He just watched her quietly, as if...not surprised at all.
No, I wasn't just not surprised, I wasn't even angry.
Pei Xi frowned subconsciously. Strange, really strange.
Is this still her brother?
Pei Xi sat on the sofa next to Pei Zhi, tilting her head to look at him up close.
"What's wrong?" Pei Zhi asked.
"Brother, what's my birthday?" Pei Xi suddenly asked.
Pei Zhi was taken aback, then blurted out, "June 9th."
Pei Xi breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank goodness, it's definitely my brother."
Pei Zhi: "..."
"Why didn't you..." Pei Xi was about to speak when Pei Zhi interrupted her, "What did you say to him?"
Pei Xi paused, a hint of hesitation flashing across his face. After thinking for a while, his eyes became firm again, as if he had made a decision.
She tugged at Pei Zhi's sleeve and whispered, "Brother, let's go to Peking University together, okay?"
Pei Zhi remained silent.
His usual nonchalant expression vanished instantly, replaced by a calm demeanor and a deep, serious look.
Pei Xi looked into his eyes, and her heart skipped a beat for no reason.
This was a side of Pei Zhi that she rarely saw.
Pei Xi unconsciously tightened her grip on his sleeve.
After a moment, Pei Zhi spoke, his tone serious to the point of being stern: "Pei Xi, I only have one question for you, did he suggest that you go?"
Pei Xi was stunned.
Pei Zhi's tone made it sound as if he knew everything.
Before she could think it through, she immediately shook her head at him and denied it, saying, "No, I said it."
Pei Zhi's expression softened instantly.
"You really are..." He curled the corners of his lips and sighed softly.
To be honest, even though he had already made up for himself, he still felt inexplicably uneasy.
Even though Pei Xi brought it up herself, he always felt that she was forcing him for someone else's sake.
Well... although, forcing yourself to improve your score is also a form of forcing yourself.
Pei Zhi couldn't stand himself anymore. He nodded quickly and said, "Okay, let's go together."
Pei Xi was taken aback. She looked at Pei Zhi quietly and understood the meaning in his eyes. Everything was understood without words.
After a moment of silence, Pei Zhi reached out and ruffled her hair, reverting to his previous nonchalant demeanor. "If you want to get into Peking University, you'll have to work harder from now on. If there's anything you don't know, just ask your brother. I can do almost anything that others can."
"Don't worry, I'll have more than enough to answer your questions."
