Chapter 30 I am now your knight

Jiang Cheng's hands were large, covering her entire shoulder.

Neither the feel nor the warmth of his palm could be ignored; all the way, Pei Xi focused all his attention on his shoulder.

After walking for a while inside, the weight on their shoulders suddenly lightened as the shop assistant separated the two of them.

Then she led Pei Xi forward several more steps before stopping.

Then Pei Xi heard the sound of an iron gate being pulled behind him.

She took off her blindfold when she heard the door close outside. She discovered that she and Jiang Cheng were separated into two spaces, separated by an iron fence with a lock on it.

The loudspeaker in the corner hissed twice, and a gentle female voice began to broadcast.

"Greetings, players! Welcome to explore the secrets of the castle. In a faraway castle, there lived a carefree princess, pampered and spoiled since childhood, yet yearning to know what the outside world was like... When the Queen learned of this, she locked her in her room, preventing her from ever stepping outside... Now, you are the princess and her knights. We hope you can successfully escape the castle and embark on a thrilling adventure together..."

After the background announcement was finished, Pei Xi looked around.

Pink wallpaper and white lace curtains—it's definitely a princess room.

Jiang Cheng stood outside the door, which led to a long white corridor with several doors, the white doors adorned with gold carvings.

The overall decoration has a cartoonish feel, and coupled with the fairytale-like story background, the two of them seem to have accidentally stumbled into a pure and lovely fairytale world.

Pei Xi suddenly felt like she was cosplaying.

She looked at Jiang Cheng outside the door. He stood there, aloof and cold, with a sense of incongruity that made him seem out of place.

Pei Xi chuckled and joked, "So now I'm the princess who's trapped."

Upon hearing her words, Jiang Cheng paused for a moment, then after a few seconds, he said in agreement, "Yes, I am your knight now."

The broadcast said "the princess and the knights," but there were only the two of them here.

Therefore, the knight doesn't have "they," there is only one person.

Perhaps it was because he wasn't smiling, but even in such a fairytale-like room with such cheesy lines, and even knowing he was just going along with her, Pei Xi still inexplicably felt that he was being a little serious.

He was so serious that she was momentarily taken aback.

To match the overall theme, the room was not brightly lit, but rather a warm yellow that shone on Jiang Cheng, softening his cold and hard features.

Pei Xi stared at it, momentarily lost in thought.

She forced herself to look away and began examining the things in the room, whispering, "Let's find the key to the iron gate quickly."

"good."

Jiang Cheng responded and began to grope around in the corridor.

Soon, based on the clues, Pei Xi found the props in the room. Jiang Cheng took the props, opened the box by the door, and found the key inside.

After unlocking the lock, Pei Xi was freed, and the two finally reunited.

A door in the corridor opened with a "snap," and the two entered the next mission point.

The next room was very small; it was the servants' room.

Based on the information provided in the bedside table, the two quickly found the combination lock for the next door.

For the rest of the journey, it was as if they had received some kind of buff; they solved the puzzles in every room with ease.

Every time she thought she was about to hit a deadlock, Jiang Cheng always managed to find a solution.

Working together, the two solved each puzzle very quickly.

Throughout the entire process, the walkie-talkies given to them by the store clerk were never used.

What surprised Pei Xi even more was that this was actually Jiang Cheng's first time playing in an escape room.

This gave her a deeper understanding of his intelligence—the first place that Pei Zhi wanted to challenge seemed to be of hellish difficulty.

While solving the mystery, Pei Xi quietly offered a moment of silence in remembrance of Pei.

They continued like this until they reached the last room, where the two entered a study.

The floor-to-ceiling bookshelves were filled with books, and based on the coordinates obtained earlier, it was clear that the key information lay within these books.

There were simply too many books, so Pei Xi and Jiang Cheng split up, one searching the lower floors and the other the upper floors.

Pei Xi squatted on the ground, carefully examining each letter on the spine of the book. Just as she was about to give up, she suddenly discovered a crucial clue. Pei Xi's eyes lit up, she pulled out the book, jumped up, turned around, and excitedly said, "I found it..."

Jiang Cheng had appeared behind her without her noticing, and when she turned around, she almost bumped into his chest.

Pei Xi was startled, and the words she was saying suddenly stopped.

Jiang Cheng had one hand raised and resting on the bookshelf. Pei Xi didn't look up, but she could tell that he was looking down at her.

Because they were close enough to hear him breathing.

Pei Xi instinctively stepped back, his back directly hitting the bookshelf, not even a foot away from it.

If there were a third person present at this moment, from his perspective, their posture would look like Jiang Cheng was pinning her against the wall.

Pei Xi suddenly remembered the last time in the alley of the urban village, and the last time in the school corridor, there were several times when they were so close to each other.

I was so close I could smell the faint fragrance on his clothes.

It was still warm from his body.

Pei Xi's heart suddenly started racing, and a strange feeling welled up in his chest.

His breath hit the top of her head, and with each breath she felt, her heart beat a few steps faster.
