Pei Zhi made several attacks, but only managed to strike air; he had no chance to succeed at all.
Then, Jiang Cheng feinted, made a fake move, passed Pei Zhi on the right, and went straight for a layup, scoring the goal.
The entire movement was executed in one smooth, fluid motion, like an eagle completing the entire process from hunting to killing without any hesitation.
He looked at Pei Zhi, his gaze still cold, and said in a low voice, "Good defense."
Pei Zhi chuckled, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
His defense was indeed good, but Jiang Cheng still managed to score despite his defense.
“Again,” Pei Zhi said.
"Okay." Jiang Cheng raised an eyebrow.
Sweat beaded on their foreheads, and the air carried a hint of tension.
This time it was Jiang Cheng's turn to defend. Pei Zhi stared intently at his movements, and made a forward-moving motion while holding the ball.
Jiang Cheng shifted his body slightly in the direction of Pei Zhi's movement, but Pei Zhi suddenly smiled.
He quickly withdrew his momentum, stepped back, cleared his field of vision, and shot directly from the top of the arc.
The ball traced a perfect arc in the air.
"Got it!" Tong Kai exclaimed unconsciously from the sidelines.
Swish.
The sound of the basketball swishing through the net was clear and pleasant.
Three point hit.
Pei Zhi raised his eyebrows, his face beaming with pride.
The next second, Jiang Cheng grabbed the rebound, and Pei Zhi switched to defense again.
Jiang Cheng also made a feint, faked a shot, and then jumped to shoot, hitting a three-pointer directly.
He immediately responded to Pei Zhiyi with an answer ball.
He curled his lips into a smile, glancing at Pei Zhi with a hint of provocation.
Tong Kai and his friends, standing on the sidelines, almost couldn't help but shout, "Great shot!"
"Holy crap, that's awesome!!"
The two fought back and forth, displaying not only excellent skills but also handsome looks, making it a highly entertaining match.
If this happened at school, there would definitely be a circle of girls surrounding it, shouting loudly.
Unfortunately, the ones who got to see this were the three old men next to them.
They played like this until the very end. Jiang Cheng took several shots, making four out of five three-pointers, his accuracy was frightening.
As the last ball swished through the net and landed in Pei Zhi's hands, he looked at Jiang Cheng with a mixture of pride and approval in his eyes.
"You've passed," he said. "Welcome to the team."
Jiang Cheng shrugged and said nothing, as if everything was expected.
Pei Zhi paused for a moment, then said, "But there's one thing I need to tell you in advance: I'm the captain, and all tactics on the field must be directed by me."
"Is that acceptable?" he asked.
“Sure.” Jiang Cheng raised an eyebrow, looking completely unconcerned.
Pei Zhi paused for a moment, surprised that he agreed so readily.
He thought Jiang Cheng would disagree.
Just as he was hesitating, he noticed that Jiang Cheng had already walked away and was standing next to his backpack, taking out a water bottle to drink water.
Jiang Cheng finished drinking the water, brushed his slightly damp hair back with his fingers, revealing sharp eyebrows and eyes, when suddenly someone walked up to him.
Turning my head, I was met with a pair of captivating eyes.
"Who sent you?" Shi Chen asked directly, his eyes filled with inquiry.
Jiang Cheng paused, "What do you mean?"
"For the sake of collective honor? Or to help Pei Zhi?" Shi Chen finished speaking, a smile spreading across his eyes, as if he himself found these reasons quite amusing.
He looked at Jiang Cheng, his gaze lingering for a moment, and then said, "Unless someone sent you here."
Jiang Cheng didn't look at him. He kept his head down, putting the water in his bag, and said sarcastically, "Do you think I'm an undercover agent sent by the other side?"
Shi Chen smiled and shook his head, put his hands in his pockets, and sat down on the chair next to him.
He didn't say anything more, but just looked up at Jiang Cheng, finding it somewhat unbelievable.
Taking the initiative to find Pei Zhi is tantamount to taking the initiative to admit defeat to him.
He found it hard to believe that Jiang Cheng, with his personality, could actually do something like this.
With a "whoosh," the backpack zipper was zipped up, and Jiang Cheng picked it up and slung it over his shoulder.
He adjusted his bag strap and strode away.
Shi Chen glanced at his back, then calmly looked away.
"Shi Chen, it's almost time, we're leaving now!" Qin Yufan's voice came from not far away. He and Tong Kai waved to Shi Chen and walked away arm in arm.
Pei Zhi walked over and waved to him, "Let's go, we'll leave too."
Shi Chen stood up and walked to Pei Zhi's side.
The two walked slowly side by side towards the outside of the stadium.
"What were you two talking about just now?" Pei Zhi asked as he walked. He had just seen Shi Chen and Jiang Cheng exchange several words.
Shi Chen glanced at Pei Zhi and said indifferently, "Let's talk about why he came here."
Pei Zhi said "Oh," then realized that he had been so focused on fighting him that he had forgotten to ask, so he frowned and asked Shi Chen, "Then why did he come over?"
"He might be an undercover agent," Shi Chen said casually.
"Impossible." Pei Zhifei quickly shook his head.
"How do you know it's impossible?" Shi Chen raised an eyebrow.
Pei Zhi clicked his tongue. "Although I can't stand him, I know he's very arrogant and would never do something so disloyal."
"Maybe he wants to steal your thunder in the competition," Shi Chen said again.
Upon hearing this, Pei Zhi immediately frowned.
He carefully considered the credibility of this reason and found that it was indeed possible.
After all, there's no other explanation besides this reason.
Maybe Shi Chen really hit the nail on the head!
"Could he really be thinking that?" Pei Zhi murmured.
"Really?" Shi Chen said casually, arms crossed. "Then all your female admirers will be starry-eyed at him, completely captivated, and will join his camp, including..."
Shi Chen suddenly stopped talking and didn't say anything for a moment.
"Including what?" Pei Zhi asked curiously.
After waiting for two seconds, Shi Chen still didn't say anything.
Pei Zhi frowned, somewhat impatiently, "Tell me, what does it include?"
"You can decide for yourself."
Shi Chen shook his head, his expression meaningful.
He walked out of the stadium gate, waved, and turned to leave.
Pei Zhi rolled his eyes at him and muttered disdainfully, "Tch, if you don't want to talk about it, then don't. Do you think I care to know?"
He doesn't care about fangirls; his own sister will always be his number one supporter!
