Chapter 22 His gaze seemed to carry displeasure.

The moment he turned his head, Pei Xi saw that the weariness in Jiang Cheng's eyes had dissipated, and his brows furrowed slightly.

Dai Wei's infatuation was impossible to hide; she covered her mouth, but it all came out of her eyes.

She exclaimed in a voice only Pei Xi could hear, "So handsome..."

Pei Xi unconsciously tightened her grip on the phone. After a couple of seconds of thought, just as she was about to greet the teacher, she heard the teacher clapping her hands loudly.

"Listen up, students! Our journey will take about two hours. After we arrive at the hotel and drop off our luggage, we'll go straight to the training camp for classes. There won't be any time to rest." The teacher in charge of the group said loudly from the aisle. "So I suggest that you take a nap on the bus and get some rest so you won't be too tired for class later."

"Okay, thank you for your concern, teacher."

A loud, grinning voice rang out from ahead; it was clearly Gao Jialiang.

The teacher in charge glanced at him with a smile, "Students, fasten your seatbelts, we're starting now."

As soon as he finished speaking, the bus swayed and started moving.

Pei Xi withdrew his gaze and looked at Jiang Cheng again, only to find that he had already turned his head away and resumed his previous posture.

With her head bowed, eyes closed, and arms crossed over her chest, she immediately responded to the teacher's suggestion and began to doze off.

They are very obedient.

The carriage fell silent instantly, even Gao Jialiang's loud voice fell silent, leaving only the rumble of the train engine.

Pei Xi also wanted to take a nap, but as she drove, she noticed a problem. She didn't know where the driver had learned to drive, but the car was driven very aggressively, whether overtaking or turning.

Pei Xi couldn't even take a nap; her master wouldn't give her that chance at all.

She sighed silently and could only lean back in her seat, looking out the window at the scenery.

The sunlight was just right, and the car window reflected the light slightly, perfectly mirroring Jiang Cheng's image across the street.

He remained in the sleeping position, his chin buried in his collar, his nose straight and cold.

Pei Xi couldn't help but wonder if he was asleep or just resting with his eyes closed.

If he can actually fall asleep, that's quite impressive. I wonder just how tired he is.

Lost in thought, Pei Xi suddenly snapped back to reality when the car reached a tollbooth. She had been staring at her reflection in the glass the whole time, completely ignoring the scenery outside.

Dai Wei turned her head again at this moment, whether simply to talk to her or to take the opportunity to steal a glance at Jiang Cheng in the corner, she asked in a low voice, "Pei Xi, are you dizzy? I feel a little carsick."

Pei Xi shook his head, "I'm okay, but it's too shaky, I can't sleep."

"I'll go tell the teacher and ask her to tell the driver to drive more steadily."

After Dai Wei finished speaking, she stood up, walked to the teacher in charge, and whispered a few words in her ear.

Then Pei Xi saw the teacher leading the group crane his neck and shout to the driver, "Sir, could you please drive a little more steadily so the students can get some rest? Some of them are getting carsick."

When the driver heard her say that he was driving erratically, which was undoubtedly a questioning of his driving skills, he immediately became impatient. "I'm a twenty-year veteran driver. I've been driving this route for seven or eight years, and I've always driven like this! If you get carsick, just open the window to let the wind in!"

The teacher in charge was young, and when the driver spoke so rudely to her, her face turned red and white in turns. She didn't know how to refute him, so she simply fell silent.

Seeing that the negotiations had failed, Dai Wei walked back with a disappointed look on her face and exchanged a helpless glance with Pei Xi.

Pei Xi smiled at her and said softly, "It's okay, just hang in there and we'll be there soon."

Dai Wei nodded, and before sitting back down, she couldn't help but glance back a couple more times.

The car drove for a while longer, then turned into a parking lot and suddenly stopped.

The driver's gruff voice came from the front: "We've arrived at the service area. Anyone who needs to use the restroom, hurry up and go. We'll only stop for ten minutes!"

After saying that, the driver unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car.

People got off the bus one after another. Dai Wei turned around and asked Pei Xi if he wanted to get off for some fresh air and buy some food or drinks. Pei Xi nodded in agreement.

The supermarket in the service area was quite crowded. The two bought two ice cream cones, ate them in a few bites, and felt much better.

Before ten minutes had passed, Pei Xi and Dai Wei didn't rush to get into the car. Instead, they stood under the parasol and slowly ate their ice cream cones.

They were standing not far from the bus, so they could keep an eye on its movements.

Pei Xi subconsciously looked towards the car, but his gaze fell on nothing.

The seat Jiang Cheng was sitting in was now empty.

Pei Xi thought he would continue sleeping when he got out of the car, but he didn't expect him to actually get out.

Pei Xi looked around aimlessly and saw that not far away, the driver was standing by the front of the car, lighting a cigarette with his head down, and then taking a deep drag, his beer belly contracting and expanding.

Then, the next second, a person came around from the other side of the bus.

He had his back to Pei Xi, so Pei Xi could only see his back, but there was no doubt that it was Jiang Cheng.

She saw Jiang Cheng walk to the front of the car, say something to the driver, and then take something out of his pocket and hand it to him.

The driver took it, grinned, nodded at him, and put the item in his pocket.

Then Jiang Cheng left.

A few seconds later, she saw him get into the car, slowly walk across the aisle, and sit in his original seat.

He lowered his head, his eyelashes drooping, his eyes not closed, as if he were scrolling through his phone.

They quickly finished the ice cream cone and threw the wrapper into the nearby trash can.

Seeing that everyone had gotten into the car one after another, Dai Wei also put her arm around Pei Xi's arm and said, "Let's go, get in the car."

"Um."

As soon as they got on the bus, Gao Jialiang’s loud voice rang out: “Hey beautiful ladies from No. 1 High School, we have some empty seats here. Come up and sit in the front. It’s too bumpy in the back and you’ll get carsick. The middle seats are the best.”

Because of his shout, Pei Xi was once again forced to become the focus of everyone's attention in the car.

Feeling uneasy, Pei Xi looked at Gao Jialiang, who was patting the empty seat next to him with a grin, his smile carrying a hint of flattery.

He kept waving at her, "Come on, come on~"

Before Pei Xi could speak, Dai Wei behind her said, "Hey, you rich kid from No. 5 Middle School, aren't you a little too eager to please? Could you be any more obvious?"

Pei Xi had long seen that Dai Wei was straightforward and outspoken, saying whatever came to mind.

Gao Jialiang wasn't annoyed by her teasing, and still smiled and said, "A gentleman cares about a beautiful lady, is there a problem? No problem!"

Dai Wei glared at him, annoyed, thinking that this guy was really shameless.

The two exchanged a few more words, but Pei Xi didn't look at them because she noticed that Jiang Cheng had also raised his head and was looking in her direction.

His eyes were dark, and his face was expressionless.

His gaze was cold, seemingly carrying displeasure.
