Chapter 17 I Know Who You Like

Pei Xi had just stepped out of the internet cafe when he received a message from Shen Miaoyi.

She was told that Pei Zhi and Shi Chen were eating ice cream at a dessert shop, and that she should hurry over there too.

When she arrived, she saw Pei Zhi and Shi Chen sitting at the entrance of the dessert shop. The two had just finished playing ball, and their sweaty hair was being pulled in all directions. They were sitting in a carefree manner, as if they had no bones and could almost lie down on the chairs, eating ice cream one bite after another.

Even so, it doesn't diminish its status as a beautiful sight along the main road.

Several young girls buying desserts at the window were still peeking out from time to time, laughing and whispering to each other.

Pei Xi sighed at the woman's misfortune, but was also relieved that Pei Zhi had always maintained a moral bottom line.

Otherwise, with his looks, if he wanted to be a scumbag, he could easily ruin a large number of infatuated girls.

Pei Xi walked over and sat down next to Pei Zhi, teasingly asking with a smile, "What wind blew you two here today?"

Pei Zhi raised his chin. "I just happened to be passing by after playing ball. I didn't get to eat that bowl last time. Grandma went to so much trouble to make it for us, so I had to make it up to her."

The last time was the time we got into a fight.

The desserts for several people had just been served, and before they even had a chance to take a bite, they rushed off to the battlefield.

It's all wasted.

"I see."

Pei Xi nodded, agreeing with Pei Zhi's point.

Before she could speak, Pei Zhi seemed to have suddenly noticed something and abruptly moved closer to her.

He sniffed like a dog, taking a deep sniff of her, and frowned, asking, "What's that smell on you?"

Pei Xi was startled.

She raised her arm, pulled up a section of her sleeve, and smelled it, discovering a faint smell of smoke.

It must have gotten there while I was at an internet cafe.

So she told Pei Zhi about going to the internet cafe.

Of course, she didn't mention encountering Jiang Cheng. After all, it's better to avoid trouble.

As expected, Pei Zhi frowned deeply after hearing this, "Let me go with you next time. Those smoky and polluted places are not safe at all."

He paused, then said, "What if we encounter some strange people?"

Pei Xi: "".

She was once again amazed by Pei Zhi's ability to launch precise attacks.

“What strange people could there be?” Just as she was feeling a little guilty, Shi Chen casually said, “If you’re so worried, why don’t you just keep your sister in your pocket?”

Pei Zhi glared at him. "She's still young."

“I think she’s more mature than you.” Shi Chen shrugged and spread his hands. “And she’s only a year younger than you. In another two years, she’ll be old enough to date.”

Upon hearing this, Pei Zhi immediately became alert and straightened his posture.

He pointed at Shi Chen and gritted his teeth, saying, "I'm warning you, don't you dare lay a finger on my sister."

Shi Chen rolled his eyes at him. "Don't worry, I'm not that much of a jerk."

He scoffed and said to Pei Zhi, "You're the one who watches it more closely than your own eyes."

"Of course, she's my own sister."

Pei Zhi snorted and said irritably.

Shi Chen raised an eyebrow, his peach blossom eyes narrowing slightly, "There will come a day when you can't keep an eye on things."

Pei Zhi sneered, "Shi Chen, if you want to get beaten up, just say so."

"Don't worry at all, Pei Xi is not my type."

Shi Chen placed the half-eaten red bean and taro shaved ice on the table and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Besides, I'm not so despicable as to lay a hand on my good brother's sister."

Pei Zhi looked at him suspiciously, seemingly considering the credibility of his guarantee, and raised an eyebrow to ask him: "So what type do you like?"

To be honest, Shi Chen has had so many girlfriends, some of whom he met only once, and some of whom he broke up with without ever even meeting them.

There are different types of eyelids (single eyelids, double eyelids, long hair, short hair), so there's really no fixed type.

Shi Chen's smile faltered, but before he could speak, he was interrupted by a voice, "The mango pomelo sago is here!"

Shen Miaoyi brought over two bowls, placing one in front of Pei Xi and the other in the empty seat opposite him.

Then I sat down in the empty seat.

Pei Xi glanced at the bowl in front of her, somewhat surprised, "You also have red bean and taro shaved ice?"

Shi Chen was startled and turned to look. The bowl in front of Shen Miaoyi was covered with a layer of red beans and taro paste.

However, unlike his bowl, this bowl didn't have more red beans, but more taro paste.

Shen Miaoyi nodded, "My grandma said the taro paste was steamed especially well today, it's so smooth and creamy, so I'll eat this."

"Really? Let me try some."

Pei Xi reached over and scooped a spoonful of taro paste from Shen Miaoyi's bowl.

The taro paste melts in your mouth, leaving a lingering fragrance after swallowing.

Shen Miaoyi pushed the bowl towards Pei Xi and whispered, "I made too much. You can eat more for me, otherwise I'll gain weight."

Pei Xi respectfully complied and scooped out another large spoonful.

While eating, she frowned and said, "Who said you're fat? You're not fat at all, okay?"

Shen Miaoyi pursed her lips, feeling a little embarrassed.

She was never thin as a child; she was chubby. Later, she grew a bit during puberty, so she wasn't exactly fat, but she still wasn't thin either.

Only Pei Xi would praise her as cute all the time.

Just as Shen Miaoyi was about to speak, she heard an unexpected voice beside her: "It's okay for girls to be a little chubby, they look cute."

Everyone turned to look at Shi Chen with surprised expressions.

Pei Zhi stared in disbelief and asked, "Shi Chen, have you taken the wrong medicine?!"

He didn't think there was anything wrong with what Shi Chen said; he was just surprised that such words could come out of his mouth.

Shi Chen has always been a sharp-tongued person, always resorting to sarcasm and ridicule. Over the years, he had never heard him speak such kind words in such a gentle tone.
