Chapter 37 A New Place to Stay

After finishing all this, Li Baolong dragged his slightly tired body home. He sat quietly in a chair, his thoughts racing like wild horses, wandering freely through the past years he had spent with Zhou Jie. He remembered their first meeting, the sunlight shining on Zhou Jie's hair, her shy smile like a budding flower, instantly captivating his heart.

Especially that night, the moonlight, gentle as water, enveloped them, reminding them of Zhou Jie's love and tenderness. It was a deep fusion of souls, allowing Li Baolong to profoundly feel the beauty and power of love, becoming the most precious and unforgettable memory of his life.

Lost in a whirlpool of memories, Li Baolong gradually felt drowsy. He slowly closed his eyes, and in his dream, he returned to the banks of the Tuojiang River, walking side by side with Zhou Jie, the two of them nestled together in a bamboo grove.

The next morning, sunlight filtered through the dappled leaves, illuminating the small house where Li Baolong had lived for many years. He picked up a broom and carefully swept every corner, as if sweeping away the past memories along with the dust, yet also picking them up one by one in his heart.

Finally, the house was swept clean, as tidy as when he first arrived. Li Baolong slowly put down the broom, looked around, his gaze lingering on every familiar inch of the space. He took a deep breath, trying to imprint this last breath in his heart, then shouldered his already packed bag and resolutely walked towards the door.

Each step felt incredibly heavy. As he stepped out of the door, a gentle breeze stirred his hair, but it couldn't dispel the lingering affection in his heart. He softly closed the door, the click sound seeming to mark a somber end to this period of time.

As he stepped out of the community gate, his steps involuntarily slowed down. He couldn't help but look back, where every blade of grass, every tree, every building in the community radiated a warm and welcoming light in the morning glow.

Reluctance flickered in Li Baolong's eyes. The days and nights he had spent in this room, the growth and laughter, the pain and confusion he had experienced, all unfolded before him like a scroll. But he knew he couldn't stay. He carried his dreams and future on his shoulders and had to embark on a new journey.

He slowly turned around and walked towards the bus station bound for Chengdu. The sound of bus engines echoed in the distance, like a call from fate. Li Baolong quickened his pace, his figure fading into the morning light, carrying with him longing for the past, heading towards Chengdu, a city full of unknowns and hopes. There lay his studies, new opportunities, and perhaps, the possibility of a future reunion with Zhou Jie.
