's strong body, he probably fought in many battles when he was young and is a man who has been tempered.
“That makes sense.”
Levi agreed with what he said.
"A lot has happened during this period of time. I don't think I've been away for long..."
"It's time to go outside and take a look."
When he heard that the young man behind him was going to the Eastern Theater, the old man turned around after stretching and said, "You're going to travel again right after you got back? You're such an energetic young man. I wish you all the best..."
"belch--!"
The old man was suddenly stunned, and the rest of his words were stuck in his throat.
"Am I really not hallucinating? Yes, yes..."
He approached blankly until he felt the heat from the armor, and finally confirmed that what he saw was not an illusion.
Tears flowed down her wrinkled cheeks.
"You're back."
A large crowd slowly gathered behind him and cheered.
The soft and sacred light brought the legend back to this land, so that the end of people's expectations was no longer empty.
That day, when Levi returned, the dullness of the remaining residents in Roadside Fort was swept away, and they became excited.
This excitement spread outward from the roadside fort, and continued to spread to one territory after another.
Under Levi's instructions, a messenger set out from the roadside fort and quickly headed east along the Sky Road to let the gathered army know of Levi's return.
This message will serve as a reassuring anchor.
However, after the messenger brought the news, the army did not disband or withdraw. They continued to wait there according to Levi's instructions.
Waiting for Levi to finish his work in another place.
This silence made Mordor a little nervous, but the Mordor side did not just stand there. Instead, they took this opportunity to strengthen the defense of the Black Gate and continuously mobilized troops from the Far East and Harad.
Offense and defense reversed.
On the other hand, after announcing his return and dealing with the recent chaos, Levi first went to the Water City to confirm the news of the Fellowship of the Ring with the rangers stationed at the nearby Eregion Outpost.
"The Grey Wizard and eight others walked towards the west gate of Moria and never turned back."
Listening to the information from the outpost ranger, Levi thought about it for a moment.
Based on what he had seen, the Fellowship of the Ring should have successfully passed through Moria by now, but he didn't know where they went after leaving Moria.
As for Gandalf, no one knows where he is now or what his situation is.
In that indescribable hall that seemed to be outside the borders of the world, Gandalf's soul was summoned, and he seemed to have returned to Arda before himself.
Where would he be now, Lothlórien, Fangorn, or somewhere else?
You still have to go and see it to find out.
"Well, I know everything. Is there any other movement recently?"
After asking about the Fellowship of the Ring, Levi asked another question casually.
You know what, this question really caused trouble.
"News from afar: There is something strange happening at the crossing of the Isen River on the border of Rohan. The Dunlendings and Orcs are gathering together and approaching that place, with great intentions of attacking."
"oh?"
Levi showed some interest.
The ranger continued to report: "A reconnaissance team in the Ened region spotted a flying black shadow in the sky one night. It was suspected to be a Ringwraith, wandering and patrolling between Dunlitude and Isengard."
"According to our inference, a major war is likely to break out at the Aisen River Crossing in the near future."
The ranger told all the information he had gathered there.
After saying this, he waited quietly by the side - waiting for Levi's decision and action plan on the matter.
Fords of the Isen, Isengard…
Gandalf had said long ago that this place might no longer belong to them.
Despite all the precautions, Saruman still caused such a big mess. It was a bit unexpected, but also within expectations. After all, this old guy has great ambitions.
Later, when Levi went there in person, he confirmed Gandalf's words.
I also picked up a ring.
However, before he could make follow-up plans, an accident occurred in the Northern Wasteland, and now is a good time to deal with it.
"Gather the legion and go to the crossing of the Isen River for support."
Once the crossing of the Isen River was lost, the remaining defenders would have no choice but to retreat to the Hornburg in Helm's Deep.
Then there will most likely be the Battle of Hornburg.
The time span between these events in my memory was not long, just a few days.
The Horn Fort is very important. Once it is lost, Rohan will be in real trouble.
This is not a good thing.
Coincidentally, the defenders of the Water City have not moved.
Because of the orders given before Levi disappeared, they did not rashly participate in the war in the east, but instead guarded the land on the west and the southwest coastline.
The decision was made, and Levi returned to Water City from the outpost, and the huge city of Water City began to operate rapidly.
One by one, fully-strength legions were formed and gathered in the open square, waiting for Levi's next instructions.
"Set off."
