After Jiang Cheng left, Pei Xi ate dinner with Pei Zhi every day for three or four days in a row.
While enjoying himself, Pei Zhi made sarcastic remarks, saying that some people value women more than him and only remember him after their boyfriends leave.
Pei Xi remained silent, knowing he was in the wrong, and simply swiped Jiang Cheng's card to pay the bill.
Shi Chen was extremely busy. Pei Zhi hadn't been able to invite him since the last gathering, but he finally had time today and honored them by having dinner together.
Halfway through the meal, Pei Xi suddenly remembered something and asked Shi Chen, "Miao Miao and Yu Fei are participating in the TV station's New Year's Eve gala this year, and they said they'd save tickets for us. Brother Shi Chen, are you going? It's rare that you're in Jingjiang this year."
"Who knows?" Shi Chen pondered for two seconds, then smiled and said, "We might be called back at any time with a phone call."
Pei Xi nodded in understanding; she knew Shi Chen was having a really tough time right now.
Then she thought for a moment and said, "Then I'll have them save one for you first, and we'll see what happens later. It's better to be prepared."
Shi Chen nodded, "Okay."
Pei Zhi swallowed what was in his mouth, took a sip of water, and asked, "By the way, how are those two doing lately? Some people in our lab still listen to their songs. When I told them I knew them, some people said I was bragging."
He scoffed, looking disdainful. "I can't be bothered to explain to them."
Pei Xi chuckled.
"They're doing well, just a bit busy." She remembered something and said with a smile, "Yufei told me a few days ago that a young actor confessed his feelings to Miaomiao, which scared Miaomiao so much that she avoids him like the plague ever since."
Pei Xi couldn't stop laughing when she thought of Sun Yufei's description. She sighed, "I always felt that my Miaomiao probably never had any romantic feelings."
“Yes,” Pei Zhi said leisurely, “unlike some people who have too much emotional attachment.”
As he spoke, he glanced to the side with an air of importance.
The person being glanced at seemed oblivious, slowly ladled out a bowl of soup, took a sip, and then spoke: "It's still better than some people who haven't even been in a relationship yet."
The person who was called out immediately glared at him, "I'm not casual, okay? My feelings are very pure."
Upon hearing this, Shi Chen suppressed a laugh and said, "Yes, you are holy, you are the most holy. Who can be more holy than you, Young Master Pei?"
"Don't let your sister be married by then and you still be a saint."
Pei Zhi: "..."
He took a deep breath, then asked seriously, "What's your badge number?"
Shi Chen raised an eyebrow. "What?"
Pei Zhi clenched his fist. "I want to file a complaint. A police officer has physically assaulted members of the public."
Shi Chen: "..."
Pei Xi was amused by the two of them and burst into laughter.
The meal was finished amidst Pei Zhi and Shi Chen's verbal sparring. Afterwards, it was already late. Since Shi Chen was off the next day and the two hadn't seen each other for a long time, he and Pei Zhi arranged to go to his place to play games.
Pei Xi didn't go back to her dormitory; the two of them took her to Jiang Cheng's place.
After taking a shower and changing his clothes, Pei Xi dried his hair while making a video call to Jiang Cheng.
The phone rang for a few seconds, and Jiang Cheng answered it quickly. He was probably looking at his computer, with the hotel's floor-to-ceiling windows in the background.
He hadn't showered yet, and was wearing a white shirt with the top two buttons undone, revealing half of his collarbone and the mole on it.
Pei Xi felt that he was seducing her again.
Because she loved kissing that mole.
She suppressed her emotions, looked away from her phone screen, and asked with a smile, "What's my boyfriend doing?"
"I just finished eating," Jiang Cheng said. "I'm going back to the hotel to look at some documents."
His voice was still clear and pleasant, but it carried a slightly tired, raspy quality.
Pei Xi nodded and said, "Me too, I just got back and took a shower."
Jiang Cheng hummed in agreement, then asked casually, "Who did you eat with?"
Pei Xi paused in wiping her hair.
Besides Pei Zhi, who else could she eat with?
Meeting his gaze, she smiled and deliberately held up two fingers, saying, "With two handsome guys."
Jiang Cheng looked at her sly gaze and suddenly smiled.
"Is he as handsome as your boyfriend?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Pei Xi was taken aback, not expecting him to ask that question.
She pursed her lips, looked at him with a slight smile, and didn't answer.
After a second or two of silence, Jiang Cheng continued with a smile, "Why isn't the baby saying anything?"
Pei Xi smiled wryly, saying with a hint of helplessness, "Why have you become so childish?"
She paused for a moment, then said, "Can you learn something good from Pei Zhi?"
"I didn't talk to Pei Zhixue." Jiang Cheng's expression was somewhat innocent.
“But only Pei Zhi used to ask this kind of question.” Pei Xi looked at him with a teasing look in his eyes.
Jiang Cheng paused for a moment, then leaned closer to the screen, his handsome face instantly magnified, and his voice, low and magnetic, came close to the microphone: "Then how did you used to coax Pei Zhi? Coax me too."
His voice trailed off slightly, making it sound somewhat soothing.
This person is being coquettish again.
Pei Xi thought.
She was absolutely certain that he was seducing her.
Even though she could only look at him on the screen and couldn't kiss or touch him, he still tried to seduce her.
That's truly wicked; their intentions are despicable!
Pei Xi snorted softly, deciding to be determined and not fall for his tricks.
She frowned, her round almond-shaped eyes glistening with tears, and said in a feigned reproach, "I've missed you so much, and you still want me to coax you?"
"Shouldn't you be the one comforting me?"
Jiang Cheng's smile suddenly froze.
Then his gaze turned somber.
He looked into Pei Xi's eyes, remained silent for several seconds, and finally spoke softly, "Baby, I feel..."
Hearing him stop speaking again, Pei Xi asked in confusion, "Hmm?"
After a pause, Jiang Cheng said with a sigh, "I feel like you're challenging my reason."
