Chapter 23 Only Jiang Cheng would do this.

Pei Xi figured that the others were making too much noise and disturbing his rest.

With other classmates boarding behind them, it wasn't convenient for the two of them to continue blocking the aisle. Pei Xi quickly waved to Gao Jialiang, "Thank you, no need, I'll sit in the back."

Gao Jialiang was rejected as expected, but he still smiled and said, "Okay, if it gets too bumpy later, you're welcome to come anytime."

Pei Xi nodded politely and pulled Dai Wei to the back.

As I sat back down, I caught a glimpse of Jiang Cheng looking down at his phone again, swiping away at something.

The teacher in charge counted the number of people, and the bus started up again and slowly drove away from the service area.

After driving for more than ten minutes, Pei Xi suddenly noticed a problem: the driver seemed to have suddenly changed his personality and was incredibly steady the whole way.

If she hadn't seen the same driver when she got in the car, Pei Xi would have suspected that it was a different person.

The ride was much more comfortable than the first half of the journey.

The sun shone through the glass onto his face. Pei Xi pulled down the brim of his hat, nestled in his seat, closed his eyes to rest, and unconsciously became sleepy in the warm warmth, eventually falling asleep.

When I woke up again, the train had already arrived at the station.

A sudden stop jolted her awake, followed by the voice of her teacher: "Students, we've arrived at the hotel. Pack your things and get off the bus. Be careful not to leave anything behind!"

The car instantly became chaotic as everyone scrambled to pack their things. Dai Wei stood up, turned around, rubbed her neck, and said to Pei Xi, "I actually fell asleep just now, and I almost got a stiff neck."

She twisted her neck hard, then threw her backpack over her shoulder and held out her hand to Pei Xi, "I only have one backpack. Is yours heavy? Do you need me to help you?"

Pei Xi waved his hand in refusal, "No need, I can manage on my own."

Dai Wei nodded, and the two got out of the car one after the other.

The teacher in charge counted the number of people, led everyone into the hotel, and got room cards from the front desk to distribute to them.

Two people share a room, and Pei Xi happened to be assigned to the same room as Dai Wei.

The hotel wasn't luxurious; it was near the middle school where they were going to have their training camp, but the conditions were acceptable.

The group took their room keys and went upstairs in the elevator.

The hotel elevator had a standard capacity, and after a dozen or so people went up, it was packed. Pei Xi, who was still standing at the door, said, "I'll wait for the one next to me. You guys go up first."

After saying that, he waved to Dai Wei, who was standing inside, signaling her to go up first.

Gao Jialiang stood by the elevator, looking rather unserious, and smiled at Pei Xi, "It must be so lonely leaving you all alone. How about I come down and keep you company?"

Pei Xi quickly waved his hand, "I'm not alone, there's someone else here."

After saying that, he turned his head and glanced at another person who had been left behind.

Then his expression froze.

She didn't realize that this person was actually Jiang Cheng.

He was standing behind her, an arm's length away.

Gao Jialiang followed her gaze and met a pair of dark eyes.

The two stared at each other in silence.

Gao Jialiang's smile faded. For some reason, he felt that the guy opposite him was looking at him with a hint of disdain.

He admitted that the other person was more handsome than him, but does being handsome give him the right to look down on others?

Gao Jialiang snorted, his jaw clenching slightly.

Seeing that he was silent, Dai Wei, who was standing inside, became anxious and shouted at him, "Gao Jialiang, close the door quickly! They've already rejected you, and we're still waiting to go upstairs."

Someone echoed Dai Wei, "Yeah, hurry up, what are you dawdling for, Gao Jialiang?"

Gao Jialiang turned his gaze away from Jiang Cheng and then turned to Pei Xi with his usual playful smile, "We're going now, see you later."

"Mm." Pei Xi nodded. The elevator doors slowly closed, and after a ding, the world fell silent.

Only Pei Xi and Jiang Cheng remained downstairs.

After a few seconds of silence, a soft "ding" sounded, and the elevator next to us descended to the first floor.

There was no one in the elevator, so Pei Xi went straight in, followed closely by Jiang Cheng.

Pei Xi's room was on the tenth floor, and Jiang Cheng's was on the eleventh floor. The two pressed their respective floor buttons.

They pressed the floor button, the elevator doors closed, and only the two of them remained in the small space.

The elevator was very quiet, and the space was so quiet that even the slightest sound could be clearly heard.

Pei Xi glanced at Jiang Cheng's profile; he was staring at the constantly changing floors, seemingly lost in thought.

The air was too quiet. Knowing that he wasn't the type to talk, Pei Xi looked at him and spoke first: "What a coincidence, I didn't expect you to be here too."

They had spent two hours together in the same space; that was the first thing they said to each other that day.

Pei Xi then said with a smile, "I went to the internet cafe that day to register."

Jiang Cheng's eyes were calm, his expression serene, only his throat trembled slightly, and he murmured, "Mmm."

Pei Xi ignored his taciturn nature and took another small step closer to him, her amber eyes brimming with curiosity. She lowered her voice and asked, "Can I ask you what you gave the driver at the service area?"

Seemingly not expecting to be seen by her, Jiang Chengwei subtly raised an eyebrow, her expression somewhat surprised.

Two seconds later, he looked down at her and answered truthfully, "Smoke."

Pei Xi looked enlightened, but still asked, "Why did you give him a cigarette?"

Jiang Cheng glanced back at her and said indifferently, "You can't sleep well."

Pei Xi suddenly realized that she had long suspected that the driver's sudden change of attitude in the second half of the journey might really be related to Jiang Cheng.

She smiled and nodded, looking at him and saying, "Yes, that driver was driving too recklessly, and I didn't sleep well either."
