Chapter 54 Merit of Doing Good Deeds

Li Baolong was at home that day, engrossed in using his mind control techniques to play with his cats and dogs, when his pager suddenly went off. He looked down and saw it was a message from Xiaoyu, saying to meet him at the entrance of the dance hall. Without a word, Li Baolong rushed downstairs, hailed a taxi, and sped off.

Upon arriving at the dance hall entrance, Li Baolong had just gotten out of the car when he saw Xiaoyu standing there alone. He quickly walked over and asked with concern, "Little Yu, why did you call me here so urgently? Is something wrong?" Xiaoyu raised her head slightly, a hint of relief in her eyes, and said, "Brother Baolong, my mother has been discharged from the hospital. The surgery went smoothly, and the doctor prescribed some medicine for her to rest at home. I'm going to register at school the day after tomorrow, so I won't be coming to work at the dance hall tomorrow."

Upon hearing this, Li Baolong immediately turned and walked to the bar. A short while later, he withdrew four hundred yuan and returned to hand it to Xiaoyu. Seeing this, Xiaoyu quickly waved her hand and refused, saying, "Brother Baolong, you've already helped our family so much. I really can't accept this money for my work. Consider it an voluntary favor; how can I take your money?" Li Baolong chuckled lightly, feigning seriousness, and said, "Silly little sister, you have to listen to me. This money is rightfully yours. Don't be polite with me; you'd be missing out if you didn't take it." With that, he burst into hearty laughter.

Then, he checked the time; it was midday, and the sun was shining brightly. He enthusiastically suggested, "Let's go, it's still early, let's grab a bite together." With that, he led Xiaoyu to a steaming hot pot restaurant nearby. Inside, Li Baolong warmly greeted Xiaoyu, "Little Yu, you can eat as much as you want today, don't hold back!" He then ordered two more portions of meat. Soon, the hot pot broth was bubbling and fragrant. Perhaps because she had worked hard since childhood, Xiaoyu had a large appetite; she ate with relish, her plump figure looking even more adorable in the steaming heat.

After their meal, Li Baolong took Xiaoyu by taxi to the clothing market. Once inside, he dragged Xiaoyu around, buying her two elegant outfits. Xiaoyu initially refused, but Li Baolong, feigning anger, deliberately put on a stern face. Xiaoyu, somewhat embarrassed, reluctantly accepted. Looking at Xiaoyu, Li Baolong said earnestly, "Little Xiaoyu, you're about to enter university. Wearing these new clothes and shoes is like embarking on a brand new journey in life. Leave the hardships of the past behind, forge ahead bravely, and don't look back."

Upon hearing this, Xiaoyu's eyes instantly reddened, and tears streamed down her face like a broken string of pearls. She buried her face in Li Baolong's arms, sobbing uncontrollably. Li Baolong gently patted her back and tenderly comforted her for a while before Xiaoyu's emotions gradually calmed down.

After Xiaoyu put on her new clothes, her entire demeanor changed instantly, appearing much more mature and poised. She wore a simple white fitted t-shirt that perfectly accentuated her figure, paired with blue jeans and black casual leather shoes. Her perfect figure was on full display, especially her full breasts and rounded hips, which were particularly eye-catching and drew admiring glances. Seeing this, Li Baolong thoughtfully draped a trench coat over Xiaoyu's shoulders, and then the two of them left the clothing market in a taxi, completely satisfied.

The night at the dance hall, perhaps Xiaoyu's last night working there, was filled with the tireless activity of her figure. Like a spinning top, she spun around, working even harder than usual. Clutching a tray tightly, she skillfully navigated the crowd, delivering drinks steadily to each table. She meticulously wiped every table, leaving no corner untouched, her focused expression a poignant farewell to the place where she had worked for so long. Li Baolong stood quietly to the side, gazing silently at Xiaoyu's busy figure. His eyes were filled with pity and tenderness, and he didn't stop her. He knew that Xiaoyu needed this busyness to release her complex emotions—perhaps a reluctance to leave her dance hall job, or perhaps a mixture of anticipation and anxiety about her upcoming university life.

As the last guest left, the lights in the dance hall gradually dimmed. Xiaoyu and Li Baolong walked out of the dance hall side by side, the night breeze brushing their faces, carrying a slight chill. Li Baolong said softly to Xiaoyu, "Go back and get some rest. I'll take you to school tomorrow." Xiaoyu nodded slightly, her eyes sparkling with gratitude and dependence.

The next day at noon, the sun shone brightly. Li Baolong led Xiaoyu into a cozy restaurant and ordered a table full of her favorite dishes. They sat facing each other, saying little, simply enjoying the quiet moment. After the meal, they hailed a taxi and headed towards the Information Engineering College in Longquanyi District.

Throughout the journey, Xiaoyu gazed at the receding scenery outside the window, her eyes revealing a mixture of anticipation and confusion. Li Baolong's thoughts, however, were somewhat scattered. He looked out the car window, pondering to himself what was so special about this school that would make Xiaoyu choose it to begin her university life, since, in his eyes, the school seemed utterly unremarkable.

The taxi slowly came to a stop, and the school gate came into view. Li Baolong helped Xiaoyu take her luggage and stood at the gate, suddenly feeling a little lost. Just as he turned to leave, Xiaoyu's urgent voice rang out behind him: "Brother Baolong!" He turned around and saw Xiaoyu rushing into his arms, tears welling up in her eyes, her voice choked with sobs: "You have to come see me in the future, okay? If I page you, you have to answer me." Li Baolong's heart felt like it had been struck by something. He gently raised his hand and tenderly stroked Xiaoyu's head, softly comforting her: "Don't worry, you can contact me anytime when I'm not busy. But your most important task now is to study hard, find a good job after graduation, and start your own wonderful life."
