When Pei Xi walked out of the fortune-telling hall, he felt light and carefree.
The sound of the wind rustling through the pines reached her ears as she walked under the fluttering red stripes.
Then he stood on tiptoe and tied one up by hand.
As she walked out of the temple gate along the bluestone path, she stood at the top of the steps and suddenly caught a glimpse of a familiar figure standing at the other end of the steps.
He wore a black trench coat with a white shirt, his shoulders were straight, and he looked neat and upright.
The entrance was bustling with people. He stood in a corner, his hands in his pockets, his expression calm and composed, without a trace of impatience.
A breeze blew by, causing the hem of his trench coat to flutter slightly and also stirring his dark hair.
As if by premonition, he looked up and looked at her. Across the entire flight of steps, they looked at each other from above and below. The moment their eyes met, she saw a soft smile in his dark eyes.
Pei Xi felt as if a feather had swept through his heart.
She suddenly had the illusion that he had been waiting for her for a long time.
It was as if he had known all along that she would appear.
She immediately lifted her foot, quickly walked down the steps, and bumped into his arms with a gust of wind, tightly wrapping her arms around his waist.
The white shirt exuded a familiar, comforting warmth and fragrance. Pei Xi closed her eyes and hugged him tighter.
"Why are you here?" she asked, nuzzling her cheek against his chest.
Jiang Cheng pulled the coat over his shoulder and wrapped her in his arms.
"I've come to pick you up," he said.
Pei Xi could feel the vibrations in his chest as he spoke, along with the beating of his heart.
"But I didn't say I wanted you to pick me up." Her voice was soft, with a hint of coquettish intimacy.
Jiang Cheng chuckled, "It was my idea to come."
He hugged her tighter. "Isn't it natural for a boyfriend to pick up his girlfriend?"
Pei Xi curled the corners of her lips into a smile as she nestled in his arms.
After hugging for a few seconds, she reluctantly let go, pulled away from his embrace, and looked up at him.
Jiang Cheng also looked down at her, his eyes full of subtle smiles.
"What did Master say?" he asked.
Pei Xi hummed in agreement and said with a smile, "My master said I'm very lucky; I have a family that dotes on me, friends who love me, and..."
She paused deliberately, her eyelashes fluttering a few times.
"What is it?" Jiang Cheng asked, suppressing a laugh.
Pei Xi chuckled and said, "There is also a good man who will accompany me for life."
Jiang Cheng caught those two words and was momentarily stunned.
lifetime.
What beautiful words.
He looked into Pei Xi's clear almond-shaped eyes, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly.
"Did Master say what this good man's name is?"
Pei Xi chuckled.
She frowned slightly, pretending to think, and said, "Let me think... I think his name is... Jiang Cheng."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Cheng suddenly smiled, his eyes sparkling with tenderness.
Pei Xi suddenly remembered something, grabbed his trench coat sleeve, and said with excitement and innocence, "It is said that the monks in this temple are wise and eloquent, and every word they say comes true. They never speak empty words."
After the words were spoken, there was a two-second silence. The two stared at each other in silence, neither saying a word.
Jiang Cheng looked into her bright eyes, and after a long while, he gave a soft "hmm".
It will naturally work, without a doubt.
For him, everything he has done all along has been for this purpose.
He will be with Pei Xi forever; they are a match made in heaven.
Jiang Cheng suddenly smiled and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Baby, do you know what the first principle of spending a lifetime together is?"
Pei Xi was taken aback, and then heard him continue, "We do have a home of our own."
Jiang Cheng took her hand, held her soft hand tightly in his palm, and then said softly, "The car is in the parking lot. Let's go, baby, I'll take you somewhere."
