Pei Xi couldn't remember the last time he had dreamed.
So long ago, I almost forgot about this bizarre dream.
The boundaries of the scene in the dream were blurry, but everything inside was incredibly clear.
She was like an outsider watching everything that happened in her dream, yet all her senses were connected to her, as if she were truly present in it.
For example, right now, a hand with distinct knuckles gently caressed her face, and a faint woody scent wafted from the cuff.
I don't know exactly what kind of spice it is, but its cool and deep scent complements the person's features perfectly.
The elegantly dressed man knelt on one knee by the bed, his fingertips gently caressing her cheek. The calluses scraped against her delicate skin, but it didn't hurt.
Because he is very light.
"Saying I want you to stay here forever wasn't really true, because I know... you don't like it."
He smiled, but it was just a slight twitch at the corner of his mouth, almost a bitter smile.
He raised his hand again to touch her eyebrows and her eyes, each touch extremely light, as if afraid of disturbing her.
As his fingertip rested on her eye, he spoke softly, "Xixi, stay with me for five days. After five days, I'll let you go, okay?"
His voice was low and hoarse, with a slight tremor, and a pleading look appeared in his dark eyes.
“Five days that belong only to me,” he murmured.
"What right do I have to refute this?" Pei Xi heard himself say.
She looked at the man in front of her quietly, her voice almost calm, but her eyes were full of defensiveness and fear.
A flicker of pain crossed the man's face.
"I already had everything, I thought that as long as I had everything, you would..."
He seemed unable to continue.
Because he could clearly see that there were many emotions in her eyes, but no attachment or love.
He lowered his eyes, the corners of them turning red from the stimulation.
Pei Xi saw that his face remained completely expressionless.
She simply looked at the man in front of her quietly.
“Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you,” she heard him say. “I just want to be with you and talk to you.”
But she remained silent.
It was as if he wouldn't say a single word.
A pleading look appeared in the man's eyes. He seemed unsure of what to do, and hurriedly grasped her hand. "It's okay if you scold me, as long as you're willing to talk to me and don't ignore me."
After saying that, he stood up and carefully embraced her.
Pei Xi saw that she had finally spoken, saying a sentence without making a sound; she could only see her lips moving.
The man released her, his expression one of surprise and delight, and asked, "What...did you just say?"
Her face was cold, as if she had reached her limit, and she blurted out, "Are you deaf?"
The man was taken aback, lowered his head, as if he had made a mistake.
After a long pause, he whispered, "Xixi... I'm sorry, I can't hear with this ear."
He repeated, "I'm sorry."
Pei Xi was stunned to see himself.
Then, the man leaned down slightly and brought his right ear close to hers. He said, "Say it again, and this time I'll hear you clearly."
He looked very gentle, so gentle that he seemed almost devout.
The dream shifted, and five days later...
The man took her back as promised.
The sky was overcast, and it was drizzling.
He dropped her off at the bottom of an apartment building.
As he was leaving, he looked down at her, chuckled softly, and said, "Xixi, thank you for spending so many days with me. I'm very... content."
Pei Xi's perspective merged with that of her in her dream, as if she were Pei Xi in her dream, standing at the door, looking up at the man speaking to her.
Then I watched him leave, his back to me.
He had broad shoulders and a tall, slender figure, and his expensive, custom-made leather shoes made a powerful sound as they stepped on the ground.
But for some reason, he gave people the feeling that he was very sad.
It was probably because it was raining that his shoulders got wet.
He walked into the rain, got into the car, and with a hum, sped away.
Pei Xi felt a strange, astringent feeling welling up in his chest, like rainwater pouring in, making him feel somewhat suffocated.
The dream shifts again, and flames soar into the sky above the bridge spanning the river.
The road was a mess, with cars that had been wrecked everywhere and the ground littered with the wreckage of broken vehicles.
News reports indicate that a major multi-vehicle collision occurred on the Jinjiang Bridge.
A drug addict sped onto the bridge at extreme speed, resulting in five deaths and eighteen injuries.
The case has received unprecedented attention.
Among the victims was Jiang Cheng, the then-most sought-after internet upstart and CEO of Lingmeng Games.
It is reported that after the accident, all of Jiang Cheng's assets were transferred to a mysterious person.
Sources familiar with the matter revealed that the mysterious person is a woman. Jiang Cheng had already prepared a will before his death, in which this woman would inherit all of his estate should anything happen to him.
The news caused an uproar throughout the country.
The dream then began to become chaotic.
Like a black and white film haphazardly edited and pieced together, an immense sadness weighs heavily on the viewer, making it hard to breathe.
Pei Xi began to lose the ability to distinguish between illusion and reality, and felt a splitting headache.
The sound of sobbing could be heard in the quiet room.
The next second, without warning, the person on the bed suddenly woke up.
Pei Xi stared at the ceiling, bewildered, and subconsciously reached out to touch it.
A layer of wet tear stains covered her face; she didn't know when, but the tears had already soaked her temples.
