Chapter 155 Overestimating One's Abilities

Li Baolong quietly hid behind a thick tree, his sharp eyes, like those of a hawk, fixed on the slowly passing convoy. He saw that some of the vehicles in the convoy were badly damaged, but some stubborn individuals remained, hiding in the shadows and occasionally firing sniper shots, trying to prevent the enemy from getting closer.

Li Baolong snorted coldly, a glint of icy light flashing in his eyes. He swiftly pulled out more than a dozen grenades from his waist and, without hesitation, threw them at the bottom of each vehicle. Several deafening explosions followed, flames shooting into the sky and instantly engulfing the entire convoy. Then came a chorus of screams, one after another. Those who had been struggling to hold on were now scattered in all directions. Some were wounded, yet they still ran frantically, as if pursued by demons.

Amidst the billowing smoke, Li Baolong emerged expressionlessly from his hiding place. He gripped a brand-new US standard-issue rifle tightly, expertly cocking it as he strode towards the chaotic convoy. He moved cautiously, his eyes scanning the surroundings warily.

When Li Baolong arrived at the dozen or so cars, he carefully checked the interiors, but Yang Dayong was nowhere to be found. He couldn't help but wonder, "Could this guy have escaped in the chaos?" Thinking this, Li Baolong's face grew increasingly grim.

Suddenly, he noticed movement under the vehicle. He quickly stepped forward, bent down, and yanked a wounded soldier out from under the vehicle. The soldier stared at Li Baolong with terror in his eyes, his body trembling uncontrollably. Li Baolong pointed his cold gun at him and shouted sharply, "Speak! Where is your regimental commander, Yang Dayong?"

Faced with the dark muzzle of a gun and Li Baolong's murderous gaze, the soldier was terrified and stammered, "Commander Yang... he ran... ran back, he... he ran into his villa." As he spoke, the soldier raised his hand, trembling, and pointed to a luxurious building not far away.

Following the soldier's pointing finger, Li Baolong saw the villa nestled among the green trees. He cursed inwardly, "That cunning fellow! He ran so fast! But even if you can escape for now, you won't escape my grasp. Today, I'll teach you a lesson, you arrogant, thieving villain!" With that thought, Li Baolong gripped his rifle tightly, strode towards the villa.

Li Baolong moved with the agility of a swallow, his steps swift as a gust of wind, quickly making his way to the back of the villa. His incredibly sharp senses had already detected that behind the seemingly peaceful villa gate lay a hidden trap! Twenty or thirty burly men armed with automatic rifles were lying in ambush, waiting for Li Baolong to walk right into their trap. If he dared to push open that door, he would be met with a hail of bullets.

However, Li Baolong was not about to fall into the enemy's trap so easily. With a swift movement, he leaped onto the second floor of the villa as lightly as a bird. Then, using his extraordinary spiritual power, he easily passed through the door and skillfully unlocked it. In this way, Li Baolong slipped into the second-floor hall unnoticed.

As soon as he stepped into the hall, Li Baolong, with his exceptional observation skills, spotted a tightly closed room. Judging from the faint light filtering through the crack in the door and the subtle noises emanating from it, there seemed to be someone inside. So, he quietly approached the door, gently pushed it open a crack, and peeked inside. Sure enough, what he saw was two figures tightly embracing. Although he could only see their backs, their figures clearly indicated they were two women.

Li Baolong didn't linger. He knew time was of the essence and he had to resolve the crisis as quickly as possible. Without hesitation, he turned and walked towards the stairwell, reaching into his pocket and pulling out several powerful hand grenades. Then, without hesitation, he forcefully hurled these grenades into the lobby and towards the doorway below.

Several deafening booms suddenly erupted, and the entire first floor was instantly engulfed in thick smoke. Accompanied by screams of agony, the previously prepared ambush force was thrown into chaos. Amidst the confusion, one man stood out—Yang Dayong. Unfortunately, despite his quick reflexes and attempt to dodge the grenade, he was still struck by two pieces of shrapnel, sustaining minor injuries.

Yang Dayong was furious. While clutching his wound, he shouted at the building upstairs, "Listen up, you guys over there! If you have the guts, stand up and fight me fair and square! You only know how to hide in the shadows and resort to these despicable sneak attacks. Are you even a man?!"

Yang Dayong felt an unbearable heaviness in his heart, as if a huge boulder was pressing down on him, making him feel so depressed he could vomit blood and die! His eyes widened as he stared around in disbelief. His side had suffered heavy losses without even spotting the enemy; hundreds of his brothers had fallen in a short time. And the culprit behind all this was the grenades that flew around like raindrops, seemingly costing absolutely nothing.

At this moment, Li Baolong, who was not far away, heard Yang Dayong's angry and terrified shouts, but he only slightly raised the corners of his mouth, revealing a sinister smile that was hard to detect. He sneered inwardly, "Hmph, don't be in such a hurry. I'll play with you for a while and let you taste what it's like to be tortured." As he spoke, he skillfully pulled out several more grenades from his waist and threw them forcefully in the direction of the other survivors without hesitation.

The grenades traced arcs through the air before landing accurately on the ground. The seven or eight survivors were instantly terrified, screaming and scattering like headless flies, trying to find a safe corner to escape the sudden disaster. However, it was too late. Several loud explosions followed, and more people were unfortunately injured, their painful screams echoing throughout the battlefield. Some even started cursing, their emotions running high; others spoke rapidly in Vietnamese, their voices a chaotic jumble that was difficult to decipher. But Li Baolong paid no attention to any of this. He watched everything unfold with a blank expression, then quickly threw another grenade. With a deafening roar, the screams of two wounded men suddenly rang out, echoing across the entire battlefield, sending chills down everyone's spines.

Yang Dayong looked around and saw that no one else could stand up; only he could still walk. He quickly grabbed a rifle and ran into the bathroom, hiding in a corner, panting heavily, his heart filled with terror.
