After standing outside for an unknown amount of time, Jiang Cheng's mind finally cleared, and he walked into the internet cafe, feeling a chill all over his body.
When he was enveloped in warm air, Jiang Cheng realized that his hoodie was completely soaked through by the cold air.
He walked back to his seat, bringing with him a chill, and Zhu Yuan next to him couldn't help but shiver.
A baby-faced boy looked up and asked him, "Why did it take you so long to get back?"
"I stood outside for a while," Jiang Cheng said as he sat down.
The baby-faced boy remained noncommittal, only noticing that Jiang Cheng seemed even colder than before he left.
Zhu Yuan spoke up at the right moment: "Brother Jiang, Brother Cheng, can you two carry me when you play? We'll be playing in a three-man squad. Don't worry, I definitely won't hold you back."
It turned out that the baby-faced boy was Jiang Shuyu, who had returned to Yulin City for winter vacation.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Shuyu glanced at Jiang Cheng and said, "If he agrees, I have no objection."
Zhu Yuan asked tentatively, "Brother Cheng?"
Jiang Cheng nodded expressionlessly.
Zhu Yuan was overjoyed and immediately added Jiang Shuyu's account as a friend, asking him to invite Jiang Shuyu to join the team.
After a few seconds of matching, the three immediately entered the game.
As the fight went on, Zhu Yuan realized that the person on the other side had somehow offended Jiang Cheng, who was now fighting fiercely and relentlessly, taking heads as easily as cutting melons and vegetables.
The game was filled with the voiceover of Jiang Cheng's character.
Taking advantage of the brief moment between death, Zhu Yuan glanced at Jiang Cheng, who was silently typing on the keyboard with a cold face, his eyes terrifyingly calm, like an emotionless killing machine.
Soon, the opposing team was completely overwhelmed, their mentality collapsed, and they immediately surrendered.
Until the end of the game, Zhu Yuan felt that apart from feeding a few kills to the opposing team, he had done nothing else and had simply coasted through the game.
He took off his headphones and looked at Jiang Cheng. "Brother Cheng, why are you so angry? Who upset you?"
Jiang Cheng leaned back in his chair and didn't say anything.
Zhu Yuan said with an even more Versailles-like tone, "Your murderous intent is too strong, making my gaming experience completely ruined."
"Then you play by yourself?" Jiang Shuyu chuckled, raising an eyebrow. "It'll definitely be a great gaming experience."
"No, no, no, no." Zhu Yuan chuckled, with a hint of flattery, "I still need my brother Cheng and my brother Jiang to take care of me."
“It’s mainly because of your brother Cheng.” Jiang Shuyu glanced at Jiang Cheng.
Zhu Yuan also looked at Jiang Cheng. He glanced at Jiang Cheng's face and felt that his expression was somewhat gloomy, as if he was holding back some emotions.
Everything was fine before I went out.
"Shall we strike while the iron is hot and start another game?" Zhu Yuan asked.
Jiang Shuyu and Jiang Cheng nodded and were about to put on their headphones when the skinny internet cafe manager at the front desk came over and handed them a bag.
"Brother Cheng, here's the takeout you ordered." He placed the bag in front of Jiang Cheng.
"Takeout?" Zhu Yuan was taken aback and asked Jiang Cheng, "When did you order takeout?"
Jiang Cheng frowned and shook his head. "I didn't order it."
"You didn't order this?" The skinny guy picked up the bag on the table again, tore off the note on it and looked at it. "Big Fish Internet Cafe, recipient Jiang Cheng, that's right."
“It wasn’t me,” Jiang Cheng said.
The skinny guy let out a "huh," and Zhu Yuan immediately said, "There might be someone with the same name. Take it back to the front desk and see if anyone comes to pick it up later."
The skinny guy gave an "oh" and was about to turn around when a cell phone notification sounded on the table.
Jiang Cheng picked it up, tapped the screen, and saw the cat avatar flashing.
"I ordered you some pear soup. It shows as delivered on my end. Did you receive it?"
His gaze paused for a moment, then he immediately looked at the skinny bamboo pole and called out to him, "Wait a minute, it's mine."
The skinny guy was stunned and before he could react, Jiang Cheng had already snatched the bag from his hand.
Zhu Yuan and Jiang Shuyu were both taken aback when they saw his actions.
Jiang Cheng threw the earphones on the table, picked up the bag, and stood up, his coldness completely melting away.
He looked at the two of them and said, "I'm not fighting anymore, you two go first."
Zhu Yuan: "..."
Judging from Cheng-ge's state, it's obvious who sent it.
Zhu Yuan suddenly realized that with this bowl of pear soup, no matter how bad his cold was, his brother Cheng could work out all night again.
-
In the taxi on the other side, Pei Xi saw Jiang Cheng's reply and felt relieved.
The internet cafe was crowded and noisy, and she was a little worried that the takeout wouldn't reach Jiang Cheng.
Hearing that he had received it, Pei Xi felt relieved.
Jiang Cheng has a cold, and the weather is so cold, so drinking some hot and sweet snow pear and white fungus soup is the best thing for him.
They were caught in a traffic jam, and even though their food delivery had arrived, they still hadn't gotten home.
Five or six minutes later, the taxi finally left the most congested section of the road, and they arrived at the entrance of the residential area.
The three of them got out of the car and walked to the Pei family's door. Suddenly, Lu Langxuan said, "Pei Zhi, I suddenly remembered that my mother has something else to give you. Why don't you come with me to my house to get it?"
Pei Zhi paused for a moment, then nodded. "Okay."
He then looked at Pei Xi and said, "You go inside first, I'll be back in a bit."
Pei Xi hummed in agreement and turned to enter the courtyard.
Lu Langxuan watched Pei Xi's figure disappear, walked a few steps with Pei Zhi, and then said, "Pei Zhi, I think you should pay attention to what kind of friends Pei Xi makes at school."
Pei Zhi was taken aback before realizing that Lu Langxuan had deliberately sent Pei Xi away, his true intentions were not what they seemed.
"What do you mean?" he asked, frowning.
Lu Langxuan recounted what had just happened to Pei Zhi.
His eyes showed worry. "I'm afraid she'll be led astray by those shady characters, especially since she's a naive girl who's been well protected since childhood. She's easily deceived. You'd better pay more attention to her social circle and tell her who she should befriend and who she shouldn't."
