After that day, Pei Xi went to class as usual, and Jiang Cheng went to work as usual. A few days later, Jiang Cheng's birthday arrived.
Every year when Pei Xi celebrates her birthday, Pei Zhi organizes a large group of people to celebrate with her in a lively atmosphere.
However, on Jiang Cheng's birthday, it was always just him and Pei Xi.
Pei Xi knew that Jiang Cheng didn't like crowds, so she thought this kind of time alone with him was perfect.
Jiang Cheng's birthday happened to fall on a weekend, so she prepared a gift early and then went to the rented apartment to decorate it.
She made a cake by hand at a DIY cake shop. Although it didn't look very appealing, it was her heartfelt intention, and she thought Jiang Cheng wouldn't mind.
This year, she didn't want to eat at restaurants outside. She just wanted to stay at home with Jiang Cheng, eat cake, and then snuggle on the sofa with her arms around him while watching a movie.
Just thinking about it makes me feel relaxed and comfortable.
Jiang Cheng's company has been very busy lately, with team rebuilding and new project development, so he has to work overtime almost every day.
She and Jiang Cheng agreed to leave work as early as possible today, but she wasn't sure what time he would be back.
Because he has a rather important dinner party today.
So Pei Xi quietly nestled on the sofa, watching TV while waiting for him.
As it grew dark outside, she tried sending Jiang Cheng a WeChat message: "When will you be done?"
Jiang Cheng did not reply immediately.
They probably didn't see it.
A few minutes later, his phone chimed, and Jiang Cheng finally replied: "It's almost over. I'll leave after I sign the contract."
Pei Xi replied with an "okay," and then said there was no rush.
Jiang Cheng quickly replied, "I want to go back to be with the baby as soon as possible. I will do so as soon as possible."
Pei Xi couldn't help but chuckle.
She replied, "Okay, I'll wait for you to come back so we can eat cake."
Then she found a thin blanket and covered herself with it, before curling up on the sofa to watch TV.
The room was warm, and the TV was a bit boring. Before she knew it, she was feeling drowsy and almost fell asleep when there was a knock on the door.
Pei Xi was startled and instantly came to her senses.
She quickly went to the door and peeked through the peephole.
"Baby, it's me." A familiar, cold voice came from outside at just the right moment.
Pei Xi quickly opened the door, and Jiang Cheng leaned against the door with a disheveled figure, wearing only a thin white shirt and holding a coat in his hand.
It was almost the end of November, but he didn't seem to be afraid of the cold at all.
Pei Xi frowned slightly, suddenly catching a faint smell of alcohol.
Before she could even speak, Jiang Cheng had already squeezed in, closed the door, and pulled her into his arms with a bear hug.
“Sorry, baby, I forgot my keys,” he said.
Pei Xi smiled. Why apologize for forgetting your keys? It's like being a child.
She took a deep breath, and the smell of alcohol seemed to intensify at the tip of her nose.
Upon closer reflection, Jiang Cheng's speaking speed seemed to be slower than before.
Pei Xi tilted her head back from his embrace and tentatively asked, "Have you been drinking?"
Jiang Cheng nodded.
“I tried to refuse, but I couldn’t. Don’t be angry, baby,” he said, frowning.
Pei Xi laughed. It was just a little wine; why was she getting angry?
Just as she was about to speak, Jiang Cheng suddenly released her again.
He frowned, seemingly disgusted with himself. "I smell, and I'm afraid it will affect the baby. I'll go take a shower first."
Pei Xi nodded, "Okay."
Then, the next second, she saw Jiang Cheng take off his shirt on the spot, revealing his bare upper body.
Then he threw his shirt on the ground and strode quickly to the bathroom.
Pei Xi: "..."
She felt that Jiang Cheng seemed a little strange.
Is he drunk?
Pei Xi waited outside for him to take a shower. He showered very quickly as usual, and soon came out of the bathroom wrapped in a bathrobe. He wasn't even wearing shoes, and his hair was still wet, dripping water onto the floor.
Upon seeing this, Pei Xi immediately grabbed a towel, pulled him to sit on the sofa, and began to dry his head.
The smell of alcohol on him was gone, replaced by the scent of shower gel and shampoo.
He was very obedient, letting Pei Xi rub his head back and forth.
Pei Xi stood in front of him, between his spread legs.
He remained silent, so Pei Xi, while drying her hair, tentatively called out, "Jiang Cheng?"
Jiang Cheng immediately lifted his head from under the towel, a hint of grievance appearing in his sharp eyes. He looked at her and said, "It's Cheng."
Pei Xi paused, then smiled helplessly, "Alright, Cheng."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Cheng's brows relaxed again.
Looking at his slightly flushed cheeks and the corners of his eyes, Pei Xi felt that he seemed to be a little drunk.
"How much did you drink?" she asked, frowning slightly.
Jiang Cheng immediately looked away, his expression somewhat guilty, "I drank...not much."
"Hmm?" Pei Xi raised an eyebrow, clearly not believing it.
Jiang Cheng paused for a moment, then said, "Hmm, I drank... a lot."
After saying that, he quickly looked up at her and explained, "But I didn't mean to." He frowned deeply, "I really can't refuse, because if I do, other people will be angry."
His eyes looked like those of a child afraid of being blamed, and Pei Xi's heart softened at the sight.
Jiang Cheng seems really different now; he's more obedient and talks more, just like an innocent child.
So, wanting to tease him, she touched his face and deliberately said, "Good boys don't drink alcohol."
"I was wrong, baby." Jiang Cheng immediately admitted his mistake. "I apologize to you, you can punish me."
"How should I punish you?" Pei Xi suddenly laughed.
Jiang Cheng stared at her, remained silent for two seconds, and then said nothing, his eyes filled with unpredictable emotions.
Then he suddenly turned his head, grabbed her wrist and kissed it, his lips pressed against her skin, and said somewhat indistinctly, "Baby, you can sit on my face in a bit."
Pei Xi: "..."
