That evening, after Shi Chen left, Pei Zhi took a shower and, leaning against the bed, made a video call to Pei Xi.
The phone rang for only a few seconds before it was answered.
"What are you doing..."
Before Pei Zhi could finish speaking, an unexpected face suddenly appeared on the screen.
Then the people on both sides of the camera simultaneously frowned.
"Why is it you?" Pei Zhi asked.
Jiang Cheng replied calmly, "We were out shopping. She went to the restroom, and I was holding her phone."
Pei Zhi responded with an "oh".
He looked around and realized he was indeed in a shopping mall, with pedestrians walking around him from time to time.
"Is there something you need?" Jiang Cheng asked when he saw that he didn't speak.
Pei Zhi was taken aback. Actually, he had nothing to do; he just wanted to see what Pei Xi was doing.
Just as he was about to press the hang-up button, a thought suddenly struck him, and he remembered what Shi Chen had said that afternoon.
So he withdrew his thumb and stared at the phone screen.
After a two-second silence, neither of them spoke, and they just stared at each other across the screen.
Until Jiang Cheng slowly raised one of his eyebrows.
"Are you alright?" he asked calmly.
Pei Zhi scratched his head, and after a long pause, asked, "Are you with my sister?"
Jiang Cheng nodded and hummed in agreement.
Then wait for the next installment.
Pei Zhi cleared his throat, frowned, and said, "So this is how you treat me? You didn't even address me?"
Jiang Cheng raised an eyebrow slightly. "What's your name?"
Pei Zhi clicked his tongue. "When you're with my sister, you have to call me 'brother' along with her."
After he finished speaking, he stopped, and just as he was bracing himself to see Jiang Cheng's reluctant expression, he didn't expect Jiang Cheng to only say "oh".
Then, without the slightest hesitation, he said to the camera, "Brother Pei Zhi."
There was even a slight smile on his face.
Pei Zhi: "..."
He was stunned.
I was completely stunned.
Seeing that he didn't speak, Jiang Cheng raised an eyebrow and asked with a smile, "Are you satisfied now?"
Then the screen went completely black.
Pei Zhi didn't answer anything and immediately hung up the video call.
He slammed his phone onto the blanket, then knelt on the bed with his butt sticking up, burying his head in the pillow, and yelled at the air, "Aaaaaah, Pei Zhi, are you an idiot?!"
Why did he think that doing this would be taking advantage of Jiang Cheng?
Judging from Jiang Cheng's expression, he was clearly enjoying himself immensely! What was he possibly losing out on?!
He's got his entire older sister with him!
He's the one who's all alone in his room!
Pei Zhi sat up straight and punched the pillow a few times. It's all that Shi Chen's fault!
If he ever listens to Shi Chen again, he'll be a complete idiot!
Meanwhile, in the mall, Pei Xi came out of the restroom and happened to see Jiang Cheng holding her phone. She leaned over and asked, "Did someone call me?"
Jiang Cheng nodded, handed her the phone, and answered truthfully, "It's Pei Zhi, so I answered it for you."
After all, they're not outsiders.
Pei Xi said "Oh," glanced at the call duration, and asked, "What did my brother say to you?"
Jiang Cheng grunted and calmly stated, "He told me to call him 'brother'."
Pei Xi: "...?"
She smiled helplessly, shook her head, and said, "He's just joking, don't mind him."
“I called,” Jiang Cheng suddenly said.
Pei Xi: "?"
Then Jiang Cheng smiled, raised his hand to pat her head, and said to her, "It's okay, you'll have to call me sooner or later."
Pei Xi: "??"
Jiang Cheng didn't say anything more, he just looked at her with a smile.
Meeting his intense gaze, Pei Xi turned his face away, coughed lightly, and said somewhat embarrassedly, "I don't understand what you mean."
"It's okay, I understand." Jiang Cheng tucked her stray hairs behind her ear, his tone extremely gentle. "I promise you, from now on, I will never let you take the initiative again."
"For example?" Pei Xi opened his eyes wide.
“For example…” Jiang Cheng suddenly lowered his head, leaned close to her ear, and whispered in a voice that only the two of them could hear, “My cold is better now, so we can go back quickly.”
