Chapter 21: Are all the students at No. 1 High School this good-looking?

He started it, and then someone else followed suit. The boy who had spoken earlier said, "My name is Xu Kai, from No. 1 Middle School."

Upon hearing that it was No. 1 Middle School, Pei Xi looked up at the boy twice.

She seemed to have seen Xu Kai's photo on the honor roll before, but she didn't remember him very well.

I am short and thin, the kind of person who would be easily lost in a crowd.

Then the girl from before spoke again: "My name is Dai Wei, from No. 7 Middle School. I'm the only one from my school participating in the competition."

"The only son," Gao Jialiang sighed.

As everyone knows, No. 7 Middle School is the worst high school in Yulin City, so it's not surprising that this girl named Dai Wei is the only student from No. 7 Middle School.

Several other people introduced themselves, but Pei Xi didn't recognize any of them, so he lowered his head and started scrolling through his phone again.

Before I could even lower my head completely, I heard that familiar loud voice, "Where's that beautiful lady sitting in the last row? What's your name?"

Pei Xi was caught off guard by being called out, and paused in his actions.

She sighed silently and was forced to raise her head to introduce herself: "My name is Pei Xi, and I'm also from No. 1 Middle School."

Upon hearing this, Xu Kai turned to look at Pei Xi with some surprise.

Everyone turned to look at her upon hearing the sound.

Pei Xi instantly became the focus of everyone's attention. She was sitting in the last row, and several pairs of eyes were shooting at her like cameras, taking in all of them.

Gao Jialiang had only seen half of her face before, but now that he saw her whole face, his eyes immediately lit up with amazement.

He raised an eyebrow, stroked his chin, and said, "Why does this name sound so familiar?"

One of the boys immediately joked with him, "You probably only become familiar with pretty girls when you see them, right?"

Gao Jialiang laughed, then suddenly remembered something and asked Xu Kai, "Isn't there a guy named Pei Zhi at your No. 1 Middle School? I think I heard he has a younger sister."

The surname Pei is not very common, and coupled with Pei Xi's outstanding appearance, Gao Jialiang immediately remembered why it sounded familiar.

Before Xu Kai could answer, Pei Xi spoke first: "Pei Zhi is my brother."

Gao Jialiang gave a look of sudden realization.

Because Pei Zhi was popular and had many friends, Pei Xi wondered if Gao Jialiang might be a friend of Pei Zhi, so she tentatively asked, "Do you know my brother?"

Gao Jialiang's lips curled into a smile, "Pei Zhi leads your No. 1 Middle School team and beats our No. 5 Middle School to a pulp every year. It's hard not to know him."

Upon hearing this, Pei Xi thought to himself, "So he's not Pei Zhi's friend after all. On the contrary, he's been abused by him."

She looked at Gao Jialiang, unsure how to respond.

Just as they were hesitating, the voice of the teacher in charge suddenly came from the front of the carriage: "Everyone, please be quiet. I'm going to take attendance to see if everyone is here."

Gao Jialiang glanced at Pei Xi, turned around, and returned to his seat.

The carriage fell silent instantly.

All that remained was the sound of the teacher calling out names.

The list was selected in order of schools. After selecting No. 5 Middle School, No. 7 Middle School, and No. 13 Middle School, the list was finally completed, and then No. 1 Middle School was selected.

"Wang Man".

"Kong Xiangyu".

"Sun Tao".

Xu Kai.

After clicking all the way up, Pei Xi realized that she didn't really know any of these people from No. 1 Middle School.

Pei Xi.

The teacher in charge finally called on her.

“Here,” Pei Xi replied.

Just when she thought she was the last one, the teacher in charge looked down at the list in her hand and then spoke.

"Jiang Cheng."

Pei Xi was suddenly taken aback.

The carriage was silent; there was no response.

The teacher in charge read it again: "Jiang Cheng".

The carriage remained quiet. The teacher in charge frowned and muttered, "We haven't arrived yet?"

She lowered her head, picked up her pen, and was about to write in her notebook when a cold, indifferent voice suddenly came from the front of the carriage: "They're here."

Upon hearing this voice, Pei Xi's eyes widened in disbelief.

The next second, a familiar figure walked up through the front door, his tall frame almost touching the top of the carriage.

It really was Jiang Cheng.

He seemed to have stayed up all night; his eyes were a little red, and he didn't look very energetic, with his thin eyelids half-closed.

The teacher in charge glanced at him and waved him over, "Come in and sit down, the bus is about to leave."

Jiang Cheng grunted in agreement and walked along the narrow aisle toward the back of the car.

A rustling sound of conversation immediately filled the carriage.

The female classmates who had been talking intensely just moments before lowered their voices and began to chatter amongst themselves, all staring intently at Jiang Cheng's face with eager eyes.

Jiang Cheng ignored him and walked straight to the back, sitting down in the last row.

Right next to Pei Xi, separated by a narrow passage.

The bus seats were a bit cramped, and after he sat down, his legs were so long that his knees were pressed tightly against the back of the seat in front of him, which didn't look very comfortable.

But he didn't seem to care much. He had his hands in his pockets, head down, chin buried in his collar, looking like he just wanted to sleep.

A few bold girls in front of him secretly turned around to look at him, including Dai Wei, who had just introduced herself.

Pei Xi also tilted his head, looking at his face from the side.

His eyelids were closed, his black eyelashes were long, his nose was straight and prominent, and his profile was flawless.

She suddenly had an inopportune thought: of all the people present, it seemed that only she could see this scene from her position.

Dai Wei's eyes almost lit up. She sat in front of Pei Xi, turned around, leaned on the back of the chair, and asked her, "Pei Xi, is this from your school?"

She glanced at Pei Xi, then at Jiang Cheng, her voice low but unable to hide her excitement, "Are all the students at No. 1 High School this good-looking?!"

"I..."

Before Pei Xi could answer, he saw Dai Wei looking at Jiang Cheng and covered her mouth in surprise.

She instinctively turned her head to look, only to be met with a pair of dark pupils.
