Chapter 35 The Return and a New Chapter

The most beautiful road is the road home. Li Baolong and Wang Yumei walked side by side in silence, yet a unique understanding grew within their tranquility.

During their three-day train journey, they huddled together, time flowing slowly by amidst the clanging of the tracks. The scenery outside the window changed like a slideshow, but in their world, it seemed only the warmth of their close proximity remained.

Finally back home in Jianzhou, Li Baolong stepped into his familiar room and the first thing he did was rush into the bathroom to wash away the fatigue of his journey. When his gaze inadvertently fell on the pattern on his left arm, a pang of disappointment welled up inside him. The pattern remained unchanged, seemingly indicating that the personal space contained within this Taoist hairpin was only one cubic meter. He frowned slightly, pondering to himself, what could one possibly do in such a small space? It seemed he needed to plan it carefully; perhaps he could uncover some new secrets.

For the next few days, Li Baolong chose to stay at home, enjoying the tranquility and comfort of his home, and gradually dispelling the fatigue of his journey with sleep.

That day, he visited his uncle's house. Inside the warm house, Li Baolong vividly recounted his trip to Xinjiang, captivating his uncle and aunt. At the end, Li Baolong mentioned that he would be going to Chengdu in a few days to check on the school. His uncle nodded slightly, then, remembering something, advised, "Baolong, when you go to Chengdu, please visit your cousin. I don't know if his business is legitimate now. Could you please persuade him not to go down the path of crime, but to earn money honestly, find a good girl, get married, and have children? That's the right path."

Upon hearing this, Li Baolong couldn't help but burst into laughter: "Uncle, don't worry about it. My cousin is probably destined to marry late. He hasn't met the right person yet, so it's good that he's focusing on making money for now." His uncle shook his head helplessly, and a relaxed laugh filled the room. Meanwhile, Li Baolong was quietly contemplating the future. Whether it was the upcoming university life, the mysterious portable space, or the hazy feelings between him and Wang Yumei, everything was like a road shrouded in mist, waiting for him to explore.

Back home, Li Baolong began planning his future life in Chengdu. Late at night, in the quiet of the night, Li Baolong used his spiritual perception to access his personal space and planned a spatial layout. "This space is only one cubic meter; though small, it should be of great use," Li Baolong murmured to himself, his eyes gradually hardening. He knew that if he wanted this space to become his capable assistant, he had to plan it meticulously.

First, he considered the storage organization. He divided the space into several areas, one for valuables such as the rare book and his savings. Another area was for emergency supplies. Medicine was essential, ranging from common cold medicine and anti-inflammatory drugs to bandages and disinfectants for external injuries, neatly arranged in a small box. There were also compressed foods, cola, mineral water, and compressed biscuits, which could provide the body with necessary energy in critical moments. In addition, he planned to include a set of lightweight outdoor tools, climbing rope, a multi-tool, a small flashlight, and a fire starter, just in case.

Li Baolong then thought that the space's preservation function might be utilized. He planned to set up a simple "preservation area" in one corner, where he could temporarily store any precious ingredients or items that needed to be preserved in the future. Although the space was limited, it could be very useful if arranged properly.

He sat down at his desk, took out paper and pen, and began to draw a detailed spatial plan. He meticulously marked the size, shape, and items to be placed in each area. During the planning process, he also constantly thought about how to acquire more suitable items for the space and how to use it discreetly.

Over the next few days, Li Baolong followed his plan and began meticulously organizing the items he intended to place in his personal space. He searched every corner of his home, selecting suitable objects while contemplating the unexpected changes this mysterious portable space would bring to his future, and how he could use it to explore further unknown possibilities. He was about to begin his university life in a new city, and this space would undoubtedly be of immense help to him.

In the stillness of the night, Li Baolong was engrossed in planning his personal space. The room was so quiet that only his soft breathing could be heard. He focused intently on moving various items in and out, carefully adjusting their positions, trying to maximize the use of this tiny one-cubic-meter space.

After several days of practice, he had become adept at using his senses. Anything within a meter of his right hand, and whose size did not exceed the remaining capacity of his space, could be successfully stored within it. However, when he tried to transfer unseen items from the box directly into his space, he failed. He tried several times, each time exhausting himself, and finally collapsed onto the bed, completely worn out. He stared at the ceiling, his mind racing. After much thought, he concluded that perhaps his senses were still too weak, making it difficult to control unseen objects. He could only accept this explanation for now.

The morning sunlight streamed through the window onto Li Baolong's face. He got up early; today he was going to school to pick up his university admission letter, with only two weeks left before the start of the semester. Filled with anticipation and excitement, he arrived at the school's academic affairs office and successfully obtained his letter. He didn't leave immediately but waited for Wang Yumei, as they had arranged to meet at school that day.

Time ticked by, and just as Li Baolong was starting to get anxious, Wang Yumei finally came into view. Their eyes met, and smiles instantly bloomed on their faces. They quickly walked together, but fearing being seen by their teachers and classmates, they only exchanged a few simple pleasantries before agreeing to talk in detail at the cake shop on the back street of the school at noon.
