Are you deaf?
[Xixi...I'm sorry, I can't hear with this ear.]
The voice from her dream suddenly flooded Pei Xi's mind, making her almost dizzy.
Even this part matches up...
In other words...
All along, the things in my dreams have been real...
Jiang Chenghui will become a leading new business elite.
He would take her away and beg her to give him five days that belonged only to him.
He will die in a car accident on the bridge after he takes her home.
He would even draft his will well in advance, leaving her all his inheritance...
Pei Xi suddenly felt short of breath, as if he were underwater, with salty seawater being poured into his chest.
She didn't know whether it was these things that were harder for her to accept, or the fact that her dreams had precognitive abilities that was even more incredible.
Pei Xi suddenly felt a splitting headache.
She needs some time to be alone.
Suddenly, a broadcast with a static tone rang out in the cinema, announcing that it was time to start checking tickets for their screening.
"Pei Xi, I..."
Jiang Cheng picked up the popcorn on the table and was about to speak when Pei Xi suddenly stood up.
She used all her strength to stop herself from trembling and looked at Jiang Cheng, saying, "Jiang Cheng, I'm sorry, I suddenly remembered I have something to do, so let's skip the movie for now."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Cheng also stood up abruptly, his brows furrowing slightly as he asked with some concern, "What...?"
Pei Xi interrupted him softly, her hands clenched into fists at her sides, the words barely escaping her lips: "Don't follow me, and don't see me off."
After saying that, she stopped looking at Jiang Cheng and didn't give him any chance to speak before turning around and leaving.
-
Jiang Cheng stared at Pei Xi's retreating figure, frozen in place.
He didn't know why, but the way she looked at him just now carried a sense of resistance and fear.
The way she left made it seem like she was running away.
Jiang Cheng clenched the popcorn in his hand, and the paper bucket deformed from the force.
After a while, he took out his phone, tapped a few times on the page, and canceled an order.
Besides the movie tickets, he also booked a restaurant.
Although it wasn't a fancy restaurant, it still cost him half a month's living expenses.
He imagined doing what Zhu Yuan had suggested: after watching the movie, he would take Pei Xi out for a nice meal, and then tell her that it was his birthday.
Then she'll probably smile and wish him a happy birthday.
That was his original thought.
But she's gone now.
Jiang Cheng chuckled silently. Indeed, he had never been popular.
His birthday has never been a day of celebration.
He shouldn't have too many expectations.
He threw the popcorn in his hand into the trash can, his expression cold and aloof.
Then, with his hands in his pockets, he strode away.
-
Pei Xi strolled unsteadily along the roadside, his mind a complete mess.
If her dreams are true, then it means that those things will happen in the future.
But Pei Xi felt that something was wrong.
I can't quite put my finger on what's wrong.
She wandered aimlessly along the roadside, not knowing how long she had walked, until her mood calmed down considerably. Suddenly, a voice came from the roadside: "Hey, little princess, what are you doing here?!"
Pei Xi suddenly snapped back to reality and, following the direction of the sound, saw a small-eyed boy squatting on the ground, slurping up instant noodles with relish.
The boy quickly swallowed the instant noodles in his mouth and looked at her with a surprised expression, clearly talking to her.
Pei Xi frowned, feeling that the man looked familiar. Looking up, he saw a familiar great white shark with green eyes.
“I’m Cheng’s friend, my name is Zhu Yuan. We’ve met before, haven’t you forgotten?” The boy squatting on the ground spoke first.
Pei Xi opened his eyes and suddenly remembered that he had seen him at Jiang Cheng's house last time, and this internet cafe was his shop.
“Hello, I recognize you,” she said softly.
Zhu Yuan chuckled, then exclaimed "Huh?" and frowned as he asked her, "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be watching a movie with Cheng-ge right now?"
Pei Xi was taken aback for a moment, then asked him, "How did you know?"
Zhu Yuan wiped his mouth and said, "Didn't Brother Cheng invite you to celebrate his birthday together today?"
"Birthday?" Pei Xi was taken aback.
"You don't know?" Zhu Yuan was also stunned.
“He never celebrated his birthday before because he didn’t like it. I didn’t expect that after I mentioned it yesterday, he actually asked you out. I thought he had already told you.” Zhu Yuan scratched his head, a little embarrassed.
He's always been a quick-tongued person, so he didn't expect Jiang Cheng to not tell her.
"His birthday is today?" Pei Xi murmured softly, a sudden pang of sadness gripping his heart.
She didn't know.
Today is Jiang Cheng's birthday.
It turns out that he suddenly asked her out today... because he wanted to celebrate her birthday together.
But not long ago she left him alone in a movie theater.
Pei Xi's eyelashes trembled, and she suddenly felt a little lost.
Seeing that she was a little stunned, Zhu Yuan tried to take back his words and said to himself, "It's normal that you don't know. Let me tell you, I had to remind him about his birthday, otherwise I think he would have forgotten about it himself."
Upon hearing this, Pei Xi smiled faintly. She hadn't expected that Zhu Yuan, who seemed unreliable, was actually quite thoughtful.
So she said something complimentary.
Upon hearing this, Zhu Yuan exclaimed "Oh!" and quickly waved his hands, "That's not how it is at all. Do you know why I remember Brother Cheng's birthday?"
He scoffed self-deprecatingly, "It's purely psychological trauma."
