Chapter 17, "The Heart of Ashes," premieres (1/2)

In the days that followed, Xiao He spent all his time on the film set.

The film crew had a heavy shooting schedule, and the inn was just their first stop. In addition, the budget was very tight, so the filming schedule was very tight.

Even though they were pressed for time, Lin Yipeng was very strict and insisted on making the filming the best it could be. Even though Xiao He's boning knife skills were already very proficient, he still developed tenosynovitis under Lin Yipeng's abnormal demands.

Pu Rong, on the other hand, had an even worse time. He had the most and most complex action scenes, and he basically had to be suspended by wires, so he was like a flying acrobat on set every day.

Xiao He was speechless just looking at it.

Before they knew it, the premiere of "The Burning Heart" arrived. At noon, Xiao He sent out the crew's posters and promotional slogans as Xiao Song had instructed, and unsurprisingly, he received zero likes and zero comments.

Looking at his few fans, which could be counted on both hands, Xiao He shrugged indifferently.

All I can say is that he has done his best. Whether the show is a hit or a flop is not really his concern.

After receiving a thank-you message from Xiao Song on his phone, Xiao He refreshed his account again and successfully received a like from the official account of "Burning Heart".

It wasn't too awkward.

At 8 p.m. that evening, "The Burning Heart" officially premiered on Tencent Video.

Xiao He opened the app and took a look, and was surprised to find that there were still quite a few viewers watching the show. Judging from the comments, it seemed that the male lead, Zhao Shuyu, had a bit of a following, and his fans were there specifically to support him.

However, after watching only the first episode, Xiao He lost much of his interest.

The plot is fairly standard, conforming to the current trend of romance in every profession; it's a very straightforward crime-romance drama. The female lead is a rookie police officer, and the male lead is a seasoned detective captain. They get to know each other while solving cases, develop feelings for one another, and eventually get together.

The suspense logic is basically straightforward, with no real suspense and predictable plot points. The two actors are decent-looking and their acting isn't terrible, but it's just good enough for them to deliver their lines with emotion, making it easy for the audience to stay engaged.

Xiao He felt it was a fairly standard web series, neither good nor bad, with no major highlights. If the subsequent plot didn't offer anything special, it would only have limited popularity, and the outcome would be predictable.

However, this doesn't matter much to him anymore. The director, producers, and the two lead actors are more concerned about these things. As a minor supporting actor, he basically has no need to care.

Xiao He believed his guess was pretty accurate. After turning off the show, he never paid attention to its aftermath again, instead focusing all his attention on the filming of "The Thief Catcher".

Little did he know that halfway through the series, an edited video quietly appeared on Bilibili and spread at an alarming rate, quickly becoming one of Bilibili's most popular videos!
