Chapter 18 Shi Chen, don't tell my brother!

School starts on Monday.

As soon as Pei Xi entered the classroom, he found it unusually lively.

They chatted excitedly in small groups, chattering away.

The classroom was filled with a cacophony of voices.

Pei Xi walked to his seat and sat down. Along the way, he heard words such as "school anniversary" and "program" several times.

My gaze fell on class monitor He Zan, who was standing in front of several girls, holding a notebook and writing something down.

Pei Xi patted Shen Miaoyi on the shoulder and asked her, "What news is out? Why is everyone so excited?"

Shen Miaoyi turned around, moved closer to her, and said softly, "Our school is having its anniversary celebration, the 40th anniversary of its founding. I heard they're going to have a big celebration."

"I see." Pei Xi nodded. "I remember the school anniversary is in December, right? That's still a long way off."

"This time the scale is different."

Shen Miaoyi glanced at He Zan, who was standing to the side.

"The class monitor is currently collecting program lists. Anyone who wants to perform should submit their name first, and then we'll conduct auditions according to program categories."

"Anyone can participate?" Pei Xi raised an eyebrow in surprise.

In the past, when there were school activities, a few programs were predetermined, and they were basically performed by a few famous students with special talents in the school. Ordinary people would not have a chance.

“Yes.” Shen Miaoyi nodded. “This time is different from before, after all, it’s the whole year.”

Pei Xi was also excited upon hearing this, and reached out to push Chen Miaoyi's arm, "Then you can sign up for one."

Shen Miaoyi exclaimed in surprise, looking troubled, "I...I can't do it, can I?"

"Why isn't it working?" Pei Xi frowned.

She had heard Shen Miaoyi sing before, and it was the most beautiful voice she had ever heard in real life.

She believes she can do it, but she lacks confidence.

Seeing Shen Miaoyi's timid expression, Pei Xi patiently persuaded her, "Isn't there still a preliminary selection? Whether we're good or not isn't up to us to decide, it's up to the judges. There's no harm in participating."

Shen Miaoyi looked into Pei Xi's eyes, those amber pupils filled with encouragement and expectation. She moved her lips slightly, but found it difficult to say words of resistance.

Pei Xi glanced at her expression and smiled. At times like this, someone had to give her a push.

She reached out and poked He Zan's arm. "Class monitor."

He Zan turned around. She was one of the few short-haired girls in the class, with single eyelids, fair skin, tall and thin, and a calm demeanor, making her very suitable to be the class monitor.

"What's wrong?"

He Zan looked down at Pei Xi.

Pei Xi smiled and pointed at Shen Miaoyi, "She's applying for a solo performance."

He Zan looked somewhat surprised upon hearing this.

She paused for a moment, holding the pen, and looked at Shen Miaoyi, saying, "Are you sure you want to sign up for a solo performance? There will definitely be a lot of singing competitions, and Sun Yufei from Class 5 will definitely sign up."

Sun Yufei is a regular performer on school stages and a child star who has participated in singing competitions since she was a child. She is quite well-known in Yushi and is a household name in the entire No. 1 Middle School.

He Zan was just trying to be helpful, implying that if you signed up for singing, you would most likely not get to perform on stage and would only become cannon fodder.

Shen Miaoyi hesitated upon hearing this. She looked up and suddenly met Pei Xi's encouraging gaze. She nodded to He Zan and said, "I...I know."

He Zan frowned and asked her, "Have you thought it through?"

Shen Miaoyi subconsciously looked at Pei Xi and saw that Pei Xi nodded affirmatively at her.

So she looked up at He Zan and said, "Okay, class monitor, you can report it for me."

He Zan nodded, pressed down on the pen in his hand, and wrote Shen Miaoyi's name on the notebook.

"Okay, I'll report it to you. Then it'll all depend on your own abilities."

After finishing writing, she handed Shen Miaoyi a form, saying, "Fill this out and give it to me before school ends tomorrow."

"Hmm." Shen Miaoyi took the application form, looking at it with a slightly timid expression. "Pei Xi..."

Pei Xi put his hand on her shoulder and patted her twice, saying, "I believe you can do it. You need to have confidence in yourself."

Shen Miaoyi pursed her lips and nodded deeply.

She couldn't let Pei Xi down.

Suddenly, she remembered something and asked Pei Xi, "By the way, when does your chemistry competition start?"

"It seems to be next week," Pei Xi said. "We also need to go to Yi City next door for two days of training this weekend."

"Is anyone with you? Is your brother going?" Shen Miaoyi asked with some concern.

"He didn't report it."

Pei Xi shook his head. Pei Zhi participated in a competition when he was in his second year of high school, but he failed miserably and has kept his distance from such things ever since.

She had never participated before, so she decided to give it a try out of curiosity.

Pei Xi patted Shen Miaoyi on the shoulder again, "Anyway, I'll definitely have some classmates from our school with me, so don't worry."

Shen Miaoyi gave a soft "hmm," acknowledging that Pei Xi was far more adept at making friends than she was.

Moreover, Pei Xi is the kind of person who will be liked wherever he goes.

She realized that her worries were unnecessary.

Pei Xi knew that Shen Miaoyi was worried about him, so he squeezed her chubby little hand and comforted her, "It'll only be a few days. When I come back, I'll bring you some delicious local specialties from Yi City."

Speaking of food, Pei Xi suddenly exclaimed, "Ah, I almost forgot, Pei Zhi's breakfast is still here with me. I forgot to give it to him earlier. I'll go and take it to him."

Shen Miaoyi nodded, "Go quickly, class is about to start."

"Um."

Pei Xi took a seaweed rice ball out of the bag and quickly walked out the door.

It was rush hour, and the corridor was filled with students coming and going, many of them hurrying past with their backpacks on.
