Chapter 38 College Life is Wonderful

Back in his small apartment in Chengdu, Li Baolong calmed down. Tomorrow was the start of university, a brand new day awaiting him, the beginning of his university life. He had heard that university students could date, smoke and drink, and even work to earn money, much more carefree than in high school—this was the life he had always dreamed of.

The next morning, Li Baolong got up early, bought steamed buns and soy milk from a food stall, and ate as he walked. Twenty minutes later, he arrived at the school gate, watching the bustling crowds. He wandered around the campus for half an hour before finding the Computer Science department. After asking a teacher, he learned that he needed to pay the registration fee first and then receive a student ID and student ID. After a busy morning, Li Baolong officially became a freshman in the Computer Science Department, majoring in Computer Computing (Class of '95). Since Li Baolong didn't live on campus, he left the school in the afternoon. These few days of university life had gradually helped him adapt to the pace. There were fifty students in his class, mostly boys. Li Baolong ate lunch at school, and since he didn't have any major classes in the afternoon, he went home early to rest.

In the first few days of the new semester, Li Baolong began planning his future. He knew that computer science offered great prospects in the job market. While studying his major, he also looked for suitable opportunities to earn some money, hoping to gain work experience in advance. Seeing the senior students confidently discussing their jobs at the campus recruitment fair filled him with envy and longing. He hoped to successfully enter a prestigious company after graduation. He knew that university was an important transition to the workplace, and he wanted to lay a solid foundation for his future career in the coming years.

As the weekend sun cast its golden rays across the campus, Li Baolong happily finished his afternoon classes, hurriedly hailed a taxi, and sped towards the Qingnong Dance Hall he had been longing to visit. A whole week had passed since he'd last seen it, and his longing surged like a tidal wave in his heart.

As soon as the car stopped, Li Baolong rushed into the dance hall. Honghong saw him from afar, her eyes lighting up instantly, a captivating smile playing on her lips. She moved gracefully to greet him. Honghong was slender and elegant; a tight-fitting red dress accentuated her curves, her ample bosom almost bursting forth, perfectly showcasing her slender waist and full hips. Her long, ink-black hair was loosely tied up, a few strands falling beside her fair neck, adding a touch of languid charm. Her face was exquisite, her eyes like shimmering autumn water, her naturally red lips slightly upturned with a subtle smile. "I knew you'd come today," she said gently, handing him a bottle of orange juice, her voice as melodious as a nightingale's song. Li Baolong quickly accepted it, thanking her sincerely. Sister Honghong leaned closer, saying, "Don't be so polite with me," her breath sweet as orchids, "You'll have to work a little harder these next few nights. There will definitely be a lot of people tonight. I have a few pretty girls at my shop; they dance really well and are very popular." Li Baolong nodded vigorously and said, "Don't worry, I'll arrange it."

In a small private room at the nightclub, Li Baolong quickly ate a bowl of instant noodles and a sausage before immersing himself in his work. As night fell, the nightclub was brightly lit, and hundreds of people huddled together in the center of the hall, swaying their bodies to the lively music. The laughter of men and women, the scent of hormones, the sour smell of sweat, and the aroma of cigarettes and alcohol mingled and permeated the entire space.

Li Baolong weaved through the crowd, his busy figure never stopping. Until one in the morning, the noise gradually subsided, and Sister Honghong, dragging her tired but still elegant figure, slowly walked over. "You've worked hard today," she said softly, her eyes showing a hint of concern and tenderness. "Have a late-night snack with me tonight, then go back." Li Baolong looked at her, a bright smile spreading across his face: "That's a good idea, I'm actually a little hungry too."

The two arrived at the night market and found a corner to sit down, the air filled with the aroma of cooking. Sister Honghong skillfully greeted the stall owner, and soon several plates of kebabs and two bottles of beer were on the table.

Sister Hong took a sip of beer to moisten her throat and said, "Business at the dance hall has been quite stable these past few days. The customers have been very generous, and there haven't been any problems." Li Baolong listened attentively and then shared about his university life: "The school has been holding a lot of activities recently. I also attended a computer operation lecture, which I found very rewarding."

After they had eaten and drunk their fill, Sister Honghong gently took Li Baolong's hand, her eyes filled with a hint of expectation and coquettishness: "Take me home!" Li Baolong was startled; he knew Sister Honghong was about to throw a tantrum again.

When they arrived at the building where Honghong lived, Honghong tightly grasped his hand and smiled charmingly, "Why don't you come up and sit for a bit? You've never been to my house before." Seeing Li Baolong hesitate, Honghong said directly, "What are you afraid of? I'm not going to eat you." After saying that, she leaned weakly against Li Baolong, "Help me upstairs."

Li Baolong was inexperienced and had never seen anything like this before. The beautiful woman's coquettishness made him uneasy, but he couldn't bear to refuse. So, blushing, he agreed and helped Sister Honghong upstairs to go home.

As soon as they stepped into the house, the dim, ambiguous light inside shone on them. Sister Honghong gently kicked off her high heels, swayed gracefully to the sofa, and after sitting down, she patted the empty seat next to her, looking at Li Baolong with burning eyes: "Come, sit here."

Li Baolong sat down somewhat awkwardly, his heart pounding involuntarily. The scent of perfume emanating from Sister Honghong lingered in his nostrils, making him even more nervous. Sister Honghong, however, seemed oblivious, reaching out to gently brush away the stray hairs from Li Baolong's forehead, and said softly, "You must be exhausted from seeing you running around in the dance hall."

Li Baolong's throat tightened, and he shook his head: "I'm not tired, Sister Honghong, you've worked hard too." At this moment, his gaze inadvertently fell on the fullness of Sister Honghong's chest, the protruding bulge making his face instantly turn red, and he quickly looked away.

Seeing this, Sister Honghong found it amusing and deliberately moved closer, her breath brushing against Li Baolong's ear: "What, are you shy just from looking at your sister?" Li Baolong felt his ears burning and his body stiffen, not knowing what to do, his hands tightly gripping the hem of his clothes.

The temperature in the room seemed to rise sharply at that moment, and the ambiguous atmosphere, like an invisible net, tightly enveloped the two of them.

Li Baolong sat on the sofa, his mind in turmoil. He tried to calm himself down, took a deep breath, and slowly said, "Sister Honghong, it's getting late. I have an early class tomorrow, so I have to go back to school." As he spoke, he carefully removed Sister Honghong's hand from his arm, stood up, and looked at her with a mixture of determination and apology in his eyes.

Sister Honghong was slightly taken aback, and then a hint of disappointment appeared on her face, but she quickly regained her composure and said with a light laugh, "Alright, you really are a good student."

Li Baolong dared not look Honghong in the eye. He hurriedly walked to the door, changed his shoes, glanced back at Sister Honghong who was still sitting on the sofa, and said, "Sister Honghong, you should rest early. I'm leaving now." Then he opened the door and left as if he were escaping.

Walking down the street at night, Li Baolong let out a long sigh. He knew he had special feelings for Sister Honghong, but he was also clear that he wasn't ready to take things further. He needed time to think and face this complex emotion.
