The staff stamped the document, then handed them two bright red certificates, smiling and saying, "Congratulations."
Jiang Cheng accepted it and nodded politely, "Thank you."
He handed Pei Xi's copy to her, then opened his own copy, his fingertips tracing the raised lines of the stamp.
It seemed to carry warmth.
Jiang Cheng rubbed it several times before finally closing it. Pei Xi happened to reach out to him, "Give it to me, I'll put it in my bag."
Jiang Cheng handed it to her.
Pei Xi carefully placed it down, then took his arm, her voice light and cheerful: "Let's go."
She paused for a moment, then said, "Husband."
"Hmm..." Jiang Cheng responded subconsciously, about to lift his foot, but suddenly froze in place, his Adam's apple bobbing hoarsely, "Baby, what did you call me?"
“Honey.” Pei Xi smiled and winked at him, her eyes sparkling.
Jiang Cheng's chest heaved suddenly, and his breathing became heavier.
After a two-second silence, he asked in a low voice, "Can I call you again, baby?"
Unexpectedly, Pei Xi shook his head.
She grabbed his arm, a mischievous glint in her eyes, "That's not fair, I want to hear you call me."
Jiang Cheng's Adam's apple bobbed twice more.
He moved his lips, and after a few seconds, he spoke in a deep voice: "Wife."
He spoke slowly, with a hint of awkwardness from speaking for the first time, or perhaps due to nervousness, so he spoke cautiously.
"Wife," Jiang Cheng called out again.
The light from outside the window poured down and fell into Pei Xi's amber pupils, like warmed syrup.
Looking at Jiang Cheng, her heart was enveloped in boundless sweetness. She couldn't help but stand on tiptoe and kiss his lips.
A breeze blows, and the magnolia blossoms outside the door sway gently, as if offering a soft blessing.
