Once the patrolling police officers saw that everyone had run away, they muttered something and drove off.
They usually don't pursue these minor incidents.
The entire stadium fell silent instantly, leaving only Pei Xi and Jiang Cheng around. Pei Xi suddenly felt that the situation was indeed a bit awkward.
A cool breeze brushed her cheeks, and she subconsciously looked up at Jiang Cheng's face.
Although the scenes in the dream were terrifying, now that I actually see Jiang Cheng in person, I can't connect him with the person in my dream at all.
Jiang Cheng noticed her gaze, turned his head and frowned at her, "Why are you looking at me?"
Pei Xi blinked and asked him, "Why did you pull me just now?"
Under the streetlights, the girl's eyelashes were long and curled, and her amber pupils shimmered in her almond-shaped eyes. Her features were strikingly beautiful, yet she possessed an unguarded innocence.
Jiang Cheng suddenly recalled the scene of Pei Zhi placing his hand on her head and shamelessly ruffling her hair.
He twirled his fingers somewhere out of sight and said calmly, "You won't be of any help even if you go in."
Pei Xi knew she couldn't be of much help, but she still shook her head, "It's better for two people to get beaten up than for one person to get beaten up."
That sounds like it's backwards.
But this is Pei Xi's true thought.
She wasn't afraid of getting beaten up; she was willing to help Pei Zhi even a little bit.
Jiang Cheng didn't reply immediately. He looked around and then looked at her, saying, "But Pei Zhi abandoned you."
Pei Xi: "".
That made her earlier statement sound like something a clown would say.
She pursed her lips awkwardly.
“My brother definitely didn’t do it on purpose,” she retorted softly.
Jiang Cheng didn't speak, but his expression was somewhat cold.
It was as if he didn't care at all whether Pei Zhi did it on purpose or not.
Seeing that Pei Zhi had already disappeared, Pei Xi, who had come out in a hurry without her phone, hesitated for two seconds with her eyes lowered, and then glanced at Jiang Cheng's expression.
Just as I was about to ask to borrow it, I heard him say expressionlessly, "Let me see your hand."
Pei Xi was taken aback, then spread his hand open and smiled nonchalantly, "It's nothing, just a scratch."
Jiang Cheng looked at her palm but didn't say anything, only slightly frowned.
"It needs to be disinfected." His voice seemed a little deeper, then he looked around and saw a pharmacy with its sign lit up not far away. "Wait here."
After saying that, he immediately lifted his foot and left. This person's legs were really long, and he walked a long way in just a few steps, leaving Pei Xi no time to refuse.
Pei Xi looked at his tall figure from behind and suddenly felt a strange sensation in her heart.
Even though they had never spoken before, and when they occasionally bumped into each other at school, they would just pass each other like strangers, but for some reason, Pei Xi didn't feel that awkward feeling when she was with him.
Could it be because she dreamed about him not long ago?
But that was hardly a good dream.
Pei Xi was lost in thought for a moment when he heard footsteps behind him. Jiang Cheng had returned after buying the medicine.
He led her to the seat, took a plastic box from his bag, opened it, and took out a cotton ball soaked in iodine. His voice remained emotionless: "Give me your hand."
His tone was so authoritative that Pei Xi hesitated for a second before obediently extending her hand.
"It will hurt a little." Jiang Cheng paused, then added, "Bear with it."
Pei Xi nodded. She had always been able to endure pain. She had suffered much more serious injuries when she was a child, and she had never cried.
Then a damp sensation came from my palm, mixed with a slight stinging. An iodine-soaked cotton ball gently wiped the edge of the wound with incredibly gentle pressure.
Pei Xi looked down at Jiang Cheng and noticed that his hands were also very beautiful.
Long, slender joints that exude strength—a beauty that is not delicate or pampered.
The night breeze ruffled his hair, revealing Jiang Cheng's features, which now possessed a sharp and striking beauty.
He lowered his eyes, his long eyelashes obscuring his gaze, so you couldn't see his eyes, yet he inexplicably gave off a gentle impression.
Pei Xi was startled by his own thoughts.
She suddenly realized that the scene was incredibly bizarre.
Pei Zhi's mortal enemy, whom she couldn't stand, was applying medicine to her.
—And she didn't seem to mind at all.
Pei Xi subconsciously curled her fingers. She suddenly felt that the air was too quiet and that she should say something to ease the awkwardness.
After applying the medicine, Jiang Cheng put the tweezers back into the box and then closed it.
Pei Xi suddenly spoke up, with a hint of teasing: "If my brother knew that my hand was injured, he would probably be angry."
"Who is he angry with?" Jiang Cheng immediately retorted.
He kept his head down, his tone was cold, and he had no expression.
Then he slammed the plastic box into the bag, the action seeming to carry some hidden, unspoken emotion.
Pei Xi looked up at his face, blinked, and sensitively realized the fluctuations in his emotions, but then wondered if it was just her imagination.
After all, Jiang Cheng always spoke in a cold tone and never showed any expression when looking at people.
After hesitating for two seconds, Pei Xi tried to ask, "Um... I didn't bring my phone. Do you have your phone? I want to call my brother."
Jiang Cheng paused, holding the plastic bag, and then replied, "I didn't bring any."
Pei Xi simply said "oh," without suspecting anything.
She looked around. "Then we... oh, no, I'll wait for him here. He should be back soon."
Jiang Cheng remained silent for a moment.
Then he said, "I'll be with you."
Pei Xi was immediately taken aback.
Jiang Cheng turned his face away, still expressionless. "The medicine I bought for you, shouldn't you ask him for reimbursement?"
"Oh, oh." Pei Xi nodded immediately, a look of understanding flashing across his face. "Reimbursement is due, reimbursement is due."
