Chapter 14 Bribery can last a lifetime
Duan Jiahe leaned closer and replied with a grin, "Don't worry, squad leader, the boss arrived a long time ago..."
Lin Yihuan touched her nose, coughed lightly, and said, "Um, have you finished your homework?"
Duan Jiahe chuckled and handed him his crumpled notebook, saying, "Finished, all finished..."
Lin Yihuan hadn't intended to look at his homework, but when it was suddenly handed to her, she only glanced at it a few times before giving it back.
The first period was English class. Even after the bell rang, Lu Xingche still hadn't returned. Lin Yihuan patted her forehead, trying to clear her mind and focus on the lesson, only to find she couldn't concentrate at all!
Lin Yihuan rubbed her forehead, feeling that the class had been going on for ages. She opened her English book and started reading seriously again. Finally, the get out of class ended, and Lin Yihuan slumped onto the desk, gently rubbing her temples before slowly closing her eyes.
When Lu Xingche returned looking exhausted, carrying his school uniform jacket, he saw Lin Yihuan with her brows furrowed and slumped over the table. He wondered what was wrong and if she was feeling unwell again, so he reached out and draped the jacket over her shoulders.
Just as the school uniform jacket landed on her, Lin Yihuan noticed it, rubbed her eyes, and sat up abruptly upon seeing the person in front of her, asking, "Where did you go?"
Lu Xingche raised an eyebrow, noticing her slightly worried expression. A bright smile spread across his face, a far cry from his earlier tired look. He reached up and ruffled his neatly styled hair. "The sports meet is almost here, you know. I wanted to practice more..."
Lin Yihuan glanced at him and said, "Then you can skip class..."
Lu Xingche lowered his head slightly and said in a childish voice, "Class monitor, I was wrong, I won't do it again next time!!" He even raised his finger to show his sincerity. Lin Yihuan smiled helplessly; she really couldn't do anything with him.
She reached out and handed him the oversized school uniform jacket she had draped over herself, saying, "Put this on, don't catch a cold."
Lu Xingche pulled a few strawberry candies from his pocket, a happy smile on his face, and said, "Class monitor, these are for you..."
"You're openly bribing the class monitor!" she said, but still reached out and took the candy he offered.
"You say it's a bribe, so be it..." A bribe can last a lifetime. Many years later, Lu Xingche will always have a few strawberry candies of this brand in his pocket, because he'll need them to bribe her anytime...
Duan Jiahe rushed back from outside the classroom, proudly announcing, "The monthly exam results are out! Our class monitor is in first place, and Shen Yibei from Class 1 is in second. Our class monitor scored a full 50 points higher than him..."
"How did I do on the physics exam?" Lin Yihuan was most worried about physics. She did well in the other subjects, but physics was giving her a real headache.
"I'm going to take a look, I'll be right back!" With that, she dashed out of the classroom.
Lin Yihuan covered her face, not wanting to hear her physics score at all; she couldn't even bear to look at it. Waaah, someone please save this child!
Lu Xingche couldn't resist looking at her adorable face-covering expression and reached out to ruffle her soft, fragrant hair.
He said in a deep voice, "I'll teach you!"
Lin Yihuan blinked her small eyes and stared at him, asking in surprise, "You can do that?"
Lu Xingche leaned back lazily in his chair and nodded seriously, saying, "Then I'll tutor you in physics, and you tutor me in English, Chinese, and chemistry, okay? No matter how you look at it, I'm making a profit!!"
Lin Yihuan nodded slightly, looking a little dazed, and said, "Okay, no problem!!"
"Then it's settled. I'll pick you up on Saturday, and you'll have to tutor me..." Lu Xingche said quickly, afraid she would refuse.
Lin Yihuan felt something was off, but she still nodded with a smile.
