Chapter 18 Doctor Fighting Zombies? He really came back to life, oh well...
As the nurse screamed, everyone around the operating table except Allen scattered like screaming chickens. Only Allen remained, holding the heart in one hand and slapping the 'squid' with the other.
"Don't move." Allen grabbed the body donor by the neck. "You still have one kidney left to harvest."
There was a moment of silence in the operating room, then a timid nurse watched as the 'zombie' under Allen's hands suddenly fainted.
The owner of the heart glared at Allen with fierce eyes, his voice hoarse: "Give me back my heart!"
It's like a scene from a horror movie.
He tried to reach out and grab the heart in Allen's hand, but his body was stiff from being dead for some time.
Allen frowned and looked at 'Squid' reproachfully, "Your heart now belongs to 'Gift of Hope.' Even if you were in court, the judge probably wouldn't agree to let you take it back. It's donated, so don't touch it."
Dr. Osborn remained calm and collected, single-handedly transforming a horror film into a mad scientist movie.
The awakened 'squid' was unable to move because Dr. Osborn had him by the neck. In his struggle, he kicked over the surgical tray next to the hospital bed and was then punched hard by Dr. Osborn again.
The 'zombie' that had been choked by Dr. Osborn again became docile and made whimpering sounds begging for mercy.
Dr. Miller gasped, and everyone looked at Dr. Osborn with a complex mix of emotions, including awe and reverence.
Maggie, the nurse who usually enjoys going on rounds with Allen, screamed again and tried to throw herself into Allen's arms. For a moment, Dr. Miller couldn't tell if she wanted to protect Allen or take the opportunity to touch his waist.
Ellen, holding up the heart, calmly avoided Maggie to look at the staff of the 'Gift of Hope' and gestured with her eyes for them to quickly bring over the organ storage box.
The squid's hand was still flailing about, so Allen continued to hold it down and asked, "Can anyone verify whether his body was also donated? I hope to see him in the lab later; he seems to be of great research value."
The 'squid' began to roar. It seemed that even with its heart removed, it was still a very energetic zombie who could understand human speech.
None of the staff at the 'Gift of Hope' dared to help, not even Dr. Osborn's stern gaze.
Even if Dr. Osborne is the most handsome man in the house, it won't work.
The silent staff finally reacted and scrambled towards the door. The operating room alarm sounded, and Ms. Goodman's panicked voice came through the comms. This added a lot of unnecessary trouble for Allen; for example, he had nowhere to put the heart he was holding, and he couldn't free his hands to remove the 'squid's' kidneys.
"Aaaaaahh ...
Amid Maggie's screams, Squid had already grabbed Allen's arm and sat up from the operating table. Ms. Goodman, who was monitoring the surgery on the monitor, screamed even louder than Maggie, and Allen could also hear the usually calm and elegant middle-aged woman berating the insurance company and lawyers over the operating room's loudspeaker.
Allen calmly used his other hand to forcefully break off the 'squid's' claw-like fingers, dislocating its fragile joints in the process.
The squid cried out in pain and began to mumble curses at Allen.
Allen ignored him: "...Could you please keep your voices down? Also, he's legally dead now. You can treat this as a neurological reflex phenomenon unique to corpses. I thought you'd seen this before."
Everyone present choked for a moment, instinctively thinking that Allen was mocking the scandal reported by the organ donation organization last month—a man who 'voluntarily donated organs' jumped off his hospital bed and ran away during a 'Walk of Honor'.
But the situation is clearly different now.
Finally, Dr. Miller realized what was happening: "Allen, we can't joke like that in our hospital... cough, maybe we should do another check-up?"
**
Under everyone's watchful eyes, Alan, with a sour face, carefully sewed the 'squid' heart back up, because he remembered that Harry was still in the hospital and he didn't want Harry to see him being scolded by Mrs. Goodman.
The stubborn underworld boss, whose heart had returned to normal, was inexplicably determined to walk out of the operating room on his own two legs. No one dared to stop him except Allen, and Allen, who dared to stop him, simply didn't bother.
Thus began the most chaotic day in history for Ms. Goodman and her emergency room staff.
The 'squid' walked out of the operating room door, its surgical gown still open and covered in blood, and then walked the 'honor walk' of organ donation on its own two legs.
Then everyone in Brood's emergency room was nearly driven mad—those present were all people who had witnessed his first 'honor walk,' and everyone tacitly agreed not to participate in the same person's 'honor walk' twice in a row.
However, Brudhaven Hospital is an open and free place. After a round of screams and curses, Dr. Edward had already taken out his phone and started filming the scene of the zombie outbreak in Brudhaven's emergency room. 'Squid' was also smugly showing off the scars on its chest to all the cameras present, almost as if it wanted to cut open its chest cavity so everyone could see the patched-up inside.
The most amazing thing is that he can now speak very smoothly.
Pregnant Mrs. Johnson suddenly appeared from somewhere, grabbed her amazing husband, and burst into tears. Finally, the couple stood together in front of the media who had swarmed into the emergency room like a pack of mad dogs, praising Dr. Osborne for being beautiful, kind, and highly skilled.
Allen stared intently at the couple who should have been dead, then frowned and pondered over the newly released medical report of the 'squid' in his hand.
He personally conducted a physical examination on the 'squid', and all the indicators showed that he was a normal human being with his bodily functions gradually recovering, even healthier than before his 'death'.
“Stop looking, he… he looks much healthier than me.” Dr. Edward, his beer belly tucked in, hid behind Allen, ultimately not daring to utter the word 'gangster boss.' He could only sigh and sympathize with Allen, “How did he survive? Is this what they call a good person…”
Ms. Goodman glared at him fiercely, because the media cameras were already focused on them.
Allen rolled his eyes and stood in front of the camera with a disgruntled expression, as Ms. Goodman pushed him forward.
The manager forced a smile behind him and reminded Allen, "Smile, Allen, this is a great opportunity to boost the hospital's reputation... Whether it's good or bad, the board will be happy to see us on the front page."
“Yes, that’s right, I’m not scared at all. We Hawaiians aren’t afraid of this, and besides, haven’t New York and Gotham had similar precedents?” Dr. Edward took two steps back and rambled on, “The ability to bring the dead back to life is an attribute that only large cities have. Think about the last time half of New York’s population disappeared and then reappeared, and we only have one person here… Maybe this means that Broodhaven will become a large-scale accident city like New York and Gotham in the future!”
"Please, stop talking nonsense!" Maggie shoved Dr. Edward aside and took up a safe corner behind Dr. Osborn. She looked at Allen's back with admiration. "Oh, anyway, with Dr. Osborn here, I think I can do another surgery... the kind on a living person."
Next, Maggie began to tell those around her how Dr. Osborn had bravely protected them all in the operating room and even removed a zombie's arm.
Dr. Edward listened with great interest, and finally, pointing to the knife wound behind the 'squid's' ear, he made a pointed comment: "Darling Alan, I can tell you really want to perform an autopsy on him... You think he won't sue you? Did you use a skull saw? Does he even have a brain?"
Allen crossed his arms, trying to avoid Ms. Goodman, Dr. Edward, and Nurse Maggie who were shrinking behind him, and said regretfully, "Tsk, I didn't have time to cut open his brain. Mainly because our great executive director was yelling like a desperate groundhog, which hindered my performance."
Ms. Groundhog: "Alan, I won't allow you to insult me just because you're still an intern."
“I’m just stating the facts.” Allen looked at Ms. Goodman’s hand gripping his shirt. “Besides, I’m a full-time employee now, aren’t I? Don’t even think about trying to pay me an intern’s salary!”
Suddenly, a hand reached out and rescued Allen from the encirclement of Ms. Goodman, Dr. Edward, and Nurse Maggie.
With a beaming smile, Harry pushed his way through the crowd and introduced his brother to the media cameras: "...That's right, Allen came to Broodhaven only because of the Osborne Group's new investment direction...Family strife? That's all nonsense. I have nothing else to say, sorry..."
The ER in Brudhaven was bustling like a press conference; Harry Osborne had successfully turned it into his home turf.
As it turns out, news of a dead man coming back to life is perhaps less attention-grabbing than the news that Dr. Osborne is one of the heirs to the Osborne family and that the Osborne Group will heavily invest in the pharmaceutical industry. At least the financial giants involved in healthcare have begun to pay close attention to Osborne's movements. Financial magazines claim they may be welcoming another healthcare tycoon, medical associations are considering whether the entry of the Osborne Group will create a "catfish effect" in the healthcare industry, and netizens, always eager for drama, are speculating when the two Osbornes will be assassinated on the street like the previous healthcare group executive.
As for the person who came back to life, "Squid," the hospital said they were aware of it, and the police said that since no one had reported it, it was none of their business.
Only the 'Gift of Hope' had to pay compensation for the emotional distress of the staff who worked today, and mourn the loss of a heart, two kidneys, and a bag of bone marrow.

The routine in the ER of Brudhaven continued, and Allen, who had been urgently called to the hospital, did not plan to go back immediately.
After all, there's nothing shameful about running away; Matt must have already seen that he's in the news again.
Harry followed closely behind Allen, ostensibly to observe the hospital with the doctors at Brudhaven's emergency department in order to determine the amount of investment to be made later.
After a long and stressful day, Ms. Goodman suddenly perked up. She looked at the gleaming Dr. Osborne with expectant eyes and hinted that the doctor should get another proton beam knife for their emergency department.
Harry said that 750 million was nothing, he could get two sets.
Ms. Goodman was so excited she looked like she was about to faint.
Allen had no choice but to take his younger brother, who was spending money recklessly and was starving, to get something to eat.
His brother, completely unmoved, still looked at him with that arrogant, spoiled brat expression: "Is your hospital always this dangerous? Will there be more zombies running out next time?"
"Are you curious?" Allen carefully examined the expression on his younger brother's face.
For some reason, he remembered the scene when Harry used to follow him around like a little golden retriever when they were kids, always wanting to go to the lab with him.
So after thinking it over, he decided to use Osborn's money to take his brother to visit the currently closed morgue and laboratory. "Let's go."
Harry didn't know where his brother was taking him, but he didn't ask.
Now that 'Squid' has recovered, he has requested to be discharged from the hospital, and no one in Bluehaven dares to keep him. The police have not yet made a response, presumably because they are in a meeting discussing how to deal with 'Squid,' this criminal who has come back from the dead.
Allen showed his younger brother the ample air conditioning in the morgue and the smell of corpses in the autopsy room, before finally pulling a small bottle out of his pocket.
Inside was a small piece of dark red human tissue, part of the spleen he had secretly taken from the 'squid'.
Allen carefully poured the substance into a petri dish.
Harry leaned closer with some interest, his gaze finally settling on the edge of the slightly wriggling human tissue.
"It looks a bit disgusting," Harry commented.
He reached out to touch it, but Allen slapped his hand away: "Didn't I tell you not to touch anything in the lab? Haven't you studied the 'Lab Safety Manual'?"
“You’ve moved, so why can’t I?” Harry poked the thing with the tweezers, and the lump of flesh seemed to feel pain and wriggled back a few millimeters. “Would it be okay if your precious Dick Grayson came instead?”
Alan didn't understand why Harry suddenly brought up Dick; he didn't even know that Harry knew about Dick.
But he could never understand his younger brother's thoughts, and after several nonsensical conversations, he learned to ignore him.
“I thought you wanted to see something more exciting,” Allen said.
Under Harry's curious gaze, Allen took out a syringe.
The syringe, containing 1 milliliter, was filled with a strangely colored pale yellow liquid that seemed to shimmer slightly, with something floating inside, moving slowly.
Allen inserted the needle into the tissue.
The liquid was slowly injected into the trembling piece of meat.
As if sensing danger, the chunk of flesh tried to wriggle away, but as time passed, it gradually stopped trembling and finally turned into a pool of blood, as if it had never existed.
Allen seemed to have expected this and did not show any surprise at the experimental results.
Harry was a little confused about what his brother was doing. He thought Alan was going to use it for research, but he didn't expect him to destroy it.
He asked with some curiosity, "Is this your latest research result? Have you shown this to anyone else?"
Allen nodded: “The advanced version. In fact, you’ve seen the previous generation of this thing—that’s what I injected Norman Osborn with.”
Harry's eyes widened in surprise.
But then Alan continued, "Harry, if... one day you have to use this potion, go see what Norman Osborn looks like first. Perhaps accepting death peacefully isn't such a bad thing."
**
Night had fallen when the two left the lab. Ms. Goodman did not express any opinion about Alan secretly bringing people into the lab. She simply brought out a bunch of large documents for Alan and Harry to sign and tried to advocate for the right to 'make a sculpture of the esteemed Mr. Osborn to place at the entrance of their emergency department'.
Allen hesitated, but his boss shut him up with, "We plan to give Dr. Osborne a raise."
Harry frowned as he looked at the terms and conditions, somewhat puzzled: "Where do you plan to use my sculpture?"
“It’s just a memento,” Ms. Goodman said happily. “You are now our hospital’s largest investor, and we want everyone to see your kindness and generosity! Please rest assured that we will never use your image outside of our terms and conditions. You must also want Dr. Osborne to see you every day at work and have a good day!”
Harry thought about the scene of his brother having to work in front of his statue every day, and happily signed the document.
Allen: ...
However, young Harry's good mood didn't last ten minutes.
At the hospital entrance, an old Jetta was parked there, and a man was leaning casually against the front of the car, attracting the attention of the ladies passing by on their way home from get off work. They lingered, looking at his chest muscles under his jacket and his glutes encased in casual pants.
Allen spotted that familiar figure from afar.
In the darkness, Dick flashed a bright smile that could light up the night, and greeted the doctor who had finally finished his shift: "Allen, I've come to take you home."
Harry instantly deciphered the bastard's identity—it was that bastard whose brother he'd become so close to that they'd swapped wallets! He'd almost forgotten about it!
Osborn's smile vanished instantly. He turned and glared fiercely at Allen: "Where did he come from? What's going on?"
Alan looked at Harry, who was inexplicably angry, feeling utterly bewildered.
Dick immediately came over, naturally took Allen's hand, and then slipped a bouquet of roses into the doctor's hand.
Allen suddenly felt even more question marks above his head, but before he could wonder what Dick was doing, he was interrupted by a familiar voice.
Paramedic Daniel ran toward him, carrying an unconscious child on his back.
"Thank God, Dr. Osborn! Please save her quickly!"
