Chapter 2 The Origin of the Heavenly Book

With his intelligence, Master Yi has reached the sixth or seventh level of the beginner stage of the Charm Technique after several years of study. He still needs some fortuitous opportunities to break through to the Great Perfection of the beginner stage. Currently, there are eighteen disciples in the temple. For ease of management, Master Yi has named them Yun Yi, Yun Er, and so on up to Yun Shiba. These poor children originally didn't have names; in times of war, simply surviving was a luxury. Yun Yi is the oldest, at 22 years old. The others are in their teens, and the youngest, Yun Shiba, is already nine years old and can chop wood, fetch water, and cook on his own.

Old Master Yi was also an exceptionally intelligent and extraordinary person. In just a few years of study, his Elementary Charm Technique had reached the eighth level. The merchant, as if under a spell, dazedly and generously handed over the herbs to the old Taoist. It wasn't until more than ten minutes after the old Taoist left that the merchant snapped out of his daze, looking as if he had just emerged from a bizarre dream.

Several years passed in this uneventful way, but how could such a chaotic world remain peaceful forever? Sichuan Province descended into chaos, and a massive battle erupted between Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan. That day, a group of uninvited guests suddenly arrived at the Taoist temple, claiming to be sent by warlord Liu Xiang, requesting the old Taoist priest to perform a ritual to bless the Sichuan army with a great victory in the defense and a triumphant return.
