Jiang Cheng went back to Cuihe.
His steps were steady the whole way, and his expression remained consistently calm. However, when he took out his key to open the door, he had to insert it several times before he could get it into the lock.
After opening the door, he went straight into the room without even taking off his shoes.
He had very few belongings; the only luggage he needed to pack was a few sets of clothes.
Jiang Cheng quickly packed the clothes into his suitcase, then picked through the books on the table, taking a few of the more important ones and putting them all into the suitcase.
He tidied everything up in an orderly manner, taking only a dozen minutes in total.
He needed to return the keys to the house and get his deposit back, so he messaged the landlord saying he would leave the keys on the door frame and ask the landlord to come and inspect the property later.
I'll refund whatever amount of the deposit I can, but it doesn't matter if I don't get it back at all.
After doing all this, he put his phone aside, sat on the edge of the bed, and picked up the box that was on the bedside table.
Then he slowly opened the lid.
Originally, there was only one item in the box, but a year has passed and there are many more items inside.
Jiang Cheng took them out one by one.
The first one is a receipt from a hot pot restaurant. Over time, the ink on it has become somewhat blurred.
The second item was a painting, with gentle and delicate brushstrokes and a hazy watercolor effect, depicting his profile with his eyes lowered.
The third item is the movie tickets. There are four in total: two complete tickets and two ticket stubs.
The fourth item was a paper birthday hat with a little bit of oil stain on the edge.
The last item was a pair of gloves.
It's pink, very small, and embroidered with snowflake patterns; it's designed for little girls.
Jiang Cheng held the glove in his palm and gently rubbed it with his fingertips, feeling a soft and warm sensation on his skin.
His hands were large, and the gloves were the size of a child's, so he couldn't fit them in at all, but he still clearly remembered the warm feeling when he put his hands in them.
Jiang Cheng looked down, momentarily lost in thought.
Then he got up, found a bag, and carefully and solemnly put all the items inside.
After packing, he went into the kitchen, took out the two teacups with panda prints from the cupboard, and gently placed them into the packaging box.
He packed everything into his large black bag, zipped it up, and unconsciously hugged it to his chest as if he were holding some precious treasure.
He gripped the cloth tightly with his knuckles, his eyes deep and unfathomable, brimming with intense emotions.
These things were an unexpected bonus for him.
He is content.
He should be very content.
After a while, he picked up his phone, opened WeChat, searched for something for a bit, and then sent a message.
-
The Pei family.
Pei Zhizheng lay leisurely on the sofa, his legs in the air, looking as relaxed as could be.
The college entrance exam is finally over, and there are still almost two months before school starts. He can relax however he wants.
Just thinking about it is awesome.
He was slouching and typing away in the group chat, his fingers flying across the keyboard.
Qin Yufan: "Brothers, I've checked the answers. I feel like you guys might have to come back to No. 1 High School to see me sometime."
Tong Kai: "?"
Tong Kai: "Are you really that narrow-minded? Wouldn't it be better to enjoy yourself for a while before you get results?"
Qin Yufan: "I don't want to deceive myself."
Tong Kai: "..."
Qin Yufan: "@Shi, Brother Chen, how are you? If we could keep each other company, it wouldn't be so lonely."
Shi Chen: "?"
Shi Chen: "Da Fan, it's not that I don't consider you a brother, but I really can't be with you this time."
Pei Zhi: "It seems our young master Shi is full of confidence."
Shi Chen: "He can't compare to our top student Pei."
Tong Kai: "Stop talking, or Da Fan will cry."
Qin Yufan: "..."
Pei Zhi smiled as he read Tong Kai's words. Just as he was about to type a message to comfort Qin Yufan, a message suddenly popped up at the top of the screen.
It's a new friend request.
The profile picture looks familiar.
Pei Zhi clicked on the link and stared at the four large characters "I am Jiang Cheng" in the verification message. He froze for a moment, turned over, and almost fell off the sofa.
He steadied himself using both hands and feet, stared at his phone screen, hesitated for two seconds, and then tapped "accept".
A message immediately came from the other end: "Can you come out for a bit? I need your help."
