Chapter 54 Rescue
Lin Youcheng had to go investigate a case and couldn't pick up his daughter from school. Su Xiaonuo didn't see Uncle Lin's car, so she tugged at Lin Yihuan's sleeve and said worriedly, "Uncle Lin didn't come to pick you up? Are you okay by yourself?"
Lin Yihuan nodded seriously and said, "My dad went to investigate the case. Don't worry, I can handle it myself, absolutely no problem!!"
Su Xiaonuo said with a grin, "Yes, with Brother Lu here, of course I'm at ease." She waved her little hand and ran off, with Duan Jiahe following after her.
Lin Yihuan and Lu Xingche walked and talked. When they passed the artificial lake in the park, they saw a group of people gathered there. Lin Yihuan pulled Lu Xingche and ran over quickly.
Lu Xingche raised an eyebrow. This was the first time the little girl had ever grabbed his wrist. Why was Huanbao's hand so soft? Lu Xingche said seriously, "Huanbao, isn't it a bit inappropriate for you to hold my hand like this..."
Lin Yihuan paused slightly and reached out to shake off the hand that was grabbing his wrist.
Lu Xingche was speechless. He had only meant to tease her, but now he had completely messed things up. He quickly followed Lin Yihuan's steps.
Upon entering, they discovered that someone had fallen into the lake. Lin Yihuan frowned slightly, threw her schoolbag to Lu Xingche, and jumped directly into the artificial lake to rescue the person.
Before Lu Xingche could even call her, she had already jumped into the lake to save people.
Lu Xingche frowned with worry upon seeing this scene, staring intently at Lin Yihuan's figure. Fortunately, Lin Yihuan soon came up with a boy and left the boy by the lake.
Lu Xingche immediately took off his school uniform jacket and wrapped it tightly around the girl's body, worried that she would catch a cold.
Lin Yihuan glanced at the boy lying by the lake. "Hmph," she thought, "if I'd known it was him who fell in, I wouldn't have tried to save him!"
The boy rescued by Lin Yihuan was Lu Yubai, a prominent figure at Beijing No. 1 High School. He had even participated in the same math competition as Lin Yihuan, but ultimately suffered a crushing defeat at her hands.
Lu Yubai raised his head and said in a hoarse voice, "Lin, Lin Yihuan, thank you..."
Lin Yihuan nodded politely, turned around, and pulled Lu Xingche away. Just then, Lu Huai arrived and saw Lin Yihuan pulling Lu Xingche away. He glanced at the girl and noticed that her eyebrows and eyes resembled someone, but he couldn't remember who it was. He then shook his head, thinking that he must be overthinking it.
Lin Yihuan went home and took a bath. Lu Xingche went to the kitchen and made her some ginger soup.
It was already past six o'clock when Lu Yutian finished the meeting, only to find that the students had already left school. After turning on her phone, Lu Yutian saw a bunch of missed calls, including those from Lin Youcheng, her older brother Lu Huai, and a WeChat message from Ling Xue.
Lu Yutian picked up her phone and called Lin Youcheng back, only to find out that he had something to do and hadn't picked up Lin Yihuan. She was in a meeting and hadn't answered his call. She wondered if the girl had gotten lost.
Just then, Lu Yutian received a call from Lu Huai.
"Little sister, where are you? We're downstairs at your place, come back quickly!"
Lu Yutian quickly said, "Brother, I have something to do, let's talk later." Then she hurriedly hung up the phone, grabbed her bag, and went to find Lin Yihuan.
Lu Huai stared blankly at his phone, completely bewildered. He hadn't even finished speaking when the call ended!
At the Lin family home, Lu Xingche watched as Lin Yihuan finished all the ginger soup before he felt relieved enough to go home.
"Be careful on the road, and send me a WeChat message when you get home!!" Lin Yihuan stood at the door, waving goodbye to Lu Xingche.
