The air fell silent for several seconds.
Jiang Cheng subconsciously looked at Pei Zhi, but before he could make a move, a warm body had already snuggled into his arms.
Jiang Cheng raised his hands as if by reflex, his whole body frozen in place.
Pei Zhi, who witnessed the whole thing: "..."
Completely oblivious to the awkward atmosphere, Pei Xi wrapped her arms around Jiang Cheng's waist and pulled him close.
She rested her face against his chest, even closing her eyes comfortably.
Jiang Cheng's raised arm had frozen.
Reason told him he should push her away, because the person in his arms was a drunkard who didn't know what he was doing.
But he was conscious.
Pei Xi even rubbed her cheek against his chest, and a gust of wind blew the faint fragrance of her hair to his nose. Jiang Cheng suddenly felt his mind go blank, as if he were enveloped by something and lost his ability to think.
...He felt like he wasn't so clear-headed anymore.
Pei Xi suddenly looked up, her voice tinged with grievance: "Why aren't you hugging me?"
Pei Zhi, who was being ignored, was speechless.
Jiang Cheng looked innocently at Pei Zhi and explained in a low voice, "She's drunk and unconscious."
Pei Zhishen sighed, turned his face away, and decided to avoid seeing it altogether.
Jiang Cheng paused, lowered one arm, and symbolically patted her back twice.
Fortunately, Pei Xi wasn't strict. Feeling the touch on her back, she tightened her arms in satisfaction.
Pei Zhi looked at the navigation on his phone; the car was still two kilometers away. He reminded them, "Six more minutes..."
The drunkard in Jiang Cheng's arms suddenly spoke up, interrupting him: "That afternoon, in the studio, did you try to kiss me?"
Pei Zhi immediately raised his head: "?!"
Jiang Cheng: "......"
Meeting Pei Zhi's gaze, he moved his lips, subconsciously wanting to explain, but suddenly realized that there seemed to be no way to deny it.
Even if Pei Zhi was stupid, she could see the meaning behind his hesitation. She put her hands on her hips and took a few deep breaths to calm herself down.
Just then, Pei Xi suddenly stood on tiptoe and whispered in Jiang Cheng's ear, "I'll tell you a secret."
Jiang Cheng looked down at her. "Hmm?"
"Actually, I really wanted to kiss you that day. If Brother Jiang hadn't suddenly barged in, I..."
Pei Zhi: "????!!!!!"
Jiang Cheng hurriedly covered her mouth, "...Don't say anything, Pei Xi."
Pei Xi let out two soft sobs, her cheeks squeezing out of shape by Jiang Cheng's hands, making her look like a wronged little bun.
Jiang Cheng quickly loosened his grip, but did not remove his hand.
He was afraid that if he let go, she would say something shocking again.
Pei Xi wasn't behaving herself; her lips kept brushing against his palm, the gentle, warm touch causing a thin layer of sweat to immediately break out on his back.
"Why are you covering me?" Pei Xi's voice was muffled, her eyes bright and aggrieved.
Jiang Cheng closed his eyes tightly, lowered his head and coaxed her softly, "Then I'll let you go, but don't say anything."
Pei Xi nodded vigorously.
"I'll be good," she promised in a muffled voice in his palm.
"Okay." Jiang Cheng slowly released his hand.
Pei Xi was finally happy after the seal was broken, and she exclaimed joyfully:
"So, can I kiss you?"
Jiang Cheng: "......"
Pei Zhi: "............................."
