Chapter 2 doesn't seem like acting at all... (1/2)

"Officer, he really is one of our actors. We were just filming a scene!"

In the break room, the director, with a bitter face, explained to the police officers in front of him, his heart filled with distress.

What kind of nonsense is this?!

They were just filming a movie, how did they almost end up in jail?

Xiao He also looked distressed.

Goodness, could this be considered a case of "Little Black" failing halfway through his entrepreneurial journey?

"Look, even this chainsaw is fake—" Xiao He picked up the chainsaw, ready to prove himself, but as the chainsaw started up with a buzzing sound, all the police officers took a big step back, their right hands instinctively going to their waists, watching Xiao He warily: "Put it down! Don't move!"

Xiao He: "Uh—"

Seeing the police officers' movements as if they were about to draw their guns, Xiao He quickly rubbed his arm back and forth with a chainsaw, saying, "See, I won't get hurt."

The chainsaw's teeth were soft, so even if it touched an arm, it wouldn't cause any harm. The police officers breathed a sigh of relief. Officer Zhang, who was in charge, picked it up and examined it. Then he looked at Meng Lulu, who was still crying, and asked, "Why did you scare her like this?"

Meng Lulu has a round face and looks like a sweet and well-behaved girl next door, but now she can't stop crying, which makes people wonder.

"Hey, doesn't this just prove that Xiao Xiao is a good actress? Don't you think so, Lulu?" The director frantically winked at Meng Lulu.

Officer Zhang patted the director on the shoulder, his voice stern: "Let the young lady speak for herself, what are you doing?"

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I was too impatient—" the director could only continue apologizing.

Fortunately, perhaps because of the presence of the police, Meng Lulu, who felt extremely safe, miraculously calmed down a lot. Then, she looked at the police officers apologetically and said in a muffled voice, "I'm sorry, we were just filming. I was also frightened just now and lost control of my emotions, which led to the misunderstanding. I'm really sorry."

Just then, the police officer who had confirmed Xiao He's situation came in and nodded to Officer Zhang: "This student, Xiao, is indeed a student at Shanghai University. There's nothing wrong with him."

“A student from Shanghai University…” Officer Zhang looked Xiao He up and down with a complicated expression, seemingly comparing the face to the wanted criminal image in his mind. Then he patted Xiao He’s shoulder earnestly, “Do your best in filming.”

Xiao He: "...Okay, thank you, Officer Zhang."

Although he always felt that Officer Zhang's words had a hidden meaning.

Officer Zhang, however, was thinking that this guy was inexplicably suspicious, especially his eyes. The moment their eyes met, the veteran officer's alarm bells went off incessantly.

But they're students at Shanghai University! Their background check was spotless; they had no criminal record.

This guy is quite handsome, but why are his eyes...?

It's said that the eyes are the windows to the soul, and college students, not yet entering society, usually have very clear eyes. But Xiao He's eyes... carried the indifference and bloodlust unique to murderers, devoid of any warmth.

Officer Zhang had only seen that look in his eyes once, more than ten years ago.

He was a deranged killer who murdered seven people more than ten years ago, creating a nationally sensational series of dismemberment cases. Officer Zhang was fortunate enough to participate in the investigation of that case and eventually witnessed the guy being shot and killed by the police.

That guy had the same look in his eyes before he died—pure evil and murderous intent, arrogant and indifferent to everything, including his own life.

Even after Officer Zhang came into contact with other murderers, he never saw that look in their eyes again.

But now... it's happening to a student.

Officer Zhang felt conflicted. He kept the name "Xiao He" in mind, intending to investigate it thoroughly when he got back. Just as he turned to leave, Meng Lulu called out to him again: "Um, Officer Zhang, is there anything else I can ask you?"

"Um?"

Officer Zhang turned around in confusion, and the director, who had just breathed a sigh of relief, felt his heart leap into his throat again—

My dear aunt, please stop meddling!

“We’re about to continue filming… Um, could you please have one of you stay a little longer? I feel safer with you guys around.” Meng Lulu clasped her hands together. “Please, just for about twenty minutes.”

Everyone: "..."

Xiao He: "..."
