Chapter 261 A Disgraceful Scene

Zhang Fan and Wen Xi carefully settled Zhao Qing into the car, ensuring her comfort and safety.

Although Zhao Qing was still somewhat shaken, her emotions had stabilized considerably with the reassurance of the two.

Zhang Fan originally wanted to go straight back to his place, as he was quite tired after a day's journey, but Wen Xi expressed her concerns: "What if we encounter any more accidents on the way? Why don't you come to my place with me first?"

Upon hearing this, Zhang Fan frowned slightly, but considering Zhao Qing's safety and Wen Xi's worries, he finally nodded.

So the two drove to a secluded seaside property in Wenxi.

Wenxi rarely sets foot in this property, partly because she is busy with work, and partly for safety reasons, since her identity and work often make her a target for criminals.

Upon arriving at their destination, the two of them helped Zhao Qing into the room, gently settled her on the bed, covered her with a blanket, and ensured that she could rest peacefully.

After doing all this, Zhang Fan quietly left the room and went downstairs to the spacious living room.

I casually sat on the sofa and just picked up my phone to check for new messages when an urgent news report suddenly appeared on the TV screen—Young Master Du had escaped during his escort!

In the news, Huo Deguang solemnly announced the arrest warrant to the camera, but Zhang Fan noticed something unusual about it.

He chuckled inwardly. Was Huo Deguang openly letting Young Master Du go? If Young Master Du were to be captured in the future, wouldn't Huo Deguang also be exposed?

Wasn't he afraid that Young Master Du would turn around and bite him back? However, these thoughts only flashed through Zhang Fan's mind. After all, he was more concerned about how to help the police bring Young Master Du and his gang to justice.

Time passed quietly, and Zhang Fan was left sitting alone in the living room, the sound of the television his only companion.

Just then, a light footstep came from upstairs, and then Wenxi appeared at the top of the stairs.

She wore a pure white nightgown, the hem of which swayed gently with her steps, like a fairy descending to earth, pure yet elegant.

But her face showed a hint of embarrassment and hesitation, as if there was something she was ashamed to say.

“Um…” Wen Xi’s voice was soft and slightly shy. She stopped and stared at Zhang Fan for a moment, hesitating to speak.

Zhang Fan looked up and saw that her cheeks were slightly flushed, and her eyes were filled with a complex emotion, a desire for help mixed with a touch of shyness.

"What's wrong? Wenxi, just say what's on your mind," Zhang Fan said. He could read the unease and anticipation in Wenxi's eyes.

Wen Xi gently bit her lip, as if she was making her final mental struggle.

"Could you do me a favor? Zhao Qing asked me to beg you. It seems she ate something that makes people feel euphoric."

Wen Xi said, blushing.

That's why Young Master Du and his group aren't in a hurry to get to work. They're waiting for the medicine to take effect.

She was starting to lose control. Wenxi felt that this man was definitely capable and trusted his abilities.

So I told my best friend, and that person asked me to come out.

"Take a shower."

This was my best friend's only request.

"What? Have I turned into something?"

It wasn't that Zhang Fan was unwilling to help, he just felt something was off.

"You don't usually have this kind of opportunity, go quickly."

Wenxi got down and sat down.

Zhang Fan felt quite helpless, always feeling like he was just a tool, doing whatever he was told.

Now I have to do those kinds of things myself?

That young master Du never dreamed that he would be the one to reap the rewards.

He worked so hard for so long, but got nothing in return, and ended up being wanted by the police.

Zhang Fan walked in and entered the room. As soon as he stepped inside, he felt a figure rushing towards him.

Soon, a different kind of noise came from inside.

Wenxi was still downstairs, but even so, she could hear how loud the noise was.

At first, it seemed like my best friend was in control, but gradually, the atmosphere became awkward.

It seemed that the man had completely taken the initiative.

this?

This works?

That's why I'm afraid of that man.

Wenxi held a cup of tea, her eyes on the TV, but her mind wasn't on it.

The commotion upstairs was so loud that I couldn't help but listen.

The next morning, as the first rays of sunlight pierced through the gap in the curtains and gently touched Wenxi's face, she was still deep in her dreams, a faint smile on her lips, as if she were having a beautiful dream.

However, a sudden yawn broke the tranquility. Wen Xi rubbed her sleepy eyes, slowly sat up in bed, stretched, and a lazy, comfortable feeling welled up in her heart.

She quickly washed up and then decided to go check on Zhao Qing.

After all, after settling Zhao Qing in last night, I didn't know how she was doing now.

Thinking of this, Wen Xi quickened her pace and headed towards Zhao Qing's room.

Along the way, she found the house quiet, without the noise and tension of the previous night, everything seemed so peaceful.

She gently pushed open the door to Zhao Qing's room and carefully went in, afraid of disturbing Zhao Qing's rest.

However, when she entered the room, the scene before her eyes took her by surprise.

The room was a mess, as if it had been through a storm. Pillows, blankets, and clothes were scattered all over the floor, and tables and chairs were knocked over and overturned, creating a chaotic scene. Zhao Qing was lying in the midst of the chaos, her hair disheveled, her clothes wrinkled, and a few tear stains still clinging to her face, making her look particularly disheveled.

Seeing this scene, Wenxi couldn't help but feel a surge of guilt and heartache.

She quickly went to Zhao Qing's side and gently covered her with the blanket, afraid of waking her.

However, Zhao Qing slowly opened her eyes at this moment, her resentful gaze fixed on Wen Xi, as if she had a thousand words to say but didn't know where to begin.

“Wenxi…” Zhao Qing’s voice was a little hoarse, with a hint of weariness and helplessness, “You’ve finally come.”

Looking into Zhao Qing's resentful eyes, Wen Xi felt even more guilty.

She knew that what happened last night had greatly shocked and hurt Zhao Qing, and that she hadn't been able to take good care of her, leaving her to bear so much alone.

"Wen Xi asked softly, her voice filled with apology and self-reproach, "Are you alright? Is anything bothering you?"

Zhao Qing shook her head gently, her eyes revealing a hint of helplessness and exhaustion.

"I'm fine, just a little tired and want to rest for a bit," she said softly, her voice trembling slightly.

Wen Xi knew that Zhao Qing was forcing a smile.

"I finally understand why you're afraid of him. I almost died because of him," Zhao Qing said with her eyes closed.

Wenxi blushed even more after hearing this.
