Chapter 134 Generous Donation 2

Xiaoru sat in the car, her eyes still a little red. She said to Li Baolong, "Baolong, seeing those poor children just now really hurt my heart. Your righteous act today makes me realize that my responsibilities are even greater in the future. China is such a big country, and there are countless children waiting for help."

Li Baolong nodded slightly and said firmly, "Don't worry, I'll just focus on making money. You can help me spend the money on these children in need. Even if it's just buying them a piece of clothing, it will warm their young hearts." Xiaoru nodded heavily and replied, "Okay, I understand. I will definitely do this wholeheartedly."

No sooner had he finished speaking than Li Baolong's phone rang. He answered and heard it was Dean Zhao calling, his voice brimming with excitement: "Li Baolong, the leadership has agreed! They say they'd like to meet with you to discuss the specifics of the plan."

Upon hearing this, Li Baolong perked up and quickly said, "Dean Zhao, I'll pick you up tomorrow morning, and we'll go to the leader's office together for a good chat." Dean Zhao replied repeatedly, "Okay, okay."

After hanging up the phone, Li Baolong pondered his donation plan. He intended to donate all of the 200 million yuan in profits his Special Economic Zone Longteng Investment Company had earned. These days, probably only Li Baolong could make such a large donation. But he didn't care; as long as it helped those children, he felt it was worth it.

Li Baolong came to Xiaoru's house, which Xiaoru had tidied up meticulously. Xiaoru made Li Baolong a cup of tea, and after taking a sip, Li Baolong said, "Xiaoru, I'm planning to set up a welfare fund with several hundred million yuan of Chinese currency every year, specifically to help children from impoverished families and families suffering because their children are sick. I'd like you to manage this fund. Do you think you can handle it?"

After listening, Xiaoru lowered her head and pondered for a while, then raised her head and said, "Baolong, don't worry, I will definitely do my best to do this well."

Li Baolong nodded and said, "Okay, I trust your character. When you recruit some college students, make sure they are hardworking and let them find children who need help. It will also be a good opportunity for these college students to get some experience. We'll call this activity the 'Sending Warmth Activity.' Tomorrow I'll meet with the city leaders and try to get a spot in a welfare institution. That way, it will be easier to get things done in the future, and we can do good deeds in a legitimate way."

After saying that, Li Baolong got up to leave. Xiaoru really wanted him to stay, but Li Baolong was an impatient person. He just patted Xiaoru's head lightly and strode out the door. Xiaoru stood at the door, watching his departing figure, feeling a mix of emotions. She felt a great sense of responsibility for this new task, but she was also a little reluctant to see Li Baolong leave like that.

Early in the morning, Li Baolong woke up to find that Xiaoyu had already prepared breakfast perfectly. He quickly ate a few bites and then drove off to Dean Zhao's place.

Upon arrival, under Dean Zhao's guidance, the two went together to the Civil Affairs Bureau. As soon as they entered, Director Huang Youmin, wearing glasses, came to greet them. Director Huang was very enthusiastic, immediately shaking Li Baolong's hand tightly and exchanging pleasantries.

After everyone was seated, Li Baolong got straight to the point and said to Director Huang, "Director, I'm thinking of setting up a charity fund of 200 million RMB specifically to help impoverished children and families. In addition, I'll donate another 10 million RMB to the Civil Affairs Bureau to help those in need as well."

This left Director Huang stunned, frozen in place. He had initially thought it was just a matter of ten million, never imagining it would be such a huge sum as two hundred million. After regaining his composure, Director Huang hurriedly said, "Mr. Li Baolong, I need to report this to the mayor immediately." With that, he went to make a phone call.

Ten minutes later, Director Huang returned and informed him, "Mayor Liu will be here soon. You can tell the mayor whatever you need." Li Baolong nodded slightly.

A moment later, two people entered. Director Huang quickly stood up to introduce them: "Mr. Li Baolong, this is Mayor Liu Xiaojun, and this is Secretary-General Zhang Ping." Li Baolong also quickly stood up and shook hands with each of them.

Li Baolong explained his ideas in detail again, especially mentioning the establishment of a private foundation to invest 200 million yuan to help impoverished children. Mayor Liu listened and nodded repeatedly, clearly seeing such a large donation for the first time.

Afterwards, Li Baolong asked Director Huang for the Civil Affairs Bureau's account number and immediately called Wenwen from the Special Economic Zone Longteng Company: "Wenwen, transfer ten million yuan to the Rongcheng Civil Affairs Bureau's account, account number XXX." After hanging up, he picked up his teacup and took a sip.

Next, Li Baolong discussed the merger of the orphanages with Mayor Liu. His foundation planned to invest 30 million yuan to build a new orphanage, and the location didn't need to be too particular, just convenient transportation would suffice. Mayor Liu immediately agreed and said that a meeting would be held the next day to discuss the site selection.

Not long after, the finance director of the Civil Affairs Bureau rushed over, saying that a sum of ten million yuan had been deposited into the account. Mayor Liu, Director Huang, and Secretary-General Zhang Ping all shook hands with Li Baolong excitedly. Why? Because he had actually taken out real money, showing his sincerity and clearly wanting to do good deeds.

After exchanging phone numbers with Mayor Liu, Li Baolong said goodbye to the other leaders. He drove to a mobile phone store, picked out ten Motorola phones, and then went home.

After arriving home, he called Xiaoru, Xiaoyu, and Xiaoxing, and they went to a nearby restaurant together. Li Baolong handed them his cell phone, saying, "Go and activate your numbers yourselves, it'll be easier to contact each other later." Xiaoru and Xiaoyu said in unison, "Thank you, Brother Bao."
